Great content glad Europe and British Motoring (um Petro Heads ) want to be a part of The Muscle Car segment. In order to qualify, vehicle can only have 2 doors in it Model Production form. Now any 4 door variant, which may exist will remove all past, present, and future versions/generations of the Muscle Car Category. Hence the Mach E bares the Mustang name and badge/emblem. It has 4 doors therefore it removed all generations of the Mustang's, from the Muscle Car Status. Just like the current Dodge Charger has 4 doors. The Mopar owners would say well how about the Hellcats, and my response is they're nice comfortable family oriented sleepers.

@morellasgeorgios84494 ай бұрын
@@Nic-uk9cf the focus is a more talented sports car than the viper anyway, plus they didn't have another engine for the viper as history put it. That made the viper a worse car than it could be. Europeans have a tendency to do more with less spec than the usa car makers no matter how you put it and the viper is no exception. Giancarlo Fischicella for example chose a focus rs mk i as his personal preference for twisty roads like monaco and race schools in england chose again focus base versions to teach control in the limit just because it was a great car to do so. Pari jones and Karsten schebdat built their careers on aproving and developing good cars to drive. I mention this because I mentioned the focus. Now take the viper. A lot of guys said in videos that it was good if not better in a skid pad or some not so demandind us track vs older ferraris or corvette but does it really mean something, on controlled situations with fat sport tyres? No. On normal roads nobody really loved the viper and its not ideal engine and poor handling was reasons to avoid. Would you chose the viper personally? No that engine doesn't make tha RAM a sports car but it didn't really help the viper in any case.

The reasons why Europe doesn't produce muscle cars are simple: our roads are generally too narrow and not straight enough, we usually don't have enough room to park a big V8 car and fuel is very expensive compared to the USA. All of this means that any big, powerful car we produce is likely going to cost a lot more than a muscle car and will be aimed at a wealthier market segment than a comparable American vehicle. That's why even the Capri, which was pretty cheap, doesn't really qualify as a muscle car - it looks like one and is at a similar price point, but it lacks the muscle. The only true muscle car currently sold in Europe is the Mustang, but for comparison, in the UK a Mustang will set you back £38,000 - £45,000 - that's $48-$56k - whereas in the US, you're looking closer to the $30,000 - $35,000 (or £24-£28,000) point. For the V8 version in the UK, you also have to pay over £400 a year in tax to keep it on the road, then the fuel costs at around £1.10 - £1.20 per litre (at least outside of London where I live) (about $1.40 - $1.50 per litre, or $5.20 per gallon). Last time I was in the States, it was about $3 per gallon (and that was in California) or 50p per litre. Those same reasons why we don't really do muscle cars are the same reasons why we love hot hatches: they're cheap to buy, small enough to fit on the road and the driveway, easily capable of going round our tight, twisty roads and inexpensive to run.

add in that also some countries have taxes on emissions, cubic and\or weight... Ford Mustang with the smallest V8 in Norway, 1.033 million NOK that is 120000 USD. or in same range as an Porsche 911, and 35000 usd more than the Porsche Taycan and 20000 more than the 718 though most people this days would buy an Ford Mustang Mach-E since you could have 2 of em and enough to build a double garage with the spare cash on the same price as an Mustang V8

The term muscle car is inherently an American term. Take a grocery getter, ad a V8, 4 barrel and a 4 speed then you have a muscle car. I love every car on this list but i would not call them muscle cars.

Shout out to a US designed collaboration between Chrysler & Daimler Benz: the Crossfire SRT6. Okay, it was basically a modified SLK but had the same AMG supercharged engine as the SLK320 at a cheaper cost. In fact, Daimler Benz insisted the Crossfire hp be quoted at 320 when in fact it had the same 354 horses as the SLK. The styling holds its own against many of its incredibly more expensive peers as well. It’s components were overwhelmingly German as was its construction by Karman. It’s a rare sight & I consider it a very underrated vehicle that arose from a crazy corporate collaboration which makes it an interesting historical vehicle. Maybe not on the level of an Aston Vantage V12 but it’s a well-balanced muscle car perfectly suited to its V6 supercharged German engine & stylistically, very engaging. A fraction of the price of an Aston or an SLS, the SRT6 in my mind is just as, if not more of a looker than many of its wealthier vehicle peers.

Perhapse controversial, but the jaguar XJS. 5.3 litre V12. 300 up and 318 ft-lbs of torque.
@blairmarchand75724 жыл бұрын
I'd say the XJS is more properly left in the touring category when in factory trim. But if we sub in the TWR tuned machines or parade out the Lister 6.0l and 7.0l cars... now we're cooking with gas!

I feel like you can't have the M series as muscle cars. They're too precise and actually go round corners well.
@LeglessWonder4 жыл бұрын
Theres plenty of American muscle cars that handle on rails. Poor handling isn't a defining feature
@jurassicmatt27964 жыл бұрын
@@LeglessWonder compared to the M series I'm saying. Happy to be enlightened though if you know different. Sadly we don't get much American muscle over here.

Ive driven plenty of bmws and mercs. They handle like cars. If your american car handles a lot worse, maybe get something newer than a 1977? European cars are only better at being expensive and unreliable. Other than thst theyre pretty unremarkable honestly.
@jurassicmatt27964 жыл бұрын
@@MrYobII I agree, up to the point where it becomes an M series. That is a very different animal to the standard series. But even then, you'd need a track day to really show up the American counterparts.

I think the DBS Superleggera could be nominated for this list. 715 horsepower transferred to the rear wheels and looks more brutish than elegant.

I also thinks it is a spiritual successor to both the V600 and AMV8 in two ways as it looks unrefined and impolite like the AMV8 and it has more power than a 720S like how the V600 has more power than the EB110 GT.

Yep. Adam Ferrara also called it ugly in Top Gear USA S01E04 Edit: it's a bad video. Because there are no real Euro muscle cars I though it would be interesting to mention all kinds of euro cars with lots of power but not made for lap times. I'll make the Part2 with better picks.
