Blake Lively has NEVER had a stylist. She collaborated and inspired the design of the dress, including insisting on the correct number of windows on her crown, another nod to the Statue of Liberry. I cannot imagine anyone up staging this moment, ever. It is sublime, perfectly responding to the assignment while clearly expressing New York and the Golden Age in subtle elegant notes.

The theme was GILDED Age, not Golden Age. Her dress was beautiful BUT had nothing to do with the Gilded Age and evth to do with modern New York.

The joy on her face was palpable, the dress was both classical in its elegance and fashion forward in its execution, and Ms Livelys entrance had all the markings of a great occasion. I think we throw around the word ICON a little too loosely. While I enjoyed Maude Apatows look and glam i wouldn't call her a style icon. She hasn't been in the limelight long enough to earn such a title. Perhaps she will give us more boundary pushing looks throughout her career, but wouldn't call her an ICON such as say Rihanna or Lady Gaga or Sarah Jessica parker etc. For example

I saw photos last night but the video really makes some of them stand out. Alicia Keys’ outfit was absolutely stunning. I didn’t even know Blake Lively’s dress transformed - no question the best look of the night. Not a fan of the neon pinks though. Gilded glamour, you guys. the theme was an homage to “the gilded age” not the use of gilded as in “gilded in gold”. it was meant as a nod to the fashion of that time, so there didn’t necessarily need to be sparkle and shine - but conveying opulence was definitely key
