BTS is far more than a boy band. Their music, which they either write or co-write, tells stories. It talks about life, leading good lives, sad times, and the world around us but more importantly about learning to love ourselves and each other. Their message and spirit is beautiful. As they say, "They are just 7 boys from South Korea who love to make music". And that is precisely who they are. They have so many beautiful and extraordinary music videos. So many that it's hard to pick just one. I'd say picking from earlier in their career, one of their first Billboard toppers, my choice would be "Blood, Sweat, and Tears". Excellent video 💜

Hang on a sec.... I have to argue that NKOTB did NOT start the boyband evolution. Jackson 5, New Edition, Menudo, hell, even the Bay City Rollers came first. NKOTB definitely brought boybands back to the pop forefront in the 80s, but by no stretch of the imagination can they be credited as starting the evolution of the genre.

I love BSB, but BTS owns me. Also, while Butter is an amazing video, I still think Blood, Sweat & Tears is their best video. They have quite a few videos that are better than Butter. In my opinion, it isn't even one of their top 5 best videos. Also, New Edition was before New Kids on the Block, they started the boyband craze. NKOTB was based off of NE, therefore their name. They were the new kids. Maurice Starr started NKOTB 4 years after starting NE wanting a white version of NE after they fired him for embezzlement.
@allisont89855 ай бұрын
It's true that the group N.E. and other groups came before New Kids on the Block (NKOTB), but NKOTB is the group that truly ignited the boy band craze. Take That, Backstreet Boys, and *NSYNC were all formed in response to NKOTB's global success. These groups themselves have acknowledged this fact. In fact, NKOTB's first album, which was produced by Maurice Starr, was very similar in style to New Edition's music, and it was not a commercial success.

Mojo is right, they're not saying that NKOTB was the first boy band, but rather that they ignited the boy band craze. Their global success led to the explosion of boy bands in the 1990s. Obviously, there were other groups before them - New Edition is great, but they weren't the first either. There were Menudo, the Jackson 5, the Osmonds etc.

That being said, I remember when "Everybody" dropped on TRL - it absolutely owned MTV in a way that defies description so I get it's ranking at #1. They made marionette dolls of NSYNC after the music video came out. I remember seeing them on shelves when I was a kid. However, I was always a Backstreet Boys fan and I hated NSYNC back then. Now that I'm 32, I still love my Boys but I don't mind it when they play NSYNC on the radio. Seeing Screech as the groom in the 98 Degrees music video for I Do (Cherish You) was hilarious at the end because you're expecting to see a good-looking guy at the altar, but it's Saved by the Bell's Screech! Also, the Sucker music video didn't just have any ladies in the music video, it was their significant others. One of them was Sophie Turner, Joe's now ex-wife who played Sansa Stark on all 8 seasons of Game of Thrones. Do your research, MsMojo!

I'll be honest, as a kid, I knew of The Backstreet Boys, but I never really gave them much thought... until the PBS (though I didn't know that at the time as I was just watching on the ABC channel here in Australia) show Arthur did a special movie with them in Arthur It’s Only Rock 'N' Role, which starts of with the character Muffy Crosswire watching, as it happens, the I Want It That Way music video that quickly goes from its original version into a version in the Arthur show's world, with each member of the band in a specific design to fit the animal world ascetic. After watching that back when it came out, my interest in The Backstreet Boys became more focused. Granted, I didn't become a super fan or anything, but I definitely took more notice of the band and started to try listening to their songs more abd tried to find at least some of their CDs, eventually even ending up with a special DVD featuring most of their music videos. And to think it might never have happened had thry not cameoed in that show featuring that aardvark with glasses
