i have green neon tetras. Why are they so shy?

Hello! Thank you for watching and commenting! There are many reasons why they could be doing this. 1: Their school is not big enough 2: The water parameters are not to their liking 3: They are hiding from another fish. Then again, tetras are known for being a shy species, that can easily get scared, so it’s not uncommon behaviour.

What do you mean parameters and I think they are hiding from me bc when I watch from far away they are swimming every where

@@FreshwaterFocusYes! This is definitely the reason. They are very shy fish, and are known to school only when no one is near.

One thing you could do is add what is called a “dither fish”. They are fish that are outgoing and energetic. This makes the other fish (like your green neons,) feel safer and more relaxed. This will encourage them to come out.
