Reasons for my selections:
Jacksonville has advantage over Disney for:
Even though it’s noticeably smaller, it is far more natural looking
Disney also lacks in the signage department
Underwater viewing
Offers more enrichment
Knoxville has advantage over Jacksonville for:
4,000 square feet of more space
Compared to Jacksonville’s, the enclosures aren’t as narrow so the tigers can get away from the fencing
More viewing opportunities
Also two underwater viewings
Better education
Columbus has advantage over Knoxville for:
Far more natural / has more shade and privacy
Less visible fencing
More varied terrain
Slightly more space
Omaha has advantage over Columbus for:
Has even more varied terrain, enough to hide the back fencing
Better waterworks (natural looking stream and pool)
Has more space with one enclosure than Columbus does with two
Nashville has advantage over Omaha for:
Cultural significance and educational value is through the roof
Is slightly larger, but so lush that it’s often hard to find the tigers (a negative for us but a positive for the cats)
San Diego Zoo Safari Park has advantage over Nashville for:
Also culturally significant
Has three enclosures, each different in their own way
Has 14,000 more square feet of space
Bronx Zoo’s Tiger Mountain has advantage over SDZSP and the others for:
Being great without having a theme, style, or any over the top flashiness
Underwater viewing stocked with large fish
Has over 35,000 square feet more than than SDZSP and 50,000 more than Omaha
Bronx’s Monorail exhibit has advantage over Tiger Mountain for:
Ditto minus the underwater viewing
Has the ultimate privacy advantage since their exhibit is closed to the public for half the year
Minnesota has advantage over all for:
Education and hands on signage
Is at least an acre larger than the rest
Both habitats are equally amazing, rather than one falling short in quality compared to the other
Can see tiger up close one moment and far in the distance from a vista in the next
According to Google Maps there may even be a massive private yard in between the two public spaces, which would make the entire complex actually 3.5 acres

Looking at Brookfield Zoo’s placement in the description, I am not surprised. Hopefully with the Brookfield Zoo Century Year plan, they plan to give their tiger(s) and the other large residents at the Fragile Kingdom an upgrade. It does look like so far the Snow Leopard(s) will get a unique home.

I well remember the first time I saw Woodland Park Zoo's new tiger exhibit in 2016. At one point a tiger right came up to the window where I was and sat down. Aside from the thickness of the glass, there was literally no space between my hand and his fur! And I told myself "Remember this moment, because you are never going to get any closer to a live tiger!"

Will add that Bronx actually rotates the subspecies on display on the Wild Asia Monorail too, I’ve seen both Amur and Malayan in the exhibit

Very good top 10 Tiger Exhibits. Maybe a few top 10 list ideas could be; Top 10 Elephant Exhibits, Top 10 African Jungle Exhibits, and Top 10 small animal/reptile complexes. I have been a subscriber since the early days of your channel and I am so happy to see how much it has grow, I definately look forward to seeing additional tours of the Minnesota and Omaha Zoo in the near future

I did not expect Minnesota to make number 1 but I'm glad that my childhood zoo made the list. Definitely alot of fond memories with this exhibit. I also realized how unique Minnesota's tiger exhibit is compared to other zoos and that it's a simulated eastern Siberian forest and not a jungle temple.

@@ZooTours Ah, well hope you come back soon! He is still a spontaneous bundle of joy! He will be around for quite a while I bet. Until mom kicks him out when he gets too old. Also, a sad but interesting thing about our Tiger enclosure story. The ancient walls depict how the past owner of the temples sadly hunted the great tigers around the area on elephant back. But once the owners were gone and the temple was reclaimed by nature and the tigers! A cool story how nature reclaims what we take eventually, and a new monarchy can rise now cladded in orange, white and black. :)

I’m definitely not in full agreement with some of your top picks, but this is a great video all the same! It could be nice to see this format with other charismatic megafauna: rhino, gorilla, giraffe, and notably elephant. Only thing is you could start a war in the comments with an elephant one lol. So i’ve been to 25 AZA zoological facilities and my personal favorite tiger exhibits from least to greatest 10: Memphis-Sumatran-Used to have Bengals 9: Saint Louis-Amur 8: San Diego-Malayan 7: Jacksonville-Malayan/Sumatran 6: Cincinnati-Malayan 5: Disney’s Animal Kingdom-Sumatran 4: Cleveland-Amur 3: Akron-Sumatran 2: San Diego Zoo Safari Park-Sumatran 1: Columbus-Amur I haven’t been to Omaha, Bronx or Minnesota yet but they are on my lists to see.

I don't think it's fair to say that the Bronx Zoo's Tiger Mountain doesn't include any theming. The exhibit is meant to represent the region of Far-East Russia where Siberian Tigers occur in nature. If I remember correctly, the exhibit includes a mockup of a research station and a poachers truck as well as an area dealing with the zoo's enrichment program and husbandry training.

I think to see a captive yet healthy bengal tiger in a big, realistic and rich habitat in a us facility, you might wanna visit the wild animal sanctuary in keenesburg, colorado. Most aza accredited zoos house malayan, sumatran and siberian tigers, right?

To my knowledge there are no pure Bengal Tigers in the US which is why the AZA doesn't keep them and it's so difficult to find a good exhibit for one

All “Bengal tigers” kept in North America and Europe are actually mixes between Bengal, Malayan, Indochinese, and Amur tigers (some so called Bengals don’t even have Bengal genes!), they are extreme rare outside India. And correct it’s very rare to see these mixed cats (often called Zoomix) in decent exhibits. Cougar Mountain Zoo in Washington seems to have a decent exhibit for them, and Memphis keeps them alongside their Sumatrans (although theirs are all geriatric so they may have passed by now)

While I havent been to much zoos compared to you here is my rank of tiger exhibits ive seen. 1) Knoxville Zoo. BY FAR the best tiger exhibit ive seen, and its not really close. 2) Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, with out a doubt the best AUMUR tiger exhibit ive seen and its not even close. 3) Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden (could swap Cincy and Cleveland but gave the edge to cincy just for the pure scenery and atmosphere of Cat Canyon) 4) Cleveland Metropark Zoo 5) Louisville Zoo (Sumatran Tiger). Very unique rotational habitats for the sumatran tigers 6) Zoo Atlanta 7) Memphis Zoo 8) Louisville Zoo (Auburn Tiger). Its an adequate habitat but nothing really eye popping about it. 9) Indianapolis Zoo, while its not bad per say, its also not great 10) Toledo Zoo and Aquarium, arguably the worst tiger exhibit in an AZA facility

Tiger-tastic! Yet, the San Diego Zoo Safari Park's Tiger Trail exhibit is amazing when I was there back in 2015! Bengal Tiger is My Favorite Tiger, I like for him to get So Large Enclosure with Natural Parts from Indian Jungle, Temple Parts and Big Lake for swimming. 🐅🌏🛕🌴🌺🌾
