Gave my good Makita to my step son. Bought the Harbor freight for $15 bucks. Only use it occasionally but it works great. The lift table is also great. I use it for a miter saw stand, table saw extension etc etc. .

When i moved out on my own in an apartment (and later bought a house) this place was a god send for someone who didnt have a ton of money. Ive since replaced most of the power tools and outdoor power equipment with craftsman tools but i still have A LOT of my original harbor freight tools. Great gift for someone who is going to college or starting to drive and needs to keep some tools in the trunk of their car. Go buy a cheap toolbox and fill it with essentials. Also harbor freight has insanely cheap Tarps, cordage, zip ties, ammo cans, etc etc. Just so much value here.

I'm a transfer press operator by trade. I started at age 20 , started with all Harbor Freight tools and anything that broke I'd replace with husky then to craftsman if need be or price is right. Absolutely great stuff to start with and as you go on with the years you get to know what or when to upgrade. Hands down Harbor Freight will get you started and keep you wrenching especially on a budget.

I have a bunch of those $10 grinders for the EXACT reason you gave-not having to change wheels on my good grinder. Like you said, ALL electric motors have a "duty cycle". Even my expensive grinder gets hot after extended use. My son has used/abused the $20 reciprocating saw for at least 5 years with no problems. I even used it a few times on one of his projects when I forgot to bring my Milwaukee along. I also love my Chicago Electric 12" sliding miter saw, 4"x6" metal band saw and 10" 12 speed bench drill press. Again, as you said, quality blades and bits along with proper setup where needed, make all the difference!

Don't underestimate that little grinder. I had a brick fireplace that some previous owner painted and I used that little guy to sand the paint off with flap disks. The project took 3 days and I'm still using that grinder. I've had it now for 3 years.

A few years back I used one of those $10 grinders to remove some cracked tiles in a shower surround. My wife still laughs about me running through the house holding it by the cord with it on fire and flames shooting out the vents. I tossed it into the front yard and sprayed it with the garden hose. Of course I took it back the next day and got a warranty replacement and finished the job.

The 6" Pittsburgh digital calipers and Centech clamp multi-meter are the best tools I've ever bought at HF. The calipers are always accurate, don't chew through batteries or die if you leave them in the unheated garage. The clamp meter is all I need for home electrical stuff.

I'm a machinist and I do that at work with grinders and a number of other tools. One type of job involves polishing with three different conditioning discs, forty seconds for each change only 2 minutes per part but the parts only take15. A cheap and easy way to increase production 15%, and stopping to change discs breaks up the flow of the job.

I bought 2 of the Admiral 12in Miter Saws at Christmas. One for myself and one for my father n law for his home in Florida. I got the Chicago Electric Miter Saw Stand for my Miter Saw. The lifting tables are fantastic I’ve had it for years. It paid itself off and earned me an extra $250 the first day I had it! I needed to install legs on some heavy equipment. And then install the machine. Usually a two-man job. But I got it done and now I have an awesome table!

The best item I ever bought from Harbor Freight I believe is called a battery operated Fluid Transfer Pump (?) at $19 you can't beat it!!! I have a 5 gallon fuel jug. It is VERY awkward back breaking job to put gas in a push mower,, not to mention the riding mower, or the mini bike or even the go-cart. Now I set the jug beside whatever i'm putting gas in, grab the pump and let her rip! It will ALWAYS be a Top Five Best Buy Item for me!

I love my 3 ton low profile Pittsburgh floor jack. A rubber pad for it is available on Amazon for about $8. So I grabbed one of those and followed the directions to properly bleed it before use and now I am a very happy customer.

DITTO! I actually have 2 of the jacks, and just bought a rubber pad for each. I love using that so I'm not scraping the paint off of my tractor implements or other valuable equipment. But those floor jacks (even though they weigh approximately a ton themselves) just flat out work!

I've bought and broken most of the under $50 tools. The grinders have a break-in period. [4] The recip-saw is used when I don't want to kill my chainsaw blades on roots. [2] You could say that the floor jack is pound-for-pound the cheapest - That mother is heavy.

I am with you on the grinders. I bought one as a "sacrificial" grinder to level a concrete floor that had copious quantities of Portland cement used as thin set tile grout. What a pain. It took hour, many hours, of grinding with a diamond blade to level everything down. The amount of dust was insane. But the grinder just kept on going. I still have it in service today. There are two models of the Chicago electric grinder; one is better than the other.

I don’t have many tools from Harbor Freight but the ones I do have I love. $3-$5 Bar Clamps, I have a bunch of them and think they’re great. Quality is inconsistent but lifetime warranty. The 4V Bauer cordless screwdriver- $20 is a bit expensive I agree but for jobs too small for a drill/driver but too annoying to by hand it’s worth it. $60 Kit (with coupon) Bauer 1/2 inch Drill/Driver- have used and abused one daily for about 3 weeks now and it’s impressed me to the point that I’m all in on their Bauer line. Possibly my favorite tool from HF has to my Pittsburgh ratcheting screwdriver, the $8 one from the 34 piece set, it has seen almost daily for about 3years now and the only sign of wear is the Pittsburg logo faded off. I’ve made a couple other purchases from HF (tool bag, Hercules driver bits, saw blades) and have yet to feel like Ive wasted any money there, all felt like good bang for my buck.

yup - i got the recip saw.. 4 years now - and i threw everything at it.. no worries.. I got the drill press 2 years.. has power and stability, i like it, even got the attachment clamp thing for it.. good to go, ALso - The shop rags and moving blankets .. great for projects, pets, and cleaning... also - I am currently putting the 10 inch table saw through the works.. And I am extremely happy.. Also, All my friends say the generators are awesome - because of the warranty - with no questions. .oooh battery chargers.. work perfect too . you make great videos!!!! I have the Bauer dual power fan as well. It's cash money. The main reason I bought it is so I can sleep in the back of my pickup truck, I rigged it up with bungee cords so I can hang it on the laundry hook in the back seat and crack the window, it provides plenty of airflow to keep you cool when it's hot, and it runs on batteries so you don't have to leave your vehicle on or worry about leaving anything plugged into your vehicle's battery and running it dry.

In general I like HF stuff, but I've just had the tire on my hydraulic lift table come apart after ripping. The plastic rim is still there but the tire came off, and I've only used it indoors to haul a 60lb heat press around my house. So I gotta pony up for a new set of wheels.

I work at HF and will definitely say that you chose well. Just a word of caution about the recip saw, it is not made for heavy duty work. As I've said in the past I use pallet wood for my wood working, and use a recip saw to take them apart. After going through many of them, I now save it for the middle nails when I take pallets apart. It just couldn't handle taking 150 pallets at a time (*grin*), so I stepped up to the $50 chicago electric and it does everything I ask of it. That said, the little 6 amp is my favorite because of the adjustable handle.

I work in a welding shop, I have 3 grinders , one with a flap sanding wheel, one with a grinding wheel and 1 with a cut off.. as much as I like hf tools for simple tasks, the ryobi with the extended handle and trigger style button and replaceable brushes,and I will say that grinder takes a beating and keeps going..the hf grinders last maybe a couple of weeks, the ryobi lasts over a year .. keep the guard on, clean the swarf off the guard and I recommend wearing googles or a full face shield when grinding, because even with tight fitting safety glasses , I’ve gotten dust and had a metal chip in my eye, after that it’s been a full face shield..

I stand by that welder. I had their old blue flux core. I could only do so much with. Then the feed wheels wore out without replacements. This thing is such an upgrade in every way. Flux isn’t the best, but it’s easy to travel with.

I used to install appliances for a living and that hydraulic table is good for raising up double built in ovens. Some of those things get up to a few hundred pounds and lifting it on the cart with a strap and then sliding it into place is much easier than lifting it a few feet up into a cabinet opening. That and sometimes you need to have the thing raised up to wire it up so its helpful for that too.

I don't think anyone will claim that Harbor Freight carries the best tools there are, but for the most part they do carry absolutely adequate tools for many many things. They say you get what you pay for, but I've had on more than one occasion gotten way more out of a Harbor Freight purchased item or tool than I expected to. If money is no object am I buying Harbor Freight stuff? Probably not. That said, I feel the demographic for this channel is more aim at people with actual budgets they need to consider when buying tools. If Harbor Freight ain't for you then it ain't for you, but I'll take any cost advantage that makes sense. Thanks for doing these videos!

I've owned the recip and it beat its self apart ,the boot wouldn't lock in place no matter how hard I tightened the little Allen bolts so I took it back and bought next one up and it still works, the grinder is a little better but you can't beat the price, and the bauer router tool is the best the slim design of it is perfect most comfortable to use and the precision you have unbeatable

I bought the Chicago Electric rotary tool and a cut off blade. I use it for carving pumpkins. It cuts through them like butter and I don't have to worry about getting pumpkin guts all over my nicer Dremel tool. I've had it a couple years and if the juice burns it up it's paid for itself and in the trash it goes.

The grinder worked great, then it started slipping...when I opened it up to see what the issue was, the gear was nearly stripped off and the grease was full of shavings. Wouldn’t have been a big problem but I was in middle of a job.. now I have three of them! I have had excellent luck with tools from Harbor Freight....the only thing I have ever got from HF that was trashed was the box of hose clamps... tried three and all three broke.. all the other tools and supplies have been good deals!

Angle Grinder: It's not the motor that burns up. There's a thumb switch on the side that is connected to a plastic strap that operates the actual switch that's located back by where the cord comes out. That tension strap is laying against the motor stator which easily gets hot enough to melt the strap. Of course, it only gets this hot when the motor's undersized windings get super hot. The melted strap usually prevents the motor from imolating itself, but it still won't operate after that. It's not repairable.

Chicago electric multi tool! Best 34 bucks I’ve ever spent, took up tiles in a 250 square foot office. The only downfall was is their scraper was flimsy so I bought a better one. But other than that, the tool itself was fantastic

I having being buying all kinds of Harbor Freight Power Tools for many years and have never had a problem with any of them. They key is knowing their limits. The are awesome tools for small wood craft projects and backyard DIY projects. I do lots of small wood craft projects (wood shape cutouts, bird houses, bird feeders, door hangars, signs, etc...) and backyard DIY projects (outdoor furniture, book cases, small tool & storage sheds, small standalone workshop, outdoor kitchen, pool dressing room, etc...). If you are going to do medium to large and heavy construction work projects, then you are better off buying professional grade power tools.

have one of those angle grinders. repack it with good grease and you up the duty cycle significantly, doesn't make it infinite, but it helps a lot. have the drill press. works great after some tuning, which you should be doing with _all_ drill presses, just to make sure its where it needs to be.

Ya. The grease they use looks like Vaseline. Now day's that seems like the norm for just about every manufactured gear boxes. I regrease everything with Quaker State wheel bearing grease. (But that's because I bought 10 5 pound cans at an auction 20 year's ago!!

I used the drillmaster grinder on a boat project that took 2 years. I used wire wheels and sanding discs.. after 3 weeks the lock button fell out, but I can still stick it in to remove the disc and change it out. Within the first 30 min I had to get welding gloves and it smoked off all the manufacturing oils, but after that I would run it for 35min to 2 hours without a break. I'd be out sanding the boat for 6 hours on a hot summer day and it still runs fine now. Just don't get the chainsaw disk, my dad just about lost his thumb this month.

Jeff, you didn't mention Electrical tape. It's the one thing that I constantly buy from HF the most. Yes, I use it professionally for wire pulls because I'm not about to waste my good 3M Super 33 on wire pull. Not when I can buy 10 rolls of HF tape for the price of just one roll of 3M Super 33.

I have the grinder and welder. The grinder I've never had overheat and my dad has an older Hitachi grinder. The HF grinder is WAY lighter which makes it much more comfortable to hold and grind with. It's also MUCH quieter, best $10-$15 bucks you can spend. 10/10 would buy again over any other brand for the price. The welder is also amazing, 120v and the welds are so clean, yeah it's not gas so theres going to be splatter but laying beads are so easy. I've welded 1/4 plate to 16 gauge exhaust pipe, does it all and there is plenty of adjustments.

This is not a tool but it is a really good deal from Harbor Freight. I just bought a 67649 1000 lb weight distribution trailer hitch for my new travel trailer. It was $209.99 witch is cheaper than anything you can find on Amazon or eBay, and then if you apply a 20% off coupon it brings it down to $167.99. I just got it yesterday and it is as good as any other brand and works great. I know that they are know for their deals on tools but this is a great buy.

HFT Employee here, We use the table Cart EVERY DAY store used! We even have some of the OLD orange ones store used that still work great (its actually better than the new grey ones lol but the Grety ones are still great tools!) The grinder, if you use it for weekend warrior use its great yeah! But if you want it commercially, Please Please spend a bit more money don't be "the grinder guy" who buys 1 warranty and replaces 10 grinders a week due to your overuse of the tool! Welder yeah, id say the 110/125 Chicago is good for WW use, Titanium is a great choice! And yeah the Pittsburgh Jacks are solid tools! The Dremel is great yeah! just dont try to stop the spin with the lock button (Duh???) Its plastic...... It will hold your chuck while you change toold, but you WILL wear it down to nothing quickly if you try to stop the spin with the button.......

I'll agree on some of them. The jack I have and love it, of course I also have a 2 post 10K lift so there's that. I was always wanting the lift cart, but between my lift and my electric hoist I couldn't see adding it to the shop. The grinder is my wire wheel grinder as it is my primary clean up before welding. I also have the Hercules paddle switch, holy cow you'd better hang on to it, it will take off like my Milwaukee. I also think the welder would be a good choice for someone just learning to weld, all I can say is invest in good flux core wire. So run several brands to see which one lays down the best weld. I have side by side tried the band saw against my Milwaukee. Even with identical blades, cutting through 2" oil well pipe, i would get 3 cuts done with my Milwaukee vs. 1 with the Bauer. If you are not having to cut 50 - 31' pipe in half to haul ASAP, maybe it will do. My friend who it belongs to, is happy with it, but he could not believe the difference himself. If I was just starting out as a broke young home owner the Chicago Electrics would be a great option. Now, well, they just make me mad. Thanks for the video, I always enjoy them, especially when you dog the fan boys. I have everything, Chicago Electric, De-Walt, RIDGID, RYOBI, Porter Cable (The old ones),. Craftsman and Milwaukee. You get what you need to get the job done. Sure we'd all like a wall of red or yellow or whatever color is your favorite, but sometimes the pocket book takes precedent.

Well, I used to work in a shop where they made electrical towers, and (as the summer kid) I was handled the job of cleaning the plates that went out of the multi-torch cnc. I used a huge 10" electrical grinder (an industrial Milwaukee if I recall, anyways it was red and had "white" markings). This thing weighted a ton. I was on it for 8 hours straight (apart from a dinner break), then the night guy used it for a 12-hour shift. Basically this thing ran almost 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. I would have taken an air grinder anytime over this monster, though.

I disagree on the drill master grinder. Mine got cooked in 5 minutes of use. Spend the 20 and get the Chicago electric. It will last and can actually take abuse. I do agree the Chicago electric rotary tool on making the list though (as opposed to the $5 drill master one you seem to always rag on) lol

Same I was using it to remove old adhesive from the under side of a few hardscape blocks , light duty work and it couldn't hang for 3 minutes. and the Chicago Electric is not much better. Brakes the blade lockout on the 2 ive owned. I was out $50 from the 3. I could have got a name brand with higher amp rating for that. I do like the Hercules grinder tho it hasn't let me down yet sharpening many sets of .25" thick mower blades. you can actually apply a little pressure without the motor failin ive used it for the last year or so. I use that for heavier work and a cheap Ryobi for the light work. I just got a Milwaukee fuel grinder and it will keep up with a corded grinder. I use it to sharpen stump grinder teeth on the job. The Hercules cut off discs are comparable to Diablo in my experience. Love those in a 10 pack.

I must have got lucky with my CE grinder. I ran it for about an hour straight on multiple occasions without missing a beat.

My blue CE Professional $29 grinder is a damn beast. I ran it for 5 hours as a grinder and a cutter and it did work! I replaced the grease first and let the tool do the job.

That $5 drill master really is bad tho hahaha I got one and it’s horrible. I did end up using the power cord on another tool tho as it plugs together with the barrel port.

My $10 drill master is ok. I cut with it once it did fine but I let the tool do the work. Just wanted to see if it could do it and it did. But I have since reserved it for wire wheel only duty.

Not only are these all great tools, but a number of them like the recip saw, angle grinder, jig saw, rotary tool, and drill press are items that will get used by almost any DIYer at some point. Never having to try making do with a hacksaw again is worth having some of these.

I haven't tried it or heard anything either. What I can say is that heating elements take A LOT of power. Look at the watt draw of a coffee maker or hair dryer. I'm thinking that if you plan to use a heat gun for extended periods (paint removal etc.), you'll burn through batteries quickly. You might be ok using it for quick jobs like shrink tubing though.

@@thomassmith8644 Since I've been in the Porter Cable 20 volt line for years, I only have 1 Bauer tool, the 1/4" impact driver kit. I bought it about 1 year ago and it's been great. It actually out runs my other (DeWalt, which was given to me) impact consistently. I'm just not so sure about how well ANY 18/20volt cordless tool would do with a heating element.

If you need a portable generator. Buy the predator 6500. It is one of the best purchases i have made from harbor freight. Also the Pittsburgh ratchets & sockets, electric pull saw.

Guess I am going to harbor freight this weekend. I need some more tools I didn't know I needed. I would have included the cheap hvlp. $10 for a paint gun with coupon can't be found anywhere else. If you take the time to clean and adjust before use it's great. Btw have the recip, Jack, grinder. Also the rotary (showing its age now but still works) They all will get the job done. Have had the grinder for 5 years and still works. Have used it for cutting 304 stainless, grinding, sanding, etc.

Love your Channel, the only thing that I would have to say about that Drill Master grinder is they need to upgrade the power button. After only a couple uses mine stopped working! If Harbor Freight put a few more dollars in the making of that power switch more quality this would be an excellent product. But until they do that, I'm going for a better grinder. It's all because of that switch that I don't understand why it made your top 10 list.
