How can you have an honest top 10 best, when you have only tried/own 10? Anyway I really enjoyed your video and you should re-do it after you have used 20 or more Spydercos. After that the GB2 may still remain your #1! It is such an under rated knife because it isn’t fidgety, the recessed scales and tight access to the liner lock (which I like for safety). For actually cutting and using it’s hard to beat!

Spyderco is nice. Sprint Runs are stupid. And the price trend is not a good thing. PM2 to me is ok. It must be in the list, but it is an aged design classic and an icon. Military to me always looked out of proportion. Not my cup of tea. Native Chief is the better Police. Manix is great but the aggressive chomping in the liners bugs me big time. Bradley 2 is nice. Not favourite of many Spyderco guys. Of course this must be a cutting performer as it is designed by a cut competition master. But the poor access to the liber. Makes it a real bummer and not my nr 1 at all for that reason. Poor usability design not worthy for such an knife specialist as Bradley. You should check out the Caribbean. On of the most underrated Soydues in my opinion. A Shaman would be an option as a Native on steroids. Spydiechef is interesting too. But too expensive for what it is … like the Shaman. But I love me a good Smock. Nice unusual Asian style design. Sweet and very comfortable compression lock variant. Flipper is ok. Only the holes in the scales are on the dislike side for me on this one. Conceptwise I dig the sun and moon themed Capharral. A godly thin slicer but also a tiny knife. There are lots of sweet options to discover.

I warmed up to the PM2 years after buying them. The pm2 appear to be too fragile to me particularly the tip. I started to carry one in k390. Thanks for the video much appreciated 😎👍

Like to carry one knife for a longer period as well. Makes you bond with it more. The Military is a good one, the liner feels so different to many liner locks, the Socom has that slight stick, which i still like, although people hate that. The Pm2 needs an update. I am thinking about 3D contured scales. The Stretch with straight spine should be always in production. Very underrated knife i believe.

It seems like all Spyderco is doing is putting different steel/colors on the same 15-20 knives. I don’t think it’s good for the hobby. I have a few sprints but want no part of chasing them around. The DF2 is an excellent design and knife. I have 5 variants and have cut a mile of even heavy duty cardboard with a few of them. I own the old Sage 1 which I think is the best. They do liner locks well. I’m 6’4 and 270lbs but like smaller knives. I can get 3 fingers behind choil on DF2 and 3 1/2 with choil. I hate knives that force me to use the choil. The Sage and Native are a little like that. My hand feels too far back behind choil but still doable. Spyderco sucks at making frame locks/flippers. They should hire the Chinese to teach them how to make a good one. I hope the manual MT Socom Elites come back in stock. I’m kicking myself I didn’t get one or two more last time. I have 2 now and the quality and tolerances are excellent. With the design and light aluminum, it carries well. I don’t like big knives but the Socoms are my favorite. Good video and your explanations made sense.
@itsaknifestyle84823 жыл бұрын
It’s not my favorite thing in the world, but one thing you need to keep in mind is that Spyderco is a business and if they make money of sprints they will keep doing them. You have excellent reasons for each choice. I am a big Manix2 lightweight fan. I have the s110v blade. It's great but a little chippy. However, you don't have my Spyderco fetish knife, the Chaparral. I have the carbon fibre and the frn versions. This is the best knife for me. It's from the Taiwan factory and has excellent fit and finish. It is probably the most slicey Spyderco ever. It is a backlock and doesn't have that awful for lefties compression lock. The frn on the Chaparral is the best quality frn Spyderco has ever made. If you had the Chappy it would replace easily a few of the knives on your list. It's only 2 ounces. My view is that Spyderco make great knives but that they charge for them. Whilst I would like more, I stick to the Manix2 and the Chaparral because they cover my needs. I live in Europe and the longer knives are a no go.

I would have picked the GB2 as my #1 out of your collection too. It's a highly optimized slicing blade with a classy look. I do wish the handle was contoured but they can always add that in on the GB3 if they ever make it. Your collection is missing a Kapara though. The Kapara is the #1 in my own collection. It's an ergonomic dream with atleast 3 different grips and as someone who does the majority of their cutting in the kitchen it's the second best Spyderco I could own. I've been a knife enthusiast a long time. Bought my first gen Endura around 1994. Still one of my favorite Spyderco's. But tbh I've moved on from the brand. I prefer tools with a more neutral grip and that is not Spyderco. And their trademark Spydie Hole and leaf shaped blades makes many of their popular designs wide in the pocket. Personally, the lightweights are Spydercos best knives. But Chris Reeve nailed it with the Sebenza. The knife is made for work and built to last. If I could only have one knife thats the one.
