Bloodhound's Fang was some kind of an oversight on the balance team. With 80 STR/DEX it does more damage than even the Greatsword (or any pure physical colossal sword for that matter), and almost all physical colossal weapons, while attacking 2 or 3 times faster, being buffable, having bleed, having higher jump attack modifiers and having one of the best melee based Ash of War. And it's great early game with only investing abit in dex, and you can get it 5 minutes into the game. I don't thing is an exaggeration to say that it is the best pure melee (no projectiles, no spells) weapon in the game, or even in Souls history.

Holy is only highly effectve against enemies who live within death. Holy being superior to shadow makes no sense, and since the Tree in the new DLC is literally strangling the Erdtree, I'd say shadow > holy.

I got the Platinum because I made a build around using the Blasphemous Blade. I just wanted to have a build that would do well against Malenia, and I heard she is weak to fire, and that Blasphemous Blade helped a lot of people in her fight. I wasn't aware that I made a build that completely trivialized the fight. I didn't even go with the most OP setup either. I think I got to Malenia around level 140, with about 50 Faith. I only buffed with Golden Vow, Flame Grant Me Strength and the Fire-Cracked Tear. My jaw dropped when the first hit from Taker's Flames registered around 2,800 damage. Imagine how much that would've been if I used the Fire-Scorpion Charm, or had actually gone to Farum Azula to kill Alexander to get his shard. Just spamming Taker's Flames meant Malenia spent most of the fight on the ground, and struggled to get anywhere close to me when she actually could stand on two feet.

😂 there is plenty if ways to cheese her. You could also just use a guts or zweihander with stomp upward swing or giant hunt. You'll stun lock her in her knocked down animation. Lot off diffeent ways to beat her easy.

Holy damage might be in last place but I feel how bad it is is sometimes over exaggerated, enough runners of the game have proven you’re still getting fine damage with the right build, plus judging a weapon’s effectiveness on how it performs on like the last 3-4 bosses of the game isn’t exactly fair

I ran a Blasphemous Blade build, and it was only with that build have I actually completed an All Remembrances run. I did switch to using the Envoy's Long Horn in the fights against Mohg and Placidusax. The former because he is 80% resistant to fire, and the latter because he is a large target that will get hit by every bubble from the Long Horn's unique skill. There are still situations in the game where Holy damage is a good option.

Last 3-4 bosses isnt true, every remembrance boss besides regal ancestor spirit has resistance to holy damage. And saying you can still do fine damage with the right build isnt saying much considering you can say that about pretty much any weapon in the game. It's not that it's all that hard to beat the game using a holy weapon, it's just comparatively there are almost always better options due to the damage type that will just output more damage. Envoys long horn, silurias tree, ordovis', and black knife are really the only holy damage weapons that come close to being/are top tier weapons.

that Bloodhound Fang has been very good to me ever since i unlocked it... its been the only weapon i've used so far, and i've unlocked quite a few other great weapons i have yet to try... currently my Fang is at +9, and i have Dexterity at 49, Strength at 47, and Vigor at 55... i think i'll be good with the Fang until the end of game... i just need to figure out how to add buffs to it...

Umbasa. While technically not a "weapon" double staff of losses max with night comet, terra magica, golden vow, magic tear etc is easily the most powerful chargeable spammable invisible attack in the game making it more powerful than all of these. Umbasa.

Darriwil is not easy early. He is fast and stays on your butt. Hitbpretty hard. Pro tip. Go to Mistwood ruins. Hear some howling. Go back to the Chruch of Elleh, talk to the Merchant. There will be a dialogue option about the Mistwood howling. He will teach you an emote and tell you about Blaiid. Doing this will give you Bloodhounds fang as early as level 15. It will allow you to call a summon which is otherwise unavailable. Blaaid the Half Wolf. He will decimate Darriwil. The fight will be 500% easier. You only need to help a little and survive a blow or 2. For all those out there who aren't Gud. Elden ring is possibly in the top 10 greatest games ever made conversation. Use the internet. Use summons. F the haters. Don't quit. The Atomosphere, Art, and fun to be had is off the charts. Over time you will get good. Although rune farming may become necessary eventually. But that can be a blast to. From Softs follow up to Elden Ring is gonna have to straight rock out. They set the bar unbelievably high.

Being lazy, old and slow, I wanted an easy mode brainless first run of Elden Ring to just enjoy the world stress-free and faceroll every challenge. 100 poise, vigor+faith blasphemous blade build gave me just that, i had the freedom of exploring, experimenting with all sort of incantations, occasionally summon mimic tear when in a pickle and breezed through the game.

Powerstancing Blasphemous Blade with Gargoyle's Blackblade, with +15% jump damage talisman and +10% jump damage armor, with Golden Vow aura and Flame Grant me Strength, attacking with both weapons while jumping deals enormous amounts of damage and stance damage... You don't even need the Blasphemous Blade Ash of War, except when you'd like to AoE a pack of trash mobs.

One knock people could say against the DMGS you didn't mention is obtainability. It's a SUPER pain in the ass to get because you have to do Ranni's Quest which you HAVE to kill 3 to 4 bosses, 2 of them being Legend bosses. At that point just go to Atlus and do Volcano Manor normally to get Blasphemous Blade B.B you can get from Rykard being the second boss right at the start of the game, arguably first if you know how to skip Godskin Noble

The most fun I've had in this game was dual wielding Darkmoon GS, using all the magic dmg buffs, and just putting a Terra Magicka down in the bosses face and jump attacking. 4k+ damage per jump attack sometimes getting up to 6k per attack. You build a mage but play like a strength build. Best of both worlds

Guys, it took me almost 700 hours to realize how stupidly OP the Banished Knight's Greatsword +25 is when you put Seppuku, of all things, on it, with a blood affinity. It proc's bleed on almost anything within 2 or maybe 3 hits. With Seppuku active you'll set hemmhorage on basically anything that's susceptible with only 1 or 2 hits. It's actually ludicrous. You HAVE to try this. Pair with Lord of Blood's Exultation and you'll shred everything. I just beat Melania (adventure 4) on my first try, and it-for sure-wasn't a skill based win lmao. I've been in the Leyndell sewers absolutely bullying the Omen enemies down there. Every jump attack staggers them, chain three jump attacks in a row and they'll be set up for the crit, which kills them. It's a stunlock lmao. Hemmhorage procs on 100% of these fights without even using seppuku. I actually used to dread these guys when I was a katana boi. I don't bother with pvp so ymmv there.

After a first NG using shit weapons, and for the final part of the gsme the blasphemous blade, I'm playing the Ng+ while changing constantly weapon (almost pure faith build). Golden Order greatsword, ordovis greatsword, Silurian tree, Great stars, dual magma blade, envoy's longhorn, all these weapons are really really strong and fun to use. I have to agree that fire damage is probably the best type damage in the game, but holy damage weapons are maybe the most cool ones, and only 3/4 bosses have an 80% holy resist so who cares

It's extreemly Op in invasion. Power stance it with regal sceptor and use Adula's moon blade. You're going to easily roll catch people and if they try to trade with you the dark moon great sword will pois through everything and win the r1 trade vs a rolling attack. Also use magma sling to reset frost build up our fire pots 👍

@@Nonlifting_breezy 69 int 35 dex 20 str 30 end 55 vit 26 mind and 7 arc Started a a vagabond to minimize my non essential stats. Keep in mind I can't remember if this is what I had it at 150 but beat my first run at 144 with roughly these stats. Think my first character was 186 or so when I started ng+ but made a second chracter and haven't beat ng+ yet. I also used Godrick great rune during my PVE run so I might have a couple numbers off. But I was consistently hitting 1400 with just the moon beam and around 2400 in melee. Note I am not optimized for the dark moon great sword. Talisman I use are the FP, stamina, and HP all +2 and Erdtree favor +2.

@@Nonlifting_breezy if you want to be optimized for pvp with it I recomend going for min maxing the build around the soft caps on dex and strength with maxing out int. You'll only needed minimum strength so up it last for scaling the physical damage as the dark moon great sword scales D with both dex and str. Also because it's got such high pois in power stancing you can use it very agressivly in heavy armor, it throws people off when you are willing to trade due to high pois.

The list is too biased towards unique weapons. Frankly the best weapons in the game infact are those which are either farmed or found. Can be infused or have ashes of war applied. Have their affinities changed and are versatile at every level or optimisable based on your stats. Two examples are the colossal category Zweihander(sword class) and Duelist greataxe(weapon class). Zwei shines till mid-late game and duelist greataxe after enoigh farm and endurance can be powerstanced for late game. The zwei with it's unique thrusting charged heavy can be the highest damage weapon that is melee at range. It can be pulled off without requiring insane skill or timing due to some hyperarmor inherent in all colossals. IT scales incredibly well with dexterity whihc means you can keep it in quality affinity in early game or even fire for the extra damage while still pumping dex. Later you can pick up a ranged option like golem greatbow, bolt of gransax or midway item that has better attack speed like warped axe. IT can be the mainstay due to it's incredible poise damage due to it being a colossal. The duelist greataxe is when you need more damage and the zwei is getting outclassed due to it losing base damage on being infused (with lightning or fire depending on your route) or it being somewhat less bonk than other weapons that are similar like greatsword or even greathammers like great stars which heal on hit and bleed as well. The best thing about duelist greataxe is that you can keep str at 20 , dual wield it pump dex to 80 and make it lightning affinity. In this stat it is the highest weapon game in the entire game. At 30 str ironically the inferno crozier overtakes it and later ofc the big bonk giant crusher in their various infusions. So you are best advised to save those 10 weapon levels and pump dex or endurance(although past 80 dex has very minimal improvement for dmg). Endurance becomes primary stat after reaching 80 dex. It is the best weapon for dex as it is high damage, good poise damage, infusable with lightning affinity and with ash like lightning slash can receive anything from 80-150 more ar added for 60 seconds for 10 fp. No other colossal synergises so well with ranged weapons like gransax whih have similar requiremnt s 20 sr and 40 dex. So you have a ranged nuke and a colossal weapon class weapon capable of being buffed to over 1300 ar with lightning cracked tear, scorpion charms, ritual sword talismans. At higher endurance levels over level 150 you can even dual wield and apply lightning slash on the offhand and swithc back, apply lightning slash on main hand , pop the physick to boost lightning damage, and get over 1200 ar in every hand. The weapon has incredible powerstance moveset and performs extremely well with claw talisman, poise breaking mid enemies with 2 jump attacks when powerstanced. Range is seriously not an issue as it is a colossal and even though lowest in it's class is still longer than all greataxes matches many greatswords. I'm enjoying this setup dual lightning duelist greataxes at level 25 both after farming yelough anix ruins i have reached level 175 without even doing malenia or farum azula. Zwei is also +25 but i only use it to escape with bloodhound step the rot pools in elphael(it's keen zwei now). And i use stormhawk axes +9 for aoe for critters like the kindred of rot enemies. Bolt is +10 and ofc it stays on the ready. So yea look beyond unique weapons, many lesser known ones like duelist greataxe can be highest damage with the right stats and you will not need to use even one incantation or sorcery.
