please keep in mind that some people have anxiety and its extremely hard to talk to people out of fear of being judged or coming off weird. we may come off as a boring or a shy person but its probably because were not comfortable with you or feel intimidated. its really hard for me to make a conversation, and that's something im really insecure about.

My lack of ability to have a good conversation is really what repels people from me. I have horrible social anxiety, so every time someone tries to talk to me, I freak out and end up giving stupid and/or completely uninteresting responses and never ask anything about them (even though I reallllly want to). And nobody ever really gives me a chance to get over my anxiety with them, therefore I end up having no friends. Ugh I need help.

bulldog521521 It's kind of ironic that your profile picture is Mr. Noisy :P But yeah I'm exactly like this too. I want to talk to people but I feel like I don't have anything that interesting to say. And when I do talk I feel like they don't understand what I'm saying because I make no sense when I talk. Like I'm so awkward. I'm the queen of awkward silences, haha. Plus, my voice is pretty quiet so a lot of times I have to basically shout at people if I want to be heard, even in completely quiet settings. It's just, when someone's talking to me, it's like my entire brain turns off and I only know how to say simple phrases like "yeah" and "okay". Like I don't even remember my opinions anymore haha (although I'm very opinionated). I DO want open up though. What do we dooo?? :/

Samantha Gaviria i used to be (or still kind of am) the same, but try to work on it :) i'm very shy, but lately i've been trying to talk more :) i spoke to strangers and just told them to have a nice day or that i like their clothes or something nice, at first it will be very scary but after a while it will become fun because you'll make other people smile (and no one is going to hate you for being nice ;) ) and maybe make a bucket list :) you can find a lot of ideas online if you have no inspiration :) try to make everything as good as possible and believe in yourself :)

Saying that you have to let people live their lives and then judging people because they're "simple" and don't have enough ambition is a bit hypocrite, I think. I know I obviously shouldn't look into this so much, but I'm critical and I don't like it when people who earn lots of money and can do soooo much stuff you normally wouldn't be able to do because you're in the entertainment industry, tell other people that they should be more complex. You can't expect everyone to be like all of the people you meet in your life. Because those people are the ones living in LA, living the dream, writing books about themselves because their life is apparantly that interesting, making movies. Not everyone has those possibilities. So living a simple life isn't a bad thing. This is just coming from someone living in a very small insignificant country.

Josie B I don't think he means complex in what you do but in who you are. I personally like people who have mystery about them and aren't easily figured out, basically when I get to know someone I want there to be more to them than what you got when you first met them. I like a person who has depth to their character, someone you can get personal with and share opinions, who will give you advice and insight, inspire you and help you grow and be a better person. You don't have to live an extraordinary life to achieve this!

Yeh I agree with most of these but the whole "be more complex and ambitious" thing isn't as easy as it seems- especially for young adults who most likely don't know what they want out of life but are trying to figure it out. The first one I didn't really agree with to an extent either- if someone is a bad communicator then don't count them out, especially if they are new to you and/or shy. Some people have social anxiety or just incredibly shy so its not like they are doing it on purpose, if you try talk to someone and they intentionally ignore you or give you a half-assed response THEN thats just being rude and should be categorised as such, not "bad communicators" :/

To all of you in the comments saying Connor hates you because you're shy, I promise that's not what he meant at all. He meant people who aren't communicators, aka people who are arrogant, rude, on their phones constantly, or just bad at communicating because they don't make an effort to try. I am very shy, and I know that definitely wasn't the point he was trying to get across. Connor loves you, he loves all of us. I agree he said it in a context that could have been taken very wrongly, but he didn't mean that e hates any of his fans who are shy or introverted or non ambitious. If you want to meet Connor, that's an ambition. If you want to go somewhere in life, that's ambition. I promise none of you are non ambitious like you say you are. So be happy about this video, not upset. It's connor, he's the sweetest guy and if he knew how much he offended you by saying things in the wrong way he would give you a huge hug and apologize. I suffer from anxiety too and it can be very hard to be social.. Start with really close friends and family try having a normal conversation about yours or their day with someone, if they just answer "good" then ask them questions like what they did and branch off that. Then you will eventually develop skills and confidence to interact with others... it's funny because my best friend suffers from anxiety too and when we met we would say hi and sit together but that was it then after 4 months we found out we both suffer from anxiety so neither of us had the confidence to start a real conversation and keep it going. Some advice i got from someone I consider family and has stuck with me is to take a deep breath and don't let anxiety control you, you need to control it and you can, you're in charge of it. :)

About the conversation thing- it is something i'm looking for too, and I want to be good at it myself but it is so hard for me. I get stressed out when it's someone I don't really know and I run out of topics to talk about. Sometimes I even like forget words or things that I do want to say. Basically you said that it's a "turn off" and it is, even for me, but I am one like this and i'm trying to change that, but it is extremely hard for me.

I see what you're getting at but he's saying things that he personally doesn't find appealing about a person. Being judgmental implies thinking that a certain type of person is worse than another - he never said that. In the beginning of the video he says "Things that I've decided that I don't like if a person is like this - don't particularly enjoy it. [....] By now means am I a perfect person. I definitely am one to do some of these things sometimes. [...] Not really about it, just saying." So I definitely understand what you meant by your comment, but I think you just got it wrong! He was harmlessly expressing his opinion, not saying that these type of people are somehow worse than others :)

I am definetly 1, 2, and 7. Sorrrrrryyyy. 1- I'm a bad a communicator. Very bad. While I often try very, very hard to communicate well, I just find it very hard to. I just can't communicate. But, I do make in effort to communicate. I will always like talk, its not like I will ignore anyone but I am just nottt the greatest communicator. 2- while I am extremely passionate, I am not ambitious. I care about many things, but for whatever reason, not really myself or my future. I try not to think about the future because quite frankly, it scares me. I am quite optimistic about many things but ambitions aren't one of them for whatever reason. 7- I'm externally simple and bland, internally complex but inside and out Im not really a fun person. It depends. But, usually I enjoy very simple things to do and have quite simple interests, except for like music and books and shows (I will talk about those for hours) This goes hand in hand with one, without communication I won't exactly like expressing complex things. I am extremely complex but in a way I cannot get anyone to understand, ha ha. I'm on and off between simple and complex, but compared to others I'm boring. Oh well. This was therapeutic.

Oh my god I'm a horrible conversationalist, but it's not my fault. I always want to talk to people about any of everything, but I just have really bad social anxiety and it keeps me from saying so much, doing so much, and being myself. Growing up it always made me feel bad that people wouldn't like me because I don't talk much. I realize it's a bit boring and it makes being friends with me hard, but it's just the way I am. Even though I try to change it and improve, I'm probably always the one who listens more than speaks about personal matters, because that's the way I am. I don't tell people who talk a lot to shut up, because I understand that's the way they are. So yeah, it made me feel a bit bad I guess; not because it is you, but because I know you're not the only one who thinks like that Anyway I supose the intention of the video was good, you're just expressing yourself and that's alright, but extroverted people need (not all of them) to stop putting so much pressure on introverts and quiet people because they don't speak as much; it only makes them end up feeling bad and like they are not useful. I've heard people saying "she's too quiet" or "how boring is he" and it does not feel good. You said not to judge people but yet you really make a distintion on this topic. And I it is okay because this is YOUR video and all, and I really am a follower of you, I'm just trying to make you (or people who are reading this because I doubt you do) understand that it is not easy for everybody to have ambitions and to talk all the time, neither to stay positive. I know it's better for personal growth and all, but you can't expect everyone to be talkative, at least at first... This is just my opinion though. Sorry if I ofended anybody. Edit: And I can assure you that if an introvert is friends with you and is really willing to share their life with you and make boundaries, they will try to open up and talk more about their stuff, even though it's hard. At the beggining it may seem impossible, and some people are introverts because they have been through a bad experience not because they are like day since they were born, but with time and dedication (from both sides) they will open up.

I'm not a really quiet person and I can't fully understand and feel you but I understand where you are coming from. But I think having a quiet friend is actually very nice because my close group of friends consist of people who are outgoing and people who are very quiet. It is very easy to talk to my quiet friend knowing that she won't judge or respond because at times I just need someone to listen to me, even if she doesn't understand me, it's just nice that she is there for me.

1. *No sense of humour.* Pretty self-explanatory. 2. *When they think they're smarter than you.* This chick I know will not bother with anyone who gets lower marks then her, and gets competitive/jealous of those who are. No one likes her lol. 3. *People who get offended easily.* So pretty much the internet. But seriously, I can't stand people who overanalyse everything and get offended by anything. If I have to watch my wording to avoid using a word or expression that will offend you, you need to fix your self-esteem issues, because your ego is weak and you will be slaughtered in the real world. 4. *People who act nice to you even thought they don't like you.* (I mean dislike as a person, not 'like' as in a crush). If I don't like someone, I don't bother. If I know someone doesn't like me, it makes me cringe when they try to make conversation with me when no one else is there for them to talk to. I'd rather stand alone with this person and do my own thing, than engage in petty talk with someone who doesn't like me/I don't like.

***** What might work is asking them questions about what they have just said, which is strategicly designed to ultimately lead them to realize that their previous statement was incorrect. It would require you to really know the subject, but it might work. I really do not know if there is a best way to do it. I am a bit of a know-it-all at times myself, but this is what I try to do.

Connor- thank you for making this video. It made me realize what I don't like, and it made me realize that one of my "friends" was not a friend. She called me names, and made fun of me, and I always took it as a joke. But when she almost makes you cry at recess... Stuff isn't going too well. I just act like I don't know her, but I do it without being rude. In class, when I'm forced to talk to her, I just talk to her like a classmate. That passion/ambition thing really made me feel bad about myself. Finding what you truly love in life doesn't just come so easy for everyone, especially if you don't have much exposure to all life has to offer and basically if you don't have all that motivation that someone like Connor has. Considering skills, resources and limited experiences, having a passion and going after that passion is easier said than done for most. And life isn't as easy as just up and deciding to move to LA or somewhere else at the ripe age of 18 for a lot of people I mean I wish but in the real world that only really works out for like a small fraction of people

Ok I usually try to avoid leaving negative comments, but I Gotta be honest Connor, I feel like some of these are really judgmental. E.g bad communicators? Really? Some people are shy, some people have social anxiety, maybe they stutter, maybe they have an intellectual disability that prevents them from being able to communicate the same way others do. And all of that is ok. Also, 'simple' people? Idek what u mean by that but not everyone can be the life of the party all the time, once again it's ok to be shy and quiet, it doesn't make them boring or simple.
