You are great! I’m from Boston, Ma. Story: I was pushed by my dad to take Nursing but after so many courses and get in the program I failed during this spring. I got so depressed but my friends from college cheered me up and convinced me that’s not the end so they told me to see this as a 2nd Opportunity and follow what I loved. Since high school I wanted to become an engineer either in mechanical or software (programmer) so they told me at school that many of my courses count for the 💻🔬program and then go to e.g. Umass for 2 more years to get my bachelors in again mechanical or programmer and that’s what I’m doing. I start next week for 2 part of Summer. Many blessings

I don't mean to shit on your face, but the fact of the matter is if you failed nursing, I don't know if you are going to do so well in an engineering course.
@franciscoguardado57016 жыл бұрын
Eric Cui I don’t mean to shit on your face but I did fucking great in Nursing classes (regarding the theory) the reason I consider I failed was because when classes were over I did not see myself working in hospitals or Other health care facilities. Then I turned my attention to computer engineering and I talked to many people from different colleges and it just felt right. Good bye.

Luckily I enjoy math and physics and I sometimes enjoy studying so that's good, but I'll be even busier when I join the school rocketry or satellite club. If you go into it it'll be good to find older mechanical or aerospace students and ask for tips and tricks cuz they're wise and pretty reliable. Be ready to work, falling behind in class is your worst nightmare, but being ahead is the best thing you can do.

I actually bought an Hp Envy and then upgraded to the Hp Spectre because it had better hardware.
@WaltSorensen6 жыл бұрын
I would agree with this advice. 99.99% of everything is just faster and easier at the school Lab, plus you're not shelling out more for student editions of engineering software. People definitely should spend the same on a workstation grade Win10 laptop as they would have on a MacBook... (Mac has a reputation for stability mostly because they built on workstation quality hardware, Workstation grade Win systems are just as stable) Also all OSs need quality antivirus mac, win, Linux always need antivirus. I would say the CPU should be an i7 minimum. I got a deal on a surface book which is great, but I have run into slow processing with the i5 in Matlab with some PDE solving. I mostly use it now for taking notes in Class with the surface pen and OneNote, or for handwritten homework assignments (also using OneNote). or for remote access to the school lab from home (I don't live on campus so remote access to the school lab via VMware client has been a wonderful thing)

Something that i would recommend is getting a cheap laptop that you can bring around to class and type up reports on, then have a Desktop at home with a Quadro or AMD FirePro GPU to do the more intensive tasks like simulations in solidworks. just from experience with my GPU in my system (NVIDIA GTX760), Solidworks doesn't utilize these cards because they are meant for gaming, and this is going to happen with most of these laptops on the list above (except perhaps the dell precision because it has a Quadro built in). So if you can try to get a cheaper laptop and invest into a desktop to do your heavy workloads at home if you can!

Hi there, Nice video input and I have a question for you. I’m having trouble deciding which Surface Pro model to get :( I’m currently doing my degree(Electrical Power Engineering) and I find it very hard for me to keep up with my notes that’s why I prefer to go paperless. My current Lenovo has i5 processor, 4gb of RAM, 256gb of ssd and the surface which I'm planning to get is a Surface Pro 6 with also an i5 processor but with 8gb of RAM and 128gb of ssd. My workloads for my second year later on would vary from Spice, MATLAB and etc. So my question is, will it be worth it to get the S6? or I should just get other older surface models but with higher specs, like Surface Pro 2017 or even Surface Pro 4? Bcus I’m finding a laptop worth using for another 3years(max). Also Apple products wouldn't be a choice for me as I find it very hard to work with the ppl in my circle. Thank you, your opinions are very much appreciated😊 P.s money is a factor too :( that’s why the option of older models is included in my question

I used a desktop with Packard Bell Pentium 100mhz (horrendously $2400) and then AMD K62 266Mhz (custom build $1000) to get my computer science degree. My computer especially the AMD K62 with Nvidia G100 and a Voodoo card could render OpenGL frames to *.mov video file (5 to 10 hours lol). Years later, I was using Dell 8" windows tablet ($100) and my Samsung Note 4(expensive) to get my Cyber Security certificate. sometimes, I was using my Chrombook (50). Yes, I was writing Python and Java using Dell 8" tablet. I was running on online compilers to get my program results from my Note 4. Now I am finishing my MS Science using Rasbian RPI3, and HP Spectre (refurbished 700). I am running everything with Linux Mint and Ubuntu either on Live USB boot, Virtual Box and main partition. When I was at work, during free hours I am using the online compilers to complete my programs (Only limitation is Thread and Memory). What I am saying is you don't need an expensive laptop to get things done. Actually, you don't even need IDE Eclipse, Netbean and Visual Studio (this one will eats up your ram). All you need is terminal / command prompt, text editor, programming development kits . Even a cheap laptop with a decent integrated graphic card is capable to create some programs using graphics API (OpenGL, DirectX).

Thanks for answer, I´ve read in internet´s forums positive and negative reviews about Thinkpads quality (The P51 and The P71). The negative ones say that they fail for bad cooling, and sometimes the screen has some problems. Maybe those are isolated cases, and generally the Thinkpads are good quality, i don´t know, but i´d like someone who has worked with Thinkpads (P51 or P71), tell me if they´re good quality or not. I want to buy a Thinkpad (P51 or P71), but i´m not really sure of do it.
