The only downside I see with season 28 is when they inevitably remove the altar after the season ends. Honestly all the quality of life it brings would be a shame to scrap. Here's hoping they strip all the power buffs from the altar but keep all the QoL buffs permanently. That would be enough to keep me coming back even after Diablo IV launches.

not necessarily, echoing nightmares were introduced in season 26 as a season theme and stayed too, also i think they put so much work in this that they wouldn´t just remove it after the season

Can agree. And as a console player some playstyles just don't mesh well with console not having precision placement of things right where you want. Sentries, hydra, etc.

This is where I'm at also. PoJ is a fun build, and with the buff and seasonal theme it will be good to play it again. Monk was my first when D3 launched in 2012, so it's a fitting end. I even went to a midnight release and suffered through a few days of the error 37 disconnects. Been a long road.

I've never started a season as DH so I'm thinking this is the time to do it with GoD being so good at everything up to speed farming well beyond GR 110. I'm sure like every season I'll find my way back to Barbarian at some point but DH > Wizard > Necro is my current planned path.

I want to like the natalya rework, but as primarily an "archer" DH player...standing in the thick of mobs as much as i've seen isn't really winning me over. at least with the GoD set, your zooming through enemy packs, rather than getting close enough to hug lol. I will keep an eye on it though.

I'm glad to see this continues to be a preferred channel for myself for Diablo content along with Raxx and newer casual channels all the same, this is a great time in which we can appreciate that these content creators are continuing to spend time in these games and share what they've learned in helpful and fun ways! As someone who mained the wizard meteor build last season, this thing is comedically overpowered. With the buffs this season, it's going to be even more relentless. It can be a bit squishy at high GRs, but good CHRIST does it go overboard with the damage output. If it can function roughly the same as before (considering the lack of spamming icicles with sanctified buff) AND benefit from all the skill tree buffs, this is going to be hysterical to play with this season.

I wouldnt put much stock in the new Nat set. It was good on PTR, but the changes made basically reworking it again makes it extremely cluncky to play. You also need to basically be in melee range as a DH which isn't always the best for that class

Season 24 was the season of Ethereals... 3 unique weapons, per class, that came with a random legendary weapon power, and all sorts of unique and powerful properties. Too complicated to explain but they were very powerful and offered a lot of build variants that wouldn't normally be available to you. And that was followed by the season of Soul Shards which were unique legendary gems for your helm and weapon specifically that again offered a variety of buffs, with each also having some sort of "con" this time around, but with the right combinations for a given build, the positives typically massively outweighed any negatives. Those were very good seasons.

But would you even bother including the seasons before they introduced themes? And out of those seasons with themes, I think we all know that the first two would be at the very bottom of the tier list. Double Goblins being the absolute worst, followed by Double Bounties. For me personally, as a mostly solo player, the follower upgrade season ranks pretty high, probably top 5... Probably at 5. This season included the follower season probably drops down to number 6 though.

Oh man oh man...what fun and frolics. Never played Frenzy barb b4...was always whirl/rend. It was easy and comfortable and suited an ol' codger such as myself. But... reading your breakdowns and critiques of the builds, I thought 'why not' so I'm putting a frenz build together. I have never (never) got to 200para so fast. I'm just starting to die a bit but have no BoM at mo and am short of a few bits for mitigation but...oh Lord it rocks. Possibly the most fun I ever had with my clothes on. Oh boy, DH looks very good this season. GoD as starter is awesome for farming the season journey and then transition into Impale for GR pushing. UE Multi seems stronger dmg-wise than Impale, but Impale (fire stationary variant) is incredibly tanky compared to UE Multi, and to me the most fun build in the whole game. And with UE relying on a perfect secondary roll (+12 max disc) crafting a perfect primal weapon is much more easy for Impale build. After completing the altar with DH, maybe I roll for Necro again, my favorite caster.

didn't play in 2 years, so for me Masquerade of the Burning Carnival actually got nerfed for 1000% dmg :D anyway it's good do be back and se that my 2 favorite build (necro bone spear and DH multishot) in great state, really waiting for that season. thnx for the great help for those who just came out of long D3 hibernation

S27 I spent 2 months playing everyday as a casual player, building up a Waste Rend Whirlwind barb, then I wanted to try Tal Rasha meteor, in a week and a half with no gear the wizard was pushing 15 lvls above the barb. I wanted to cry.

Unfortunately, the way they changed the spike trap set does not seem "slow and methodical" at all. After watching Rax play it, you literally just sit in a caltrop while you spam spike traps. I know it's not that easy, but it's not methodical at all. You just have to sit and tank while dropping spike traps. I really hope they make a unique where you can drop caltrops at a distance (like others have suggested). That would make it more like a DH. The way it currently is loses all DH-vibe.

If I do decide to play this season I'll probably pick the barbarian savage frenzy build as my main and then use the UE Multishot demon hunter build, I like speed farming rifts and bounties, not necessarily pushing GRs, so I at least have a couple of options that I know I like :)

Yeah, this video just confirmed the plans I had. Start Necro up to lvl 18 and unlock the 2 altar powers, switch to DH for GoD farming and then switching back to Necro for GR pushing.

DH's GoD starts slow but once you get some half-decent gear, you'll be flying through rifts, it's not really the most powerful build but it's the fastest for sure

I tried SSF HC for the first time last season I found it more fun with the suspense of the possibility of death. I am not that mechanically skilled, I finally died in a GR 127 or so. @Rhykker, what would be the S or A tier build you would suggest that has the best survivability, and is still good at speeds and pushing?

Sure the bone spear build uses the free seasonal set but it also relies heavily on Haunted Visions, an amulet that drops completely on RNG which is why I recommend not doing the season journey on a necro.
