Best starter weapon has to be the Plasma Cutter from Dead Space (1 or 2). It's so good you don't need any other weapons to complete the game, and that's all you want/need from the weapon you start with in a survival horror game.

Mercs on Sega has gotta be in the running for best starter weapon. It features an upgrade system and while the weapon sucks at level 1 in comparison to any other weapon you can pick up, if you upgrade it it powers up way faster and grows way more powerful than the others

For best starter weapons in general, my mind goes to Bloodborne. Your Hunter has the choice between the Hunter's Axe, Saw Cleaver, and Threaded Cane. While the Saw Cleaver is iconic, and I have a personal soft spot for the Threaded Cane, the reach and swing of the Hunter's Axe makes it ideal for players new to Fromsoft's particular flavor of gameplay. I'm sure other hunters swear by their Saw Cleavers, and you're not wrong if you rate it higher than the Axe - as I said, the Cane's my weapon of choice, for style if nothing else. However, if I were talking to someone thinking about playing Bloodborne for the first time who had never touched a Dark Souls game and knew nothing of the Lands Between, I'd tell them to pick the Hunter's Axe and watch their step as they entered Yharnam. A Hunter, after all, must hunt.

I am surprised that the Stanton System from Star Citizen didn't make the cut. There are 4 planets (2 of which are fully explorable), 12 moons (all of which are fully explorable) and 24 space stations. Hurston alone has a surface area of at least 1.76×10^7 Km^2 (square Kilometers) in game, and in lore that is suppose to be closer to 1.77×10^9 Km^2 (That is twice the size of the earth). The 12 moons have in game surface areas averaging 1.04×10^6 Km^2 and none of that is counting travel between spatial bodies. You can actually travel at sub light speeds from the surface of one planet to another. The Stanton system (The first implemented system) is 4,761,848 Km across. Though I suppose it may have been left out because it is still technically in an Alpha state.

Best starting weapon - Leon's handgun Re4 (2005) made by Robert Kendo with a maximum power of 6.5 there's no greater way to start a game than popping off heads with this bad boy like you're popping an egg in a pan

I have to make a vanity suggestion for best starting weapon: the pistol in "SiN Episodes: Emergence." First shot on each trigger is 100% accurate and fires depleted uranium shells as an alt fire so it acts like a railgun.

Lyns Mani Kata (may have spelled it wrong) from fire emblem for gba. You get it in the introduction tutorial section and it is a legendary weapon with a boosted crit rate, which makes lyn a power house

The feel of that axe, especially when it returns, good lord 😊 Plus, you use those weapons all the way through. You don't need much else. 3. Wrestling Games: Anything you can grab. Or, you, as wrestlers are weapons. 4. Fighting games: Your character and their attributes. 5. Any Harry Potter game: Your wand, it grants you all your spells. 6. Half life: Gravity gun. 7. Resident Evil 4: Your knife. You can defeat Krauser with it, with legit just the knife, in the original game. With just a knife? 8. Ratchet and Clank: Clank and your spanner/ratchet. These are two things you use throughout the game, even for puzzles and one you befriend. 9. Broforce: Any of the characters you start out with. 10. Final Fantasy 7: Clouds Buster Sword. 11. Batman Arkham Series: Batarang. You use it for everything, grappling hook too. And of course, Batman himself. Anyone can get those hands. 12. Goat Simulator: The Goat. He's a Goat for a reason. 13. Star Wars games/Force Unleashed: The lightsaber. Nothing cooler than a sword that can slice anything in half. 14. Soul Calibur 3: Siegfrieds giant sword and Nightmares soul edge. Maxi's nunchucks. Kieliks sword. 15. Crash Bandicoot: Aku Aku mask. It let's you control titans and skate in Crash of the titans. 16. Spiderman: Webshooters. It provides transportation and in Web of shadows allows you to surf. 17. Infamous Series, Asura from Asuras wrath, Hulk in Ultimate Destruction, Spyros fire/self and Prototype: Your character/The main character. Literally living weapons. 18. Bloodborne: Shotgun and the sword you start out with. 19. Dante from Devil May Cry 3: Twin guns ebony and ivory, sword from the start of the game. You keep both throughout the entire game. Plus Dante himself. 20. Shadow of the colossus: Your sword. It even solves puzzles and helps to identify weaknesses. You stay with this one sword. 21. Bayonetta twin guns, you keep these throughout. 22. Tony hawks underground 1& 2: You skate, gain a career and whack people with it.
