This has got to be the absolute best helmet review I've seen so far! Instead of just unboxing a helmet and calling it a review like Revzilla does. You can tell that a lot of time went into making this video. Love the way you present factual data in a easy to understand manner so I can decide for myself what I find important. This is even better than what you read in the average motorcycle magazine. You guys are on a whole different level. I wish I knew your channel earlier. Hats off!

What a terrific test. I was not much concerned with price, so you might think I would go for the top helmet. However, I have hearing issues, so the most important factor for me was the quietest helmet, as long as it was good in all categories. It’s the HJC for me!

you guys are the only people i know that actually test this valuable information!!! when people ask me about what helmet to get i always send them to your videos
@villeayras5371 Жыл бұрын
How did the HJC not get full 5 stars for the visor ? Quietest helmet in test means the visor seal is great. It has the additional option of fine tuning the fitment/placement of the inner sun visor. Comes with the pinlock. The actual chin bar mechanism is the best out of all of these and sits close to the helmet when opened making the helmet better and more aerodynamic. And points for the extra dark visors on others offer no extra value at all with helmets that have a drop down sun visor. Whole point of a drop down sun visor is that you don't need a dark outer visor. ???

Interesting. However I understand the LS2 Advant composite is approximately £100 cheaper than the Carbon version and weighs the same, so that puts it way ahead in the value for money stakes!

After seeing this test I decided to buy the former HJC RPHA90S. The newer model RPHA91 is a lot heavier (1740gr vs 1550gr) because of new CE regulations. I'm very happy with this helmet, and with reduced prices this is definitely a winner!

Does the visor still slam down at speeds of 45mph and up ?
@GrijzeRemmel Жыл бұрын
No it doesn't, but I also have a small windsreen on my bike. The visor "clicks" in the most upright position and stays there. Without my windscreen it will still hold. @@Inked_CR
@Dzinbhudist Жыл бұрын
@@Inked_CRI look at this as benefit, don’t need to put hands out from the handlebars and at that speed I naturally want to close the visor and it is much more safer to ride with visor closed 😉

Tried quite a few of these on today, wasn’t impressed with the Schubert chin cover being Velcro and easy to accidentally pull off.. The HJC was comfy but a little pricey in my opinion These are all well made safe helmets but for me 2 important things.. 1. I have a long face with prominent chin.. On this list I think only the Scorpion and LS2 can accommodate that. The Schubert, HJC and Shoei I found my chin pretty much touching the chin bar 2. I ride with Sony nosie cancelling earbuds in. Find sound quality for music much better than any Bluetooth helmet speaker system / comms and with the noise cancelling being very good I don’t mind the ‘sound rating’ of the helmet. Out of the 2 helmets that can accommodate my type of face, I found the Scorpion applied far too much pressure on the ear buds when I was wearing them. The LS2 hardly applied any pressure on them I’m going for the LS2 advant x carbon - also love the fact it comes with separate smoked visor and a nice carry bag for it (not just a drawstring one). Just got to decide whether to go for the cheaper all black one or the black with red white and blue highlights which looks ace

Awsome review and the best way I've seen to calculate for a best all-around helmet. Here in the US the sportmodular is constantly around the $600 mark while shoei or schuberth never really dip below $750. Seem like that the biggest thing holding the AGV back in this is the price.

I appreciate the no-nonsense approach, can you elaborate on the difference between a regular and an advanced visor mechanism?
@Championhelmets Жыл бұрын
Great question, manufacturers will often call their spring mechanism 'advanced', what they usually mean by this is that the visor will fit the helmet perfectly, even after years of use.

What’s the benefit of that 22.06 certification? Is it different per type of helmet?
@Championhelmets Жыл бұрын
Helmets that have the 22.06 certification have passed stricter safety tests compared to the previous 22.05 standard. It's not necessarily different per helmet type, but these new safety standards include requirements for the chin-bars of modular helmets (they must stay in place during a collision). Great question!

Rhis is the information i needed! What is the difference between a regular pinlock and the Maxvision pinlock?

Glad it helped! A maxvision pinlock prevents a greater span of the visor from fogging up, whereas a regular pinlock only covers the key areas on the visor.

I purchased the HJC RPHA 91 helmet over a month ago. I have an issue with the exterior shield slamming closed at any speed over 45 mph. The retention mechanism for the shield in the open position is weak compared to all the helmets I have owned over 35 years. I sent my concerns to HJC and they sent to their quality control dept. I have not heard anything despite me sending two follow up emails. I would not recommend this helmet as this is a major issue for me and due to the lack of support from HJC. I wont be purchasing any other HJC products

HJC RPHA 91 is light years ahead of these other helmets. The whole front mechanism alone is enough to put it above the rest. The Neotec 2 is ancient, needs updated. AGV's are made in China, no thanks.

Great review, BUT in my opinion you're comparing apples to oranges. Flip-up and flip-back helmets are completely different. I'd never buy a flip-up one . They should be evaluated separately.
@Championhelmets Жыл бұрын
We disagree on that. Thank you for sharing your opinion though
@wanderleisantosfilho5765 Жыл бұрын
@@Championhelmets prove me wrong then. Have a survey asking if flip up and flip-back should be evaluated separately. Or at least list it so we know without having to look somewhere else. Flip up helmets are right there with leather fringes and chaps.
@jamesmullen75 Жыл бұрын
@@wanderleisantosfilho5765 The HJC RPHA 91 actually gives you the benefits of a flip back design (lower center of gravity) without all the complications those helmet designs typically employ. It does this by pulling the chin bar as close as possible to the shell when you lift it up. It has a uniquely designed pivot point to accomplish this. I think the decision to buy a flip or back helmet rests solely on whether you ride more with the chin bar down or up. I think the vast majority of people buying these style of helmets ride with the chin bar down except for the occasional rides through towns along the way.. but even then you tend to go so slow that the extra weight up high tends not to matter from an aerodynamics perspective. If you like a flip back helmet then it really comes down to HJC, LS2, and Shark right?
