I grew up in Florida on the water and was quite used to seeing large gators, but Sam was bigger than the car we drove there to see him in, easily dwarfing the men who dared to climb in and feed him. We would usually leave there and go ride in the glass bottom boats at the crystal springs not far away, or check out some of the safari parks in the area.. You missed a very famous one, well-documented too. Larger than all of these. “In the Philippines in 1831, a giant saltwater crocodile, considered to be one of the most dangerous reptile species, ate one shepherd (and one horse) too many. The animal, known appropriately as Mugger, measured somewhere between 27 and 30 feet, was 11 feet around, measured just behind its front legs, and had a head that was 5-feet-6-inches from the nose to the first vertebra. It was a formidable opponent. A French plantation owner had seen it attack a horse and rider crossing the river where it lived. They escaped when the croc’s jaws closed on the saddle and tore it off the horse’s back. The rider, a shepherd, drew his cutlass and waited in shallow water for the animal, despite advice to the contrary. After absorbing the man’s blows with the sword, Mugger grabbed him by the leg and dragged him to his death. Two months later, the crocodile struck again, eating a horse, which was the final straw. The plantation owner, a visiting American and several local people decided enough was enough. Using lances, nets, ropes, and guns they attacked. But the crocodile held them off for six hours before it was finally killed. It reportedly took 40 men to haul it ashore. The plantation owner presented the American visitor, George Russell, with Mugger’s skull. Russell gave it to the Boston Museum of Natural History, which gave it to Harvard. The Museum of Natural History is located at 26 Oxford Place. Call (617) 495-3045.”

They're called 'saltwater crocodiles', not 'sea crocodiles', but will happily live in the freshwater and estaurine rivers here in Australia. The croc farm near Rockhampton in central Queensland is on a tidal river well inland from the ocean, as are many of the 'croc-infested' rivers here in the Northern Territory. Anything that can drag a buffalo into the water, drown and eat it isnt the kind of animal I want to mess with, but that doesn't deter fishermen and aboriginal people.

Biggest croc I saw was close by the banks of the innisifail creek in 2017. This croc was definitely bigger then our 4 metre tinny. As it moved back into the water we immediatelyeft as it could have easily knocked everyone overboard.

I watched the hole Lolong story, it was said that a croc was terrorizing the locals and eye witnesses said its huge. Later hunters gathered to capture it. Once it was captured the eye witnesses said that Lolong wasnt the croc they saw, that it was bigger. but like the video said there were no human remains in it. God knows if there is even a bigger croc out there lol

Apparently he was super stressed because they kept draining his pool little by little so that people could see him. Crocodiles need enough water to float so their organs don’t get crushed by their own enormous weight. So rather than just wait for him to come out and bathe in the sun they chose to make him uncomfortable so the public could always see him since he was such a draw.
@algini126 жыл бұрын
Gustave is still the deadliest, having killed hundreds of people and is too smart to be trapped. He stays away till the heats off, then kills and escapes again. They say he is 19 feet, and though this says he's 60 years old, I have heard that by the condition of his teeth, that he is actually younger. He would break all the records, since crocs never stop growing. The problem here for him is, that once he gets another 5 to 7 feet in size, being submerged and quiet, isnt going to cut it for him anymore. He'll be too big not to be noticed and they will finally waste him. Too bad for science, and very good for the people who must use that water source. He MUST be destroyed. He's a monster in every sense of the word, and too many people have died..
