Perhaps because the film portrays Jamie's Journey. And because it wasn't rushed, more a pace of walking, the writers felt that this whole journey should be remembered, not just the walk down the isle Although I agree that would have been a cute line to include.🤗

I watched "A Walk To Remember" yesterday, and it was my first time seeing it. The chemistry of the actors was so adorable, I’d replay their scenes together, especially the really sweet and cute ones. Landon is so soft for her 🥺 The way I melted and the number of times I replayed that, “Baby.. baby, I’m sorry. They’re animals, ok?” scene. Also, when he assured her that he’d always be there. Jamie said, “I’m scared of not being with you,” and Landon replied, “Oh baby, that would never happen.” 🥺🤧 I already had a feeling she would die of something, but it still broke my heart. Landon and Jamie’s love for each other was so warm, gentle, happy, caring, thoughtful, and genuine. They deserved to have more time with each other.

Can’t believe they didn’t mention that Mandy Moore catapulted Switchfoot into the mainstream by recommending them for the soundtrack. Before that they were basically only known in the California Christian music scene. And funny enough, Mandy Moore was a huge fan of them but she was the much bigger star at the time, and the band had never heard of her before this. Switchfoot’s music is such a special part of this film, they should have gotten a shout out!

Some facts I knew 1.Mandy Moore dyed her hair brown for the role and kept it. 2. For the music video Cry sung by Mandy Moore,Shane West made a cameo in the video. 3. Daryl Hannah wore a wig to match Shane West's hair. 4.Shane was 24 during filming while Mandy was 18.6 years gap in the difference. 5. Second Nicholas Sparks novo turned into a movie after Message In A Bottle. 6. Movie has a 22% RT score. 7. Mandy Moore sung most of the songs along with Switchfoot. She even did a duet with the lead singer off Switchfoot(Jonathan). 8. Mandy Moore's 2nd film(even though her first film was Street Rats but it never aired back in 1994). 9. Director made a cameo as the nurse wheeling Jamie out of the hospital ward. 10. Nicholas Sparks dedicated the film to his sister.

This movie is so different from the book. In the book Jamie’s hair is blonde and the play was a Christmas play that Landon did bc Jamie asked him to and he didn’t kiss her onstage, they had their first kiss on her porch. Belinda’s name wasn’t Belinda. Landon’s dad was in his life, Jamie didn’t have a license, she didn’t have a love for astronomy and she didn’t have a list of things she wanted to do before she died, she just had a dream of getting married. Also there was a school dance storyline that took up like half the book but it was just mentioned once in the first few minutes of the film, and Landon and Jamie constantly visited children at an orphanage but in the movie they were tutors at a middle school
@JenVitro3 жыл бұрын
You said all of this before I could. I always thought that it would be great to see a movie that stuck to the actual story bc both are very good stories. N I love how the Christmas play was such an integral part of the book as well as the dance. Maybe one day....

The book was very much like a recollection of events (which it is since it's like a diary) while the movie is more of us witnessing it at present. Because the book is written in the first person, there is little emphasis on character development for the other characters. Whereas in the movie, with a third person perspective, we can actually see events unfold from different angles and the chracters around the protagonists shine. They also removed much of the religion element to give Jamie more personality. Her charitable work, her talent as a singer, her fascination with astronomy, her ambitions (aka the bucket list). There is so much more to like about Jamie than being just the Reverend's daughter.

I like the creative decisions they made for the film since the book is heavily centered on the religion of Jamie.
