I miss C&G Darlington, too. Nice appraisal of bachmann locos. Entertaining, and knowledgeable, what’s not to like. Thanks.

Completely agree Jenny . That 812 is gorgeous ! Other locos to consider LMS Crimson Compound but also various Panniers , including the London Transport ones , and the Prairie 45XX . All very good models . In fact Bachmann rarely produce a bad model. It’s a shame they are just too expensive .

Your number one is bang on the money. I've for the LMS version but would really like a CR blue one they look amazing.

I only have three Bachmann Branchline OO locomotives. Well, one is a Class 117 three-unit DMU, but it is powered. The other two are the recent run class 24/1 diesel (with DCC/Sound), and the BR black ex-Southern H-2 4-4-2 "Beachy Head." What I like about the H-2 is that it has tender pickups (if you're going to run a jumper between the locomotive and tender, then why not have tender pickups as well?), and brass bearings on the driver axles (unusual for Bachmann). I also like the style of the locomotive as well. I love the big boiler and firebox, giving it a chunky style that most Atlantic type locomotives lack.

A fine list. I know Bachmann are not repleat with GWR models, but there are a few Panniers (8750 perhaps?) that deserve at least an honourable mention! The Robinson 04 is a fine model. I was fortunate enough to drive the preserved example at The GCR some years ago: a truly unforgettable experience, although at the time I didn't appreciate the full significance of the loco.

Jennifer, I am originally from the Isle of Wight and have ridden on the footplate of the 03 class shunter. The last bunch of Bachmann 03s have been amazing.

Always nice to see the Class 03, especially since I've also got that NSE model in my collection. Mine was second hand from Hattons, and bought long after ModelZone went bust. As for the LNWR 'G2A' or 'Super D', I picked up a second hand one from Hattons recently, and I couldn't believe how low the price was for a big 0-8-0 in good condition (only £54.17).

absolutely agree with you on the 25s - they pull like erm, a train!

A great selection. It's hard to top, but I do like my Robinson J11 Class 0-6-0. I'd have her in my top 10. I'd have loved to have obtained the GCR black with green lining version. On my wish list would be a D11 Robinson Director class in GCR green, but unlike the Atlantics I have not spotted any of the retailers selling them at bargain prices.

"At no. 10 is the Bachmann Gronk..." I think you may like them?! I agree with the prototype Deltic; I bought one of the 1st run and it'll pull the side off a house! The class 25 too- I've had D7672 Tamworth Castle for 2 decades and after years of old Lima stuff, it was a revelation. I'd add class 20 to the list, even if green ones are hard to come by..

I have a Model Rail exclusive Bachmann 08 in a weathered early BR with wasp stripes although I don’t have the paperwork that tells me what number in the production batch it is.

Bachmann Class 85 AC electric was pretty groundbreaking from the late Merl Evans.

A great video and informative, but for me, favourite models from Bachmann were the pannier and prairie tanks and the standard class 3

own a lot if bachmann models. Pannier has to be one of my favorites, its aged gracefully and is one i have no issue picking up multiples of.

Yes, at least one of the Panniers (probably the 8750) would have made my list.

Love your choices, but favourites are the O4s whether Robinson or 30xx, also have 2 different versions of the G2a. I would also put a word in for the WD and the SDJR 7F. These locos never let me down on performance on 72 foot running circuit with massive 40 van loads.

It's telling that a lot of the choices are older Bachmann models.. The 25 is early 2000s I believe. I'd also like a GCR 2-8-0, but it has to be the preserved one..
