I agree with your top, especially with Chrono Trigger as number one. My concern is why is missing from the list Secret of Mana? This is one of the most beautiful and atmospheric rpg on Snes. The "problem" on Snes is that you can't have a top 10, there are more masterpiece games on this console.

Scott89878 Some years ago I did some first time in life tour of Castlevania (had never played it) and went 1, (skipped 2 because reasons cough), 3, then went for Rondo of Blood blah blah some others, SotN. It wasn't until SotN that I thought "damn this is so much fun". Some time later I realized I had skipped one I did not know of: Super Castlevania IV And it fucking blew my mind. That game is amazing and deserves MUCH more attention, it's the best in the classic series by far and maybe one of the best in the whole series imo.

Castlevania 4 slipped under the radar for me and many others back in the day. Castlevania 4 is also more evidence that games back in the day were good because I came back to find it in 2014 and it blew my mind, yet newer games never do this.

Super Mario World was my first Snes game when I was younger with another game called Soul Blazer I played both these two game for hours and hours and later I played Super Mario World 2 and Chrono Trigger a lot too. Good old memories I wish I could go back... =/

Glenn the Frog if you got a PSP theres a megaman X port called "maverik hunter X" (i think i got it right). Its the same like the orignal but more 3d graphics and you can play as a secret char which i won't spoil :). Super fun! I would highly suggest that if you got a psp. Just hack the psp and download its easy to hack it. If you need help go to the forum pspiso.com people helped me there!

best Zelda game overall, I also really enjoyed "Links Awakening" for the original gameboy. Also I think "Legend of the four swords" was underrated, it was fun using the gba with the gamecube and being able to play with friends who were equally into Zelda games.

But then i could say where's Yoshi's Island...Then i could go on just naming games as i scratch my chin but i have to say i still have a "chipped" region free SNES with about 50 games and at least 2/3 of the games are boxed and at least a half of them are JAP-NTSC stuff. SNES has so many masterpieces that reduce them to "only" 10 best games leaves many out, for example Tales of Phantasia, this, FFVI and Chrono Trigger, for me, are in first place, there's too Super Casltevania IV, Secret of Mana, Yoshi's Island: Super Mario World 2, besides all of mentioned here, Top Gear 1, 2 and 3000, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV, Contra 3 - The Alien Wars, and a long etcetera.

It's possible that the person who made the list just doesn't like Earthbound. Personally, I don't find it all that spectacular, albeit it was good and I like the end boss, but not amazing, and it's a bit mellow-dramatic to say it's insulting that it's not on here, just because you liked it.

I am a lucky girl to find that chanel. Nice vid and I found a lot of my own SNES classics here. Loved to play Starfox, Megaman X especially and DKC. David Wise did a great job and again nowadays with DKCTF, nicely done! Legend of Zelda was really one of those games I played most. May I ask what year you were born in ? I was born in 1990 .. but I really doubt I would have been able to comprehend games like Secret of Mana, Chrono trigger etc. I played all other games you mentioned and finished them (not sure about star fox) .. but RPG's weren't translated where I live, did not speak English back then and I was simply too young to comprehend most RPG's I guess .. that said I never had an RPG on my SNES I ask because I want to know if there were actually kids that were born 1990 and after that played RPG's .. I mean I never had RPG's back then so I'm not sure if I Would have understood/liked them or would have been able to play them ..but I'm guessing I probably wouldn't.

Fucking. Chrono Trigger. There shouldn't even be a #1 spot on ANY SNES list. It should be reserved and guarded for CT. It should quite literally be an offense of humanity to not love this game and have placed it in the number one spot, and be punishable by ejection into space on the exterior of a rocket, because you do not even deserve to be executed on Earth soil. That was the absolute peak of RPG's, Square, and the SNES.

***** You also have to realize a lot of lists are nostalgia-based. My top 10 would probably have Chrono Trigger closer to 9 or 10. I simply never played it as a kid. I grew up playing Mario All-Stars, Top Gear 3000, Aladdin, and a few other games that would probably make my list higher up. Hell, Mario All-Stars would probably be above Mario World, and Yoshi's Island wouldn't even be on the list. Lists are all dependent on what the person's played and when they played it.

+Nikos Politis SoM is seriously remarkable in the aesthetic department... visually & musically, the environments felt so fantastical yet believable. Every once and a while I listen through its soundtrack again. So good! That said, its gameplay has not aged well. Level & dungeon design was a bit uninspired at times, and many of the maps were unforgiving in their size - so much travel time with little reward. And the story wasn't much to write home about either. While I love SoM visually and musically, I'd be OK not playing it ever again after a replay I did a few years ago. In the end, I would recommend someone who has never played any SNES games before each of the games on this list before SoM - unless if they have more of an RPG bend to them.

Even though I agree that this is a list for people who can enjoy rpgs, I dont agree that this is a rpg lovers list. Afterall a rpg lovers list would be filled with mostly rpgs while a fighting game would have list full of mostly fighting games. The order isnt as important as the list itself since you cant expect other people to like what you like in the order that you like them. Super Metroid and Link to the Past are still up there pretty high on the list as well.

+David Moore I don't agree with that either. Chrono Trigger is a game that has been enjoyed even by people who aren't into rpgs that much or at least into turn based rpgs that much. I've heard of Chrono Trigger being at the top of so many lists that it isn't quite like that. As I said this is a list for people who can enjoy rpgs but not necessarily for people who prefer rpgs over everything else or else you would have seen more rpgs. My list for instance would have almost exclusively rpgs. Chrono Trigger is probably the most accessible snes rpg due a lot of design choices that make the game not grindy, simple to understand, etc. A Link to the Past and Metroid although they do have some rpg elements in them they are much more focused on action and exploration. Although these two games have some story in them it is fairly minimal. There is a reason they are called action adventure games and not action rpgs. 2nd and 3rd is no joke. There are only 3 rpgs in this list, there are 3 action platformers, 2 action adventures, 1 racer, 1 shooter. It is safe to say this person isn't that much into shooters or racers but the action adventures are pretty high up there and there are 3 action platformers as well. Super Mario RPG is also a very accessible rpg for people who are not that much into rpgs or turn based rpgs. One I would expect to find on lists for people who enjoy rpgs but aren't that into them. Final Fantasy VI though is the only one I wouldn't expect to find on nonrpg lovers lists however the game is constantly mentioned as one of the best snes games and its plot is pretty interesting. However Super Mario RPG is at the tenth spot and Final Fantasy VI is at the 6th spot with Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, A Link to the Past, and Super Metroid beating it. I assure you, this is not an rpg lovers list. Final Fantasy VI would be much higher if it was.

10: Megaman X (Just a ton of fun!) 9: Joe and Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics (How on Earth is this not talked about) 8: Street Fighter Turbo (One of the greatest straight up combat games ever) 7: Super Mariokart (The great Mariokart series would not be a thing without it) 6: Kirby’s Dream Land 3 (A simple but really fun plat-former that I love) 5: A Link To the Past (Just an amazing achievement that’s incredible) 4: Super Metroid (The gameplay is incredibly suspenseful) 3: Starfox (I can play this game for hours on end and it never gets old) 2: Super Mario World (Has the best levels and power ups in the franchise) 1: Donkey Kong Country (The game that got me into video games)
