My grandma didn't know anything about Yu-Gi-Oh, only that kid me liked to collect the cards. She liked to buy a pack or two and hide it under the pillow of my bed when I came to visit during holidays. Only once did she buy me a single card: United We Stand. Don't forget that you can put Megamorph on your opponent's monster as well. So if your LP are higher you have an equip spell that can halve the attack of any one of your opponent's monsters, making them much easier to destroy. Especially in early Yugioh when having a high ATK was sometimes enough to make a card viable, such as Blue Eyes or Summoned Skull and such.
@robertfulk48085 ай бұрын
Actually in Duel Links there was a crazy tactic called "Massive Amazon" that used a combo of Lava Golem, Amazoness Swordswoman, and Megamorph. You could alternatively use Massivemorph if you're worried about the Lava Golem attacking back.

@@nicolaistuhlmuller8718 Yeah, Blue Eyes was low-key terrible, but because of the anime every kid and their grandma wanted to pretend to be Kaiba and had 3 in their deck. It was so predictable you could just reserve a trap hole for your opponent's Blue Eyes and wait for them to tribute summon it. That way you could have 1 trap hole remove 3 monsters at once. And then you add something like Monster Reborn to steal their Blue Eyes for free. Even as a kid I've never run Blue Eyes because it seemed so obvious that it was a net negative. Summoned Skull on the other hand was a true menace. 1 Tribute 2.5k Atk was crazy.

I feel like Malevolent Nuzzler should have made this list over Horn of the Unicorn, but that's just me. The DEF boost of HotU was nice, but it was never really used in practice. MN, on the other hand, had an optional top-of-deck effect that was even better than Axe of Despair (pay 500 LP, which means no loss in card advantage) and it would still cause your Level 4 1800 ATK beat-sticks to hit that sweet 2500 ATK break-point.
@SpectralSuperSonic5 ай бұрын
Definitely agree, most defensive monsters don't need the application of the bonus DEF and anything that did have a notable effect in DEF mode wouldn't want to waste an equip card to keep it more safe, while we also had much better 0 or 1 tribute Sets anyway. And Nuzzler had become a staple for me back then as well, it's hard to top something with that much value for me.

5:21 famously this Guardian Eatos + Sword Eatos combo does not actually work at all and never has, it has been made fun of because of how ridiculous it is that a Guardian's signature weapon can't synergize as intended with the monster itself. "Piercing damage isn't game changing" tell that to people during Duelist Kingdom
@ShiningJudgment6665 ай бұрын
It's why Airknight Parshath saw play in Goat and Chaos formats. Pretty game-changing to me when it draws you a card when you do damage and the fact it's a single Tribute monster with 1900 ATK. There's another one that hand rips the opponent and does piercing damage but 1800 ATK isn't as good to justify for a single Tribute.
@nnnp6345 ай бұрын
@@ShiningJudgment666It could be argued that it shouldn't have changed the game back then either, since modern GOAT decks don't really play Scapegoat or Angel that much. Even if we ignore that, it is not game changing effect itself, it was just a good tech choice for specific meta, probably even more because of draw than piercing.

3:34 and 10:10 So these weapons belong to the Guardians, who haven’t had much love in a while… Idea to take these 2 and use them as a general blueprint for a suite of retrains for each Guardian and their weapon: _Arms of The Guardians - Rod of Kay'est_ Equip Spell (This card's name is always treated as “Rod of Silence - Kay'est”.) _The equipped monster gains 500 ATK/DEF. This card is unaffected by Spell effects and cannot be targeted for attacks, but does not prevent your opponent from attacking you directly. While this card is Face-Up on the field, the field is treated as “Umi”. If this card leaves the field: Special Summon 1 “Guardian Kay'est” from your Hand, Deck or GY, ignoring it’s Summoning Conditions, and if you do, equip 1 “Rod of Silence - Kay'est” to it from your hand, deck or GY._ ATK/1000 DEF/1800 _Arms of The Guardians - Dagger of Elma_ Equip Spell (This card's name is always treated as “Butterfly Dagger - Elma”.) _The equipped monster gains 300 ATK/DEF. When this card is sent to the Graveyard or Banished while equipped: You can pay 600 LP, and if you do, return this card to the hand. Once per turn, you can shuffle the equipped Monster into your deck, and if you do: Special Summon 1 “Elma” monster from your hand, deck or GY, and if you do that, equip this card to it._ _Guardian of the Winds - Elma_ (WIND) Level 3 Fairy/Effect _While this card is in your hand, Face-Up on the field or in your GY, its name is also treated as “Guardian Elma”. If this card is Summoned, or if it destroys a monster by battle: You can Equip 1 appropriate Equip Spell from your hand, deck or GY to this card. If this card leaves the field: Special Summon 1 “Guardian Elma” from your Hand, Deck or GY, ignoring it’s Summoning Conditions, and if you do, equip 1 “Butterfly Dagger -Elma” to it from your hand, deck or GY._

Megamorph was actually used in two otk strategies: Cyber Stein OTK and Demise OTK: Use advanced ritual art to send two insects from your deck to the gy to summon Demise, pay 2000 lp to clear the board, then banish those two insects for Doom Dozer and equip it with Megamorph. Your lp are lower than your opponent's thanks to demise and Doom Dozer with Megamorph + Demise reaches exactly 8k atk. The combo was good enough to get Demise limited.
@ShiningJudgment6665 ай бұрын
Demise had a few OTK variants over the years. The Cyber Twin Dragon version got Metamorphosis banned and you could Limiter Removal it after morphing Demise and swing for absurd damage twice over or morph your Doom Dozer into it and just get the exact 8k damage from the double attacks and Demise attack. It also got Advanced Ritual Art Limited. The thing that got Demise itself Limited I believe was the Dark Strike Fighter variant in early Synchro era.

Theres another reason Premature Burial is limited in old formats, the monster special summoned is not destroyed if Prema is returned back to the hand or banished. So you could use cards that bounce spells/traps (e.g. Giant Trunade) to activate the card multiple times while also making the monster first special summoned "forget" that Prema was equiped to it. So if you activate Prema again, the first monster special summoned will not be destroyed if Prema is destroyed after the second activation because the Prema is treated as a different copy.
@markbonker68615 ай бұрын
This also resulted in future equips with a similar caveat changed to "when this card is removed from the field, destroy that monster" and "If the monster is removed from the field, destroy this card" instead of the wording of Premature Burial which states "When this card is destroyed, destroy the equipped monster"
@ShiningJudgment6665 ай бұрын
It was essentially a second Monster Reborn and its properties as an Equip came in handy with interactions with Giant Trunade simply because of how it was designed. It got banned due to the existence of Hidden Armory and Brionac abuse.
@nicolaistuhlmuller87185 ай бұрын
In old formats this had no impact as Giant Trunade saw 0 usage there. It was limited because monster reborn was banned and this was the nerfed version of it, limited to 1. Later on extra deck monsters that could inifinitely bounce as well as equip searchers made burial better than reborn.

I would use BBS with Evocator chevalier to double pop things all the time. Give BBS to opponent's monster, use evocator to pop a card by sending BBS to the grave banish the monster equipped to it. Would be such a better combo if Evocator wasn't a gemini

Interesting fact snatch Steal would also synergize with bad reaction because you can also punish your opponent for healing due to the effects of snatch Steal which would normally give you a thousand life points because you lost a monster through this way but because of bad reaction now you would be burned for a thousand damage as well as having your monster being stolen every turn that the card is equipped to the monster

reminder that celestial sword eatos misses timing when sent to the GY by the effect of guardian eatos. literally doesn't work with its namesake card.

I find it kinda sad that the best equip spells don't do what an equip spell is "supposed" to do. Instead, they work more like normal spells.
@Yggdrasill2997925 ай бұрын
Wait! The double edge sword isn't fully true and you skipped that option. You could also put Megamorph on your opponents' monster if you were ahead and half the attack of something. Meaning the card does never become dead in your hand, if you are ahead, you can be weak anything powerful the enemy brings out, if you are behind double your beat sticks. -and that is why it should be, at least in spot 6 above, Axe of despair. Also because the gain even on a 1800 monster is bigger than Axe.

you made a mistake: Royal Magical Library needs to you cast 3 spells before drawing 1 card. Ironically, for the Elma combo, it doesn't matter ^^

That’s why Fairy Meteor Crush is much better. 1. A 400 ATK boost really isn’t that much of a boost and if it is to you, that’s a sign that your deck sucks and it’s best you start over. 2. If Fairy Meteor Crush gets destroyed, the monster at least gets to stay on the field. With Big Bang Shot, might as well say goodbye to your monster if you aren’t careful enough. Rather be safe than sorry.
@nicolaistuhlmuller87185 ай бұрын
Fairy Meteor Crush is completely useless. You basically go -1 for maybe some burn damage. Big Bang Shot can at least be used to beat over stuff too, so you can still get at least some value out of it. Fairy Meteor Crush is just a waste of resources.

@@nicolaistuhlmuller8718 Fairy Meteor Crush makes a monster do piercing damage not burn damage. What other card are you confusing this for?
@nicolaistuhlmuller87185 ай бұрын
@@truthteller7283 burn damage refers to any type of damage that is achieved via a card effect, in this case the effect of Fairy Meteor Crush, and Fairy Meteor Crush is exactly that: a card that does virtually nothing except inflict potential damage if you can meet the right conditions, but has you go -1 for that and is extremely unreliable and easy to stop. In most cases the damage will even be far too low to matter anyways, and since it doesn't boost attack, it neither enables otherwise impossible kills nor does it protect your monster from battle destruction by increasing its atk. Fairy Meteor Crush also does nothing to actually motivate your opponent to play monsters in defense position while Big Bang Shot can ensure your monster is the strongest on the field while your opponent will take damage regardless of the position of their monster.

@@nicolaistuhlmuller8718 “burn damage refers to any type of damage that is achieved via a card effect”. Yes. Good job you know the definition of burn damage. Fairy Meteor Crush gives the equipped monster the ability to do piercing damage. You still need to actually BATTLE the monster to do piercing damage. It’s not Magic Cylinder, Ring Of Destruction, des Koala, etc dude. “but has you go -1 for that and is extremely unreliable and easy to stop”. And well… so does BBS that is also a -1. Anyone can MST or Dust tornado, or Heavy Storm it. So what’s your point? The difference is that at least FMC keeps your monster if the spell card is destroyed. BBS, while 400 extra, also destroys your own monster if the spell itself is destroyed. If you played BBS. I don’t even have to battle your monster. I can play MST on BBS and make it go bye bye. So you basically make your monster more easy and vulnerable to destroy. That risk isn’t worth only 400 extra points. Just play good cards man. “In most cases the damage will even be far too low to matter anyways” far too low? what do you think you equip FMC on? Kuriboh? Just equip it on a strong monster that doesn’t have an effect to do piercing damage on its own. It’s not that difficult. “and since it doesn't boost attack, it neither enables otherwise impossible kills nor does it protect your monster from battle destruction by increasing its atk”. Your attack doesn’t need to be boosted by 400 every duel if you know how to play your cards. I rather have my monster stay on the field after the equip card gets destroyed then risking it be destroyed much easier just for 400 points. “Fairy Meteor Crush also does nothing to actually motivate your opponent to play monsters in defense position”. I mean it won’t matter either way as FMC makes the monster do piercing damage. Something tells me you don’t even know what card I’m talking about here. “ while Big Bang Shot can ensure your monster is the strongest on the field while your opponent will take damage regardless of the position of their monster” it’s only 400 extra dude. Tell me you’re bad at deck building without telling me you’re bad at deck building. If your deck makes 400 points constantly make or break you the game that you would use BBS at the risk in making your monster easier to destroy. Throw away the deck. Start over.

@@truthteller7283 look, you seem pretty confused, so let me explain how yugioh in general and fairy meteor crush works. Yugioh is a game about resource management and creating favorable board states. Fairy Meteor Crush is a card that costs a resource and is a minus one but does NOTHING to improve your board state. Other equip spells, including big bang shot, enable kills and can at least improve your board state. Fairy Meteor Crush does nothing like that. It is a card that has literally 0 usage outside of giving you a potential chance to inflict damage to your opponent. As such it is much more similar in nature to a card like Ookazi, except that Fairy Meteor Crush isn't even guaranteed to deal any damage at all. Even IF you already control the strongest monster and your opponent has a low defense monster in defense position, which, mind you, is the only situation where Fairy Meteor Crush will ever be doing at least something, even if it's not much, your opponent can just respond to your attack with a Sakuretsu Armor, which will destroy your Meteor Crush without ever dealing any damage. As such, by your "better safe than sorry" logic you'd be better off playing Ookazi, because that damage is at least guaranteed. Big Bang Shot is simply superior because it actually does SOMETHING other than a neglegible chance to maybe inflict some damage if the situation is right. Big Bang Shot improves your board state and enables kills so it allows you to gain a resource advantage, something Fairy Meteor Crush fails to do. If Big Bang Shot enables a kill that would otherwise not be possible, it is not a -1 anymore but neutral. Fairy Meteor Crush however will ALWAYS be a -1. Even if Big Bang Shot is unsafe, it's better to be unsafe than to be useless. Even if you don't want to play the meteor, you're better off dedicating the slot to a different card altogether than to Fairy Meteor Crush, because that card is thoroughly useless, and if you fail to see that and would actually dedicate a slot in your deck to the meteor, it's you who should probably start over and learn about resource management and try to understand the game better.
