Trails on the other hand… The world building with the whole franchise combined is great. But each on their own, most were quite lackluster. Particularly Cold steel 1 and 2.

You definitely need to check out Future Redeemed. Let that purchase slide because it's basically it's own game and worth it especially if you've played all of the Xenoblade games and their DLCs. It was a bit of a shame it didn't get a physical release like Torna did though.

@@ataridc I do get the apprehension with buying DLC for a game. I've had a couple instances where I bought the game and DLC and never got to the DLC because I kind of fell of the game before I got to that point. This is why I haven't bought KH3 Remind. In my opinion though since Xenoblade's DLC are standalone games with about as much content as an episode of Xenosaga had they're worth the purchase. Not to mention both Torna and Future Redeemed don't need to be played alongside the base games in order to enjoy them. Their stories just add to the base game. An instance where I wasn't too happy about the DLC was with Final Fantasy XV because it felt like they deliberately cut out content to sell as DLC. I was much more okay with approach episode Ardyn had though and I kind of wish the second wave of DLC actually went all the way through as that would have been the equivalent of Xenoblade's DLC for that game with standalone episodes.

@@koxame Honestly I really enjoyed Future Redeemed more than the base game, something just didn't click that well with me. The story was good, but gameplay wise it felt weaker than 2's even though I've got some big issues with 2's gameplay, gatcha and field skills especially. Future Redeemed fixed quite a few of the issues I had with the base game and added some great incentives to explore the world in that game with the AP system. It was also great to see grown up Shulk and Rex. Yeah I'm bummed they didn't do a physical release for that. I think that's probably because the physical copy of Torna didn't sell that well. It was probably because it was more of a collectors item and most people just bought the season pass instead.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 might be my favorite JRPG ever honestly. I had so much fun with the combat, the story was great, the characters really grew on me, the music… I even enjoyed the DLCs. Just an awesome package of JRPG goodness, played it for over 200hrs which for me is incredibly rare for any kind of game.

1) DQXIS (with a slight difficulty bump from the draconian settings, otherwise a tick top easy) is imo the most complete Jrpg (diverse builds, great story & characters, huge game, great combat & crafting, nice style & music, even if VIII OST was better).. ... 2) Persona 5R comes in 2nd.. ... 3) Xenoblade 3 as 3rd..

I started my journey with Sky FC back in February this year. I really got hooked. 10 consecutive Trails games in 6 months. It was well timed so that I didn't have to wait for Azure or Reverie, I was getting to those games right after they were released (to the west). I just finished Reverie a couple weeks ago, and it was such an amazing payoff to the journey. Someone help me... I'm having Trails withdrawals...

I liked it a lot, but although it's not a JRPG I'm loving Baldur's Gate 3 even more (I'm 130 hours in). It's my first CRPG (if you don't count Skyrim or Kingdoms of Amalur) and it feels like a mix of FFT, FFXII and Skyrim. I advise any JRPG-lover starving for a high production values experience to try it. Great graphics, great music, great characters and story, and great turn-based battle system. I'm not finished and already planned to play it again to play with other characters, other classes and make different choices throughout. Insane replay value too.

@@armorvil I think BG3 should be a category on itself, under "required to play" list, as long as you have ever considered playing games as a form of leisure/entertainment. There is a lot to be learned both from a player's perspective and a developer's perspective from the game. Since irl DnD campaigns may take a lot more commitment to fully immerse yourself and enjoy the experience, this game is really a good stepping stone for players who wish to do so without the available time commitments too. Truly worthy being called game of the year.

But this is more like a ttrpg single player version of world of Warcraft (as far as combat). They have demo versions available. If you don't like it no sweat. If you do, your save carries over to the complete game

@@cmhsky uh yeah I played the demo. I didn't just randomly comment on the gameplay without playing the game. It's shit in my opinion. I'm not against the hybrid system. I am against bad hybrid systems. It's not challenging because it's challenging. It's challenging because the controls suck. I played too many bad games growing up in the 80s to deal with shit controls in 2023. For the record, I mostly enjoy the hybrid system that Square put together for FFVIIR. But, and it's a big BUT, I've also got a love/hate relationship with that game. When the hybrid system works, it works flawlessly. But when it doesn't work, it fails spectacularly. I found the same to be true for DC. So yeah, another great idea for a game that was executed poorly. At the end of the day, there are tons of great ideas. None of those matter. Only the ones that truly bring the idea to life matter. Diofield fails in that regard for me personally. That said, I'm glad that you found enjoyment from it.

I’m a huge Xenoblade fan, and I’m pretty hesitant about buying it digitally. I just dislike buying things digitally especially on Switch where you need to fit everything onto an SD card and accounts for different regions require separate emails and Nintendo accounts. can anyone help me find the name of a game i played before. It's set on a fantasy setting with Action rpg mechanics with different playable characters, the opening scene when you play as the male swordsman was you go to a tavern where you supposed to meet with you fellow knight but when you arrive to the placed you found out it was an ambush and you fight your way out. I also remember that one of the playable female characters she uses guns if i recall.

Tales of Arise was one of the most boring RPG I've got to play, rife with tropes and cliches. It's pretty visuals do not reimburse you for the hours spent playing a story you've played before and reveals you saw coming from a mile away. Stay clear of that one.

Hey Eric Landon RPG You should check out Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space Its produced by the same guy who made Chrono Cross, Masato Kato-san. It feels like his dream project by how much the story feels like a spiritual sequel. It really feels like Chrono Cross was supposed to have a very big roster of characters, and it feels Masato Kato realized his vision in Another Eden.

I saw Ys and Triangle Strategy in the upper rankings, list approved. Rest of the list were also good, I've played all of them(except the recent Trails titles). You have a good taste. I used to like the Trails series too, but I dropped it when they made Estelle and Joshua side characters with little screen time.. and sh*t started to feel like a chore 😢 I played until halfway of Coldsteel 2 and stopped at that. I wonder if the newer titles are worth playing now. I liked it at least up to Ao no Kiseki, it was meh after that. Would love to see them summon Adol into Zemuria continent to destroy Ouroboros, turn Aidios into a member of his harem of Goddesses and just wrap up the series. Kidding aside, I'd pay to see Adol wreck havoc in Zemuria

Do Estelle and Joshua return in later games than Trails in the Skies? I was very miffed at the third TitS (great acronym, I wonder why no one uses it) because it was a completely different type of game.

Tales of Arise was kind of bland and formulaic in regards to the story. Beseria still best Tales story for me.

Arise is so good but i wish they did more than one song for battles. Like dude really? I play it on mute during exploring parts cuz i cant listen to that song anymore
