Dude, thanks so much for putting my second ever release in the top 5, the way you described the album honestly hits home. I had many people tell me they would play the album during their shifts at work or in the shops they run and it helped the day just cruise by, so you saying it's perfect to put on in the background for any activity rings true and that really was always the intention. I remain reliably amazed by the fact Heaven Silhouettes has not appeared in EITHER of these videos. 親和性 remains the single raddest fucking Barber Beats EP I have ever listened to, all owing to the heavy echoing on all the tracks and the bassy beat. Feels like you're in an empty auditorium, with an orchestra playing for you and you alone. AND it's a sophomore release too, which makes it all the more striking. And 人生を垣間見る is a wonderful Samurai Champloo homage by every possible measure. There are no duds anywhere to be found. Heaven Silhouettes' albums are haunting, and still so very warm.

I really don't know what to think about barber beats. I also did a few albums myself (not as good as the famous big artists in the scene), but it's so easily done and as you said sounds all the same. I think you just need to find your favorite tunes and will definitely love them. But I got so bored of it, that I don't even wanna check out new stuff anymore.

well, i understand what you're saying but to be honest you can still make it interesting in a way. every type of sampled music can be made easy but to make something interesting for both the listener & artist is where the fun is at, same for barber beats! :)

This cozy intersection of internet and music needs. more. bodies! If Barber Beats get a new generation into the vaporwave experience, bring it on. We're seeing vaporwave turn into a cyclical genre. Someone may get inspired by these to chop and screw the plunderphonics a la Eccojams and bring the genre full circle.

Great video as always Pad, and I appreciate so many of the picks being part of this new generation of barber beats, but how could you NOT put hfm's Marble Fantasy as #1? That is an all-time defining album for vaporwave and barber beats as a whole. I suppose you have spoken about that album in previous uploads so maybe it was no longer eligible. Anyways, great picks!!

The artwork of barber beats stems from British designer David Rudnik, he definitely influenced hcfm, who IMO set the visual language for the whole genre (who I assume assume is also a graphic designer).

One of the best barber beats album ever made for me is "Monologue" by slowerpace 音楽 On the next place or like +- the same one will be EARLY TAPE WORKS (1981 - 1984) VOL.1/(1988 - 1992) VOL.3 by HFM There nothing else really made with so much vide as those (in the barber beats of course)
