I always thought it was a missed opportunity that Ritual monsters were main deck monsters in the old days instead of extra deck. But now with these insane effects that's kind of a moot point. Even still, I wonder if it would break the game to allow Ritual monsters to be placed into either your main or extra deck these days (and deal with "return to hand/deck" mechanics somehow). Considering newer ritual cards are balanced around the inherently negative summoning conditions of ritual monsters, I assume it would.
@Bezaliel132 жыл бұрын
No, just NO. Synchros powercrept the game like crazy and they would have been NOTHING compared to ED Rituals being "Fusyonchros" by not needing a Tuner, not needing an exact total, not needing to use a second monster, nor needing them *ON FIELD.* Do not bother trying to say "while Rituals can use generic monsters, _Fusions can use generic Spells"_ because the Fusions that say "you do not use Polymerization" were due to how Poly was originally *the only way to Fuse,* so the three copies of several different Ritual Spells would have had only three Polies to "compete" with *from the start.* I do not care the early Fusion and Ritual Monsters sucked, for you could have made a whole deck of only high LV monsters and Ritual Spells to outspeed everything, especially back before Synchros caused the Fusion Deck to become the Extra Deck with only fifteen cards. _As for doing it now, the basic mechanic would powercreep the Extra Deck by taking the one advantage of Fusions while Synchro, Xyz, Links need materials on Field, and only Links can also be summoned with only one monster, yet a Link-1 could not possibly compete with a LV8 Ritual in power_
@feder3732 жыл бұрын
@@Bezaliel13 Dude, you're overreacting a bit. First, fusion spells are always alive if you have materials AND had good searchers and recyclers since the beginning of the game (including a costless spell), while ritual spells got their first searcher later and it ate up the Normal Summon on a low ATK body. And since they only work with specific monsters in most cases, they are inherently more inconsistent apart from the at least minus 1, weaknesses that wouldn't go for most Ritual decks even if the monsters were in the ED. And you should know that in the current game state it's easier to get more monsters on the field than resources in the hand, because searchers and drawing have more restrictions than summoning effects. That's why Maxx C was banned. So, the actual reason the Ritual Monsters shouldn't go in the ED is 1) it conflicts with lots of effects that work with them being in the hand, and 2) some archetypes are already too consistent, and would be even better if they didn't have to run their bosses in the Main Deck, but both of these issues didn't exist before 2015, with the release of Nekroz.
@Bezaliel132 жыл бұрын
@@feder373 I am not "overreacting," I just heard this dumb idea before. Anyway, I see you are also against ED Ritual, bur what would Fusion's searching and/or recycling have mattered in the hypothetical situation of Rituals starting in the Fusion Deck *when Rituals had unlimited different Spells?* I mean, why should someone care about searching Chakra's Ritual Spell when Super War Lion was not that much weaker?
@feder3732 жыл бұрын
Well, the thing is that ritual spells are useless if you run out of enough levels to tribute, and at the same time, you may risk being OTK'd if your Ritual Monsters are destroyed and your deck mostly consists of high level tributes that can't be summoned easily. While fusion recycling effects usually let you get at least 1 of the materials aside of the spell (which would be too powerful for ritual tributes as they're generic), and materials are usually low level monsters that can be useful in more cases. I'm not even mentioning the fact that Fusion Monsters usually had good effects, while rituals didn't.
@Bezaliel132 жыл бұрын
@@feder373 No idea why getting "Raigeki'd or Dark Holed" would result in an OTK, but that argument only "works" on my *exaggeration* of a Ritual deck. Not to mention why a little recycling would be better when my exaggeration on needed practically any two cards to Ritual again. Counterpoint; I summon Sonic Bird to bring out Relinquished to steal the biggest enemy. Maybe use the first Effect Ritual to Fuse the first Effect Fusion. "I'm not even mentioning the fact that Fusion Monsters" were crazy early in the game, like Aqua Dragon, Fusoinist, Skullgon, Fusions that needed Fusions,* Metal Dragon, etc. * Rare Fish, it was Rare Fish. Seriously, Rare Fish basically shows how and why Instant Fusion was made.

Inspired by the Black Luster Soldier series of support shown in this video... Top 10 cards that inherit/bestow effects onto other cards. Such as with Evening Twilight Knight and Beginning Knight. If they're used for the Ritual Summon of Black Luster Soldier (Super Soldier or regular), they can use the effects these cards grant, no matter the state of the materials after the fact. Giving cards new effects they wouldn't have normally is a really interesting perk that a fair amount of cards utilise. I think it'd be neat to explore what cards there are that do this and how they can be utilised. On topic to the video itself, I've thought for a while that Nekroz seemed conceptually very interesting, and that's lead me to assemble a Nekroz deck in Duel Links. Quite recently I've finally completed the deck outside of some minor Extra Deck optimisation and I've been having a lot of fun with them, even if their current state is somewhat limited. They're competent enough right now, at least, in particular thanks to the recent addition of Nekroz of Trishula and Manju. I know that there's a limit to what they can add for the archetype without risking the game's balance, but still do I eagerly await further support to help further round out the deck and improve its currently somewhat shakey consistency. I may try building up Nekroz in Master Duel somewhere down the line as well...

@@shapesnatch1341 True, it's not as good now. But it's still something that helped define the meta and then some. Even as a legacy spot, it still holds power as a rogue due to its contact fusions for removing Machines and monsters in the Extra Monster zone(s).

@@azuredragoon2054 I think best thing abt Cyber Dragon was not only did it summon itself for no cost or restriction, but it also had more attack points than almost any monster that could be normal summoned. Even a lot of the high attack level 4 monsters with restrictions had less attack than cyber dragon

I love the Mikanko Ohime Ritual. Ohime can search it from deck herself at the cost of 1 discard. Preferably discard equip spells. Get 5 to 7 equip spells into the GY prior the ritual summon and then you can destroy 5 to 6 cards and for each deal 1k burn damage. This is some really nice turn 2 kills.

A link 1 monster (requires a gishki) that treats ranks and links as levels for ritual summons and you can tribute it to fulfill the remaining level requirement in a Gishki ritual summon is what I came up with. Though I mostly came up with it to make Forbidden Arts of the Gishki useful at getting rid of the opponent's annoying extra deck monsters it helps with the Zielgigas and Gustkraken turbo too

While watching the video, I was thinking that a solution to make ritual monsters better in modern yugioh, was to have a rule that "every time a ritual magic card is successfully activated, and a ritual monster is successfully summoned" the controller of the card draws 1 card to support the loss of efficiency that ritual monsters have compared to extra deck monsters... but from the top 5 onwards I realized that this would be even more game breaking xDD

While it's not on this list, there's a little thing about Chaos Form. Because it lists BLS, Preprep let's you search it, but ONLY in the TCG. In the OCG, because BLS is called Chaos Soldier, Chaos Form says it can be used for any "Chaos" ritual monster, which makes it not a target for Preprep.

I thought Dogmatikamacabre would be a little higher on the list due to how easy it is to fufill it's requiremenst in a ritual dogmatika build The only reason I could see why some of the other ones were put over it was due to past format accomplishments. even if it's secondary effect isn't that hard to pull of and is a lot bigger pay off esspecially since both White knight and White Relic also rip cards out of the extra deck.

Let's face it, ever since Drytron was introduced, it's basically the go to for Riturals, except Relinquished for whatever reason
@Carlet_S2 жыл бұрын
Pebble rule, you can't ritual summon without tributing at least one monster, but you also can't go over the tribute treshold, since Meteonis checks for ATK, and Relinquished has 0 ATK, you meet the treshold without actually tributing anything, and since you already hit the treshold, you can't keep tributing machines, therefore, you can't summon Relinquished with Meteonis at all. If it makes you feel any better, Relinquished has a buddy in Litmus Doom Swordsman in the "can't be summoned by the Drytron ritual" corner.

I don’t think Super Soldier Synthesis can be searched via Pre-preparation of rites. It’s because it says “BLS” ritual monster, and not [BLS] (the vanilla ritual). You cannot search for BLS the archetype with Super Soldier Synthesis and Super Soldier Ritual

My brother had a Paladin of White Dragon which usually was his ace monster since he had 3 spell or equip cards that would boost the attack and defense over 4000.
