EDIT2: How does 720p60fps look? Most of my videos are rendered 30 fps, so hopefully the video looks a tad bit cleaner. Can't say anything about the source videos, since that's a bit out of my control. I'll probably never use 1080p since majority of the source footage isn't encoded in it, so it wouldn't make much sense to. EDIT: Fixed a mistake in the video using KZbin's video trimmer so there's probably a random jump somewhere in the video once it's finished processing. I can never go through a video without mispronouncing something I swear.

The fact that you concisely explain each one and have clearly done a serious amount of research is so cool to me. These kind of "top 10" or compilation videos get a bad rap because they're so often poorly researched and written. Kudos on showing what the real thing should look like.

Glad to see Halo pop up on this channel and in this vid. ^^ There's a bunch of more impressive accidental finds in the Halo series, but sadly (and I guess it's the case for many accidental finds), they don't all have footage of the moment of discovery... For example, in Halo 5, while having fun exploring the last mission and experimenting pressure launches and out of bounds, Distro (WR holder) and I found a way to climb on top of the last room and then drop under it (where the end cutscene is located) which triggered the very last loadzone before said cutscene, skipping entirely that last room filled with enemies*. This skip needed 2 players, but after a week or two of experimenting, another runner (Nibre) found a way to do it solo (which was even faster then the coop strat). This skip was one big discovery since a bad execution would still save more than a minute over a good "old strat" run (IL WR dropped directly from 8:39 to 5:39 in Legendary and from 6:43 to 5:37 on Easy -- latest WRs are respectively : 5:11 & 4:58). *That room already had a skip, but you needed to bring a warthog (car) in it to clip through the floor (which was patched in a later update -- because of abuses of this glitch in PvP), and before entering this room, you had to destroy a bunch of power cores across the map to open the room (and that's why the skip had been named core skip). ___ There's many more skips that were found more or less by accident in the Halo series, but I wouldn't be the good person to explain how they were find. Also if you're ever doing a Top10 most ridiculous (bossfight) skip, look up "warden skip" for Halo 5. ;) But yeah, I don't know if you'd read that huge block of text, but if you do : Great vid as always ! I really love your content so far. :)
@EZScape
@EZScape 7 жыл бұрын
When I popped in the Haloruns Discord they honestly weren't really sure which ones had footage for. Like keyes bump was the one I originally wanted to put in, but I'm pretty sure that skip is like 12 years old. Also I read all of my comments. If there's anything like this that you think would be worth me knowing my DMs on Twitter are always open or whispering on Twitch. Glad you're enjoying the content!
@timbouton
@timbouton 7 жыл бұрын
Myeah, lot's of accidental discoveries where either done off-stream or footage got lost... Keyes Bump is a pretty good skip, too bad you couldn't talk about it in this vid... But I didn't know it was an accidental find... That's pretty cool of you to read all comments (and not skip huge chunks of texts like my comment). What kind of stuff you'd like to know ? I'd be more than happy if the little knowledge I have could help you in future videos (or just satifsy you're curiosity ^^).

Funny story, I used to very casually run a game. There was a skip for a boss fight where you essential skip a portion of the bossfight where you can't deal damage. After a haitus I came back after the fast kill was patched in current patch, but got fast kill anyway. Basically my slower way of doing the fast kill enabled the fast kill whereas the latest patch fixed it the way faster runners were doing the boss, accidentally rediscovering fast kill.

i found a skip in spyro where you could swim through a wall and swim under all the way back to the start of the world (my memory is foggy on what everything was) and if you swam against the ground in this certain spot you could get right to the last boss of the game, it was nuts

The funniest thing is that the final glitch was banned from regular speedruns of the glitchless%. Recently the pokemon community realized Gen 1 is a glitchfest itself, and the glitchless category was modified to use minor glitches anyone can perform like that one.

If you ever do another one of these, Bop Boosts in Sonic Heroes is one that was found on accident, and it saves SEVERAL minutes over the course of a run.

If you ever have enough to make a third installment of this video, there's one we have for Luigi's Mansion speedruns called "Map Glitch" Discovered by MichaelT00, I don't have the discovery video on hand, but I can easily get it for you if you'd like, as well as an explanation as to how it works, and how you can set it up yourself. If you're wondering, Map glitch is a glitch that through a setup of using a text box, soft-reset, and opening the map, you store the map being open, while resetting, and essentially locks you out of opening the map, saving around 0.3 - 0.4 seconds for every key in the game (because keys usually force you to open the map, making you have to mash B to close it) and 7-10 seconds in a full game run

Here is another accidental "Skip" In Duck Life 4 (Yes I speedrun Duck Life) EddieSaurus found a way to clip out of bounds in the second running minigame. this is only used in one category (that we made after this was found) this skip led us to look more into the game, and now we have All Races which is a 10 min category. Not really a skip, but do with it what you will

*video starts with footage from one of the best moments of the sm64 120 star TAS* this guy, man, he knows the good shit. (I hope they make a new TAS one day. The ILs are getting improved here and there with PU traversal, but consoles crashes must really make it difficult to verify if it all works.)

I mean that shit's Jarring. First time I was running Cuphead I accidentally found a skip on my own in cuphead. It skipped a few text boxes and warped me to the first level without navigating the map. I ran into it on my own and was able to reliably make it happen, even though I couldn't figure out what was happening. I just sorta. . . froze for a second. I later found out that my janky controller at the time was moving a cursor when I let go of the stick and that it was actually a Wrong Save Load, which isn't permitted in most categories.

Er, pretty late to report, but regarding the Dragon View credit warp? Despite TAS not even being able to recreate it, PJDiCesare went back and, in a week of attempts, managed to recreate and use the glitch in a run. Look for the "Grand Memory Clobber"; you'll find his run.
