I live in Toronto, and I do staycations at these hotels all the time. My big four are the; Four Seasons, St. Regis, Ritz Carlton and Shangri-la. I've been to each at least a dozen times, if not several dozen. I would put the Four Seasons as my number one. Probably the best pool in the city. The hot tub is really nice as well. The pool area generally is a great place to lounge around. All four of these hotels have great room service, but in my opinion, the room service at the Four Seasons is a bit better than the others. I think the Four Seasons also has the best rooms. Love the bathtub. The Yorkville suite is amazing. I wouldn't pay regular price for it, but it's usually possible to get an upgrade at the front desk at check-in for only a few hundred more than a regular room. The St. Regis is probably my second. Love the grand suite. Be careful with the corner suites. Some are really nice, and one layout is absolutely terrible. I like the one where the corner is in the bedroom. The motorized drapes are really cool. For the price it's usually better to be a deluxe rather than corner. Love the pool. It's huge. The largest of the four. The hot tub is really nice too. There is some seating, but this really isn't a lounging space in the same way the Four Seasons is. The pool is also hard to get to. I think most people can't figure it out, which means the pool usually isn't crowded. The rooms at the Ritz Carlton are probably the most dated. I usually get the corner suite, which is nice, but not as nice at the suites at the Four Seasons or St. Regis. Considerable smaller, and only a bit bigger than the regular rooms. It does have one of those Japanese robotic toilets that is really cool. The regular rooms don't have that. I like the pool. For some reason I'm the most buoyant in this pool. The pool also has jets that can be controlled by a dial on the wall. This actually allows some control over the pool's temperature. It also makes it possible to swim against a currant. The hot tub is mediocre. Comparable to what someone would have in their backyard. This space is more loungey than the St. Regis, but less loungey than the Four Seasons. The Shangri-la is probably my least favorite of the four. The deluxe suite is really nice. Great bathtub with jets. Nicer then the Ritz Carlton, but not quite as nice as the Four Seasons or St. Regis. It does look modern though and I love the wood panelling. When it comes to the pool, it's visually stunning with the water falls and the cabanas. This would be the second most loungey space behind the Four Seasons. You will love the pool when you see the pictures, but there are a couple of problems. Signing in bothers me. I get that the hotels want to protect itself against liability, but no other hotel does this. Secondly, the pool is cold. I mean really cold, as in difficult to even get into. Every other pool has the temperature set at about body temperature. I think the St. Regis gets it perfect. The pool at the Shangri-la is also really shallow. It's fine if you are swimming, but if you are just hanging out, it means squatting. I can actually sit down and still have my head above water. The hot tub is nice, but again, sometime the temperature is good and sometimes it's cold. I usually don't even bother going to the pool when I'm at the Shangri-la anymore. Not the case with any of the others.

Your observational comment was absolutely brilliant. These were the things I was curious about. Well done, Sir. Cheers.

I don’t care how many stars a hotel has, but I will never, ever have a bath in any hotel. My Jay-Jay is worth more than that suite. I have noticed that it is the very wealthy guests that are the worst staying in a six star hotel. That reminds me of a phrase my grandmother used to say clean on top, dirty a bottom and she was so true. They think because they have money they can pay for everything except class. They go on these classy yachts and pay a hell of a lot of money, but their behaviour to the Stewart’s and workers is rule and presumptuous. They complained about everything and anything, they are ill manner, especially the colour ones. They are so over weight and you would think they are really nice people, but they are not. I used to worked on a yacht in Monaco when I was in my twenties as a summer job and I have met a lot of billionaires who are so ill manner. I when to UofT and became very wealthy and put what I was learned as a teenager to my adult life and taught my children never let others feel belittle because you have more than them. You were bless to have more than others to give back to your community.

@@omaveira1979 I don't have a Jay-Jay, so can't really comment. I have also never been on a yacht, although I have heard stories. If you worked on a yacht in Monaco then I feel for you, and your Jay-Jay. I have stayed at the Metropole in Monaco. Liked it, but wouldn't go back to Monaco, or the south of France generally for that matter. I work in finance, so I know what people can be like at the highest levels, so I agree with you. Money tends to make you more of what you already are. An ill-mannered poor person will become an atrocious rich person if they come into money. It's rare that good poor people become rich, since the traits required to become rich are rarely possessed by good people. Typically the higher you rise the worse you need to become. I include myself on that list. I have done regrettable things to become successful. I have been poor and I have been wealthy. It's funny, but I worried about money more and felt that I didn't have enough more when I was wealthy than when I was poor. When I was poor, as long as my basic needs were provided for, I didn't really think about or worry about money at all. I don't know if I was necessarily a better person, but I was definitely more spiritually when I didn't have money. The most miserable people that I have ever known have been extremely wealthy. I can't even imagine what it must be like to be a billionaire.

The staff at the Ritz Carlton understand what matters most to us. Having lights under the bed discourages monsters from hiding in the rooms.
