WE NEED A MARTIN ERA BOX SET!!! I rank him 4th behind Ozz, dio and gillan. But that's 4th place behind 3 GODS, so that is no insult. I have at least two copies of each on vinyl(well, cross purposes only 2 cuz it's bookoo expensive, the rest at least 4), but would love to see them properly dressed up. As well as Born Again.

Wow! The list I've been waiting for so now I have clicked the subscribe button. Chris Alo is great and always entertaining, as well as knowledgeable. Love the Tony Martin era, but found it hard to make a top 10-list. 'Nightwing' is number one for me, for sure. Top 3 Sabbath song ever and perhaps even number one in my book. 'Kiss of death' is an underrated song from Forbidden and certainly in my top 10. 'Cross purposes' is one of my most played records ever. Loved it when I got it on my 12th birthday 1994 and love it even more nowadays. If you haven't checked out the songs Tony Martin sang on and wrote for Misha Calvin's album 'evolution' (1993), please do. Not as heavy as Sabbath, but still good, especially the song 'Reaper'. Keep up the good work and hope you have Chris back on the show in the near future!

Love the props given to the Martin Era. Been a Sabbath fan since 1976. Love every lineup. Martin is my favorite Sabbath singer. Yes Dio is amazing, especially in Rainbow. Ozzy fit the original sound more than either singer, no finer era overall! But Tony Martin just worked for me.

Much respect guys for even doing this episode...... Martin era Sabbath needs the recognition, and its great to see it finally happening. Eternal Idol was my first full Sabbath album and I was hooked immediately, been a huge Martin fan ever since till date, and Eternal Idol is still one of my all time fave albums top to bottom. Totally agree with Chris, any song off that album, even the brief instrumentals could be honorable mentions. I could never understand Martin being written off at the time as a Dio "clone", i mean how shallow was that ???? The guy had his own voice and was really belting it out on all those albums with Sabbath. A special mention also to the drumming on Eternal Idol, I believe it was a combination of Bev Bevan on some tracks and Eric Singer on the others, if that's true they were both awesome on that album. Hard Life To Love and Glory Road are both seriously underrated songs off that album, absolutely brilliant guitars, vocals and drums on both those tracks. Respect

About the 1992 tour that TM did with Cozy Powell and Neil Murray, the guitar player was Mario Parga. And Geoff never played in this tour, he was with Sabbath on the Dehumanizer tour at the time. Tony said to me that there were pre recorded keyboards. And the Sabbath tracks they played included Anno Mundi, The Lawmaker and Headless Cross, but no Jerusalem

Great to see you two in a Sabbath video! And yeah, the Tony Martin era doesn't get enough credit. Admittedly, it isn't on an Ozzy or Dio level era for me, but it's a really solid period that adds up upon Sabbath's great discography.

Dude, I can't pick 10 songs from the musically greatest era of the band. The first 3 Martin records are my favorite Sabbath records so I could choose 10 random songs, but that means other great songs would be omitted, and I just can't allow that :) For real, when I listen to Sabbath, it' usually The eternal idol, Headless cross or Tyr, and sometimes a couple of Ozzy records, but that's it. Btw, I haven't heard about that Steve Grimmett scenario, but I would have been a blast.

Glad to see you showing some love for can't get close enough from Forbidden, I think that's one of the better songs on that album because it almost doesn't sound like a Black Sabbath song. Especially because of that intro melody and vocal echoes. The song on the album I really like is Get a Grip, it's got a really good riff. The rest of Forbidden is not very good I agree. Some of the songs from the Tony Martin era I really like are The Shining, Headless Cross, When Death Calls, Hard Life to Love and Nightmare. I'm working on a Sabbath album ranking, so watch this space!
