Holy is only highly effectve against enemies who live within death. Holy being superior to shadow makes no sense, and since the Tree in the new DLC is literally strangling the Erdtree, I'd say shadow > holy.

Bloodhound's Fang was some kind of an oversight on the balance team. With 80 STR/DEX it does more damage than even the Greatsword (or any pure physical colossal sword for that matter), and almost all physical colossal weapons, while attacking 2 or 3 times faster, being buffable, having bleed, having higher jump attack modifiers and having one of the best melee based Ash of War. And it's great early game with only investing abit in dex, and you can get it 5 minutes into the game. I don't thing is an exaggeration to say that it is the best pure melee (no projectiles, no spells) weapon in the game, or even in Souls history.

I got the Platinum because I made a build around using the Blasphemous Blade. I just wanted to have a build that would do well against Malenia, and I heard she is weak to fire, and that Blasphemous Blade helped a lot of people in her fight. I wasn't aware that I made a build that completely trivialized the fight. I didn't even go with the most OP setup either. I think I got to Malenia around level 140, with about 50 Faith. I only buffed with Golden Vow, Flame Grant Me Strength and the Fire-Cracked Tear. My jaw dropped when the first hit from Taker's Flames registered around 2,800 damage. Imagine how much that would've been if I used the Fire-Scorpion Charm, or had actually gone to Farum Azula to kill Alexander to get his shard. Just spamming Taker's Flames meant Malenia spent most of the fight on the ground, and struggled to get anywhere close to me when she actually could stand on two feet.

😂 there is plenty if ways to cheese her. You could also just use a guts or zweihander with stomp upward swing or giant hunt. You'll stun lock her in her knocked down animation. Lot off diffeent ways to beat her easy.

Dark Moon Greatsword is my favorite weapon of all....with the Blasphemous blade ( easy mode ) all you have to do with enemies resistant to fire is use Ancient Dragons ' Lightning Strike with 2 gravel stone seals ( one is enough ) and that's it...great weapon

A great weapon to flex into a Blasphemous Blade build to deal with fire-resistant enemies is the Envoy's Long Horn. It has similar requirements and scaling to Blasphemous Blade, even to the important detail that its unique skill scales exclusively off of Faith.

Quick tip, for ordovis's greatsword(one of my fav weapons,) that weapon, and weapons like it(death poker for example,) have their melee dmg scaling through the scaling ratios the game will show you, but then the skills, if they do holy or magic damage, like ordovis' greatsword or death poker, those SKILLS(L2's) will scale purely off of faith and int respectively

Quick Trivia about Silurian tree and Ordovis GS Their C scaling in Faith is not the same Siluria tree C scaling in faith is actually 20% lower than its B scaling in strength Strength scaling B (104) vs Faith scaling C ( 81) Meanwhile Ordovis Strength scaling B (142) , Faith scaling (63) Siluria tree scales almost equally with strenght and faith, you will do way more holy damage on its ash of war if you spec into faith only and way more physical if you go with strenght, and frankly the AR difference 80 str vs 80 Faith is almost nonexistent 80 Faith with Siluria tree = 702 80 Strenght with silluria tree = 729 is meanwhile Ordovis greatsword Faith scaling is almost garbage even so it’s C like Siluria Siluria is a Faith AND strength weapon Ordovis is a pretty much a pure strenght weapon that happens to have a minuscule Faith requirement

Holy damage might be in last place but I feel how bad it is is sometimes over exaggerated, enough runners of the game have proven you’re still getting fine damage with the right build, plus judging a weapon’s effectiveness on how it performs on like the last 3-4 bosses of the game isn’t exactly fair

I ran a Blasphemous Blade build, and it was only with that build have I actually completed an All Remembrances run. I did switch to using the Envoy's Long Horn in the fights against Mohg and Placidusax. The former because he is 80% resistant to fire, and the latter because he is a large target that will get hit by every bubble from the Long Horn's unique skill. There are still situations in the game where Holy damage is a good option.

Last 3-4 bosses isnt true, every remembrance boss besides regal ancestor spirit has resistance to holy damage. And saying you can still do fine damage with the right build isnt saying much considering you can say that about pretty much any weapon in the game. It's not that it's all that hard to beat the game using a holy weapon, it's just comparatively there are almost always better options due to the damage type that will just output more damage. Envoys long horn, silurias tree, ordovis', and black knife are really the only holy damage weapons that come close to being/are top tier weapons.

For me Marais' Executioner Sword is still the best weapon. Requieres some specific set up but is the real boss melter. Can be mixed with Mohgwyn Sacred spear and Incants too and delete basically everything.

The dark moon great sword is stand alone the best weapon. No talisman with the base required stats it will out perform ever weapon in them game. Keep on mind the dark moon great sword has higher pois while power stanced than all other great sword making it better in pvp. Sure they dps is nice on Maria's but it's very specific to build and isn't good against enemies resistant to slash type damage.

Of we're taking one individual hit with no charge up the darkmoon will out perform it. Keep in mind I am also factoring this against colossal weapons. The Marías greatsword is very specific to the AOW and only fully charged which is very situational and terrible for pvp.

it is and isnt, its a backronym. started with "metagaming" being incorrectly used to describe "minmaxing" and then shortened to "meta" which then got backronymed to most efficient tactic available, which fits metagaming is basically using outside knowledge to have an advantage in a game, things you wouldnt normally know your first time through, like a boss being particularly weak to a specific dmg type. minmaxing is obvious, but you can see how they overlap and how it happened

bloodhound greatsword used it myself and never lost a invasion with it. Dindt even know it was that strong when i first picked it up i just wanted to try a different kind of weapon for a playthrough and then i did the weapon moveset on players and it cut them away. So mutch toxicity came away from it to so like any senseable person would do i pared it with the Omen Cleaver :D

Umbasa. While technically not a "weapon" double staff of losses max with night comet, terra magica, golden vow, magic tear etc is easily the most powerful chargeable spammable invisible attack in the game making it more powerful than all of these. Umbasa.

that Bloodhound Fang has been very good to me ever since i unlocked it... its been the only weapon i've used so far, and i've unlocked quite a few other great weapons i have yet to try... currently my Fang is at +9, and i have Dexterity at 49, Strength at 47, and Vigor at 55... i think i'll be good with the Fang until the end of game... i just need to figure out how to add buffs to it...

Darriwil is not easy early. He is fast and stays on your butt. Hitbpretty hard. Pro tip. Go to Mistwood ruins. Hear some howling. Go back to the Chruch of Elleh, talk to the Merchant. There will be a dialogue option about the Mistwood howling. He will teach you an emote and tell you about Blaiid. Doing this will give you Bloodhounds fang as early as level 15. It will allow you to call a summon which is otherwise unavailable. Blaaid the Half Wolf. He will decimate Darriwil. The fight will be 500% easier. You only need to help a little and survive a blow or 2. For all those out there who aren't Gud. Elden ring is possibly in the top 10 greatest games ever made conversation. Use the internet. Use summons. F the haters. Don't quit. The Atomosphere, Art, and fun to be had is off the charts. Over time you will get good. Although rune farming may become necessary eventually. But that can be a blast to. From Softs follow up to Elden Ring is gonna have to straight rock out. They set the bar unbelievably high.

L2 Teaches players to "get not good" If you wanna get good. stick to rolling to dodge attacks, learning the patterns and attacking when you see an opening. L2 and ranged attacks is like using summons.

Blasphemous will never be dethroned. It’s been the best weapon in the entire game to me since literally day 1 launch. It’s beyond god tier.

I once made a build using sword of night and flame. It was good an all, but its FP cost felt pretty high. Turned me off to it.

I need more smithing stones to upgrade the Ordovis greatsword. The Silurias tree crucible weapon is insanely good though. One of my favorite “holy” weapons. It does tons of physical damage and scales pretty well with strength

My favorite right now is a keen +25 godskin peeler with ice spear. With 60 dex, that shit MELTS bosses, and it doesnt even have bleed on it. Just raw damage and A scaling in Dex. That and the powerstanced Raduvia daggers. I love daggers in this game. The move set is so quick and the bleed is always nice.

I still don't get how Blasphemous is always getting top 1 spots when it's inferior to Darkmoon and Mohg's Spear in most cases.

Ease of use + it’s base damage is way better than DmGS its just that u can buff dmgs with more things+the health you get back is insane+ it knocks over enemies like malenia allowing you to spam the skill until shes burnt to a crisp , first play through i was level 120 ig and did 3400 damage to radagon while not even having 60 faith and not the best set up ( later did 6400 damage to a crow in mohgwyns mausoleum)

The most fun I've had in this game was dual wielding Darkmoon GS, using all the magic dmg buffs, and just putting a Terra Magicka down in the bosses face and jump attacking. 4k+ damage per jump attack sometimes getting up to 6k per attack. You build a mage but play like a strength build. Best of both worlds

Mohgs spear has been my main or backup since i got it 2 years ago, paired with a bleed longheft axe theres not much i have issues with.
