HONORABLE MENTIONS
Two bosses just missed the cut for me. The first was Maki, Kina, and Yin from the end of the game. It's a pretty cool and fairly difficult post-game fight, that has a cool Easter-egg depending on the order you take them down in. The Mecha-Bee also just barely missed out as well. A decent challenge and an awesome theme, this was a great boss to end Chapter 3 with!

The False Monarch I feel is underrated. When you go into the little city hidden somewhere in the Forsaken Lands, you see these weird people who are actually a bunch of mothflies, who speak in really spooky text that you can't read that tells you something's off there, and when you explore deeper into it, you see a door leading to a crowned guy who looks a bit like Fawful from Mario and Luigi, and then when he talks to you, same weird text, and then he spooks you a bit by showing he's a bunch of mothflies and fights you. Of course, he's not really the most challenging boss, but I like the spookiness of it all. And in a later mission in post game, if you beat him, his friends who left their clothes behind after you beat him come looking for revenge.

False Monarch is probably one of the easiest Bounty bosses but also the most fun. It feels like something out of a Mario & Luigi game, and even though he does a lot of damage sometimes if you have a lot of health he’s pretty fun to fight. None of his dodge timings are confusing, he doesn’t have any Defense, so it feels more like a fair fight compared to things like Peacock Spider and Devourer, who summon in enemies and heal themselves.

I only got the game now and I have to say that the False Monarch is a good bounty boss but has the unfortunate status of being one of the easiest (I can only say it is a bit harder than the Seedling King due to how much HP he, or better, they have). By the way, a lot of people fight the boss thinking it is a story boss than realising it's not (it happened to me too 😅)

I got to admit, I LOVE the false monarch, with his crazy spy card build, amazing boss fight where he sacrifices hp to summon enemies, and the buildup with the mothfly “people” in the deserted camp, plus the fact that the camp really becomes deserted when you beat their leader combines to be an amazing boss fight.

Great video! Really interesting picks all around and I can definitely agree with your reasonings for a ton of them. Personally, I would rank The Beast a little higher just because I love how much cinematic build up there is to it. As well as being a pretty hard boss fight all around, at least for me! By the time I reached the end of the swamp, I was super low on resources. I had to try soooo many times beating it, and when Kabbu's final stand happened, I was estatic. Surprised you didn't mention Team Makki as well! I felt like they were an extremely awesome reward / superboss given how the game gasses up Maki the entire game, and they definitely do have the stats to back it up. I do suppose by the time you reach them, you're fully decked out, so your medal set up is probably enough to beat literally anything, but it still felt super satisfying beating them for the first time. Anyway, wonderful list! Always love to see Bug Fables content!

Thanks! And I probably should my honorable mentions in the video rather than the description, but Maki for me was just outside the top 10 mainly because like you said I was pretty stacked at that point.

I agree with the top pick, but my second favorite boss is astotheles. he provides a unique challenge and really tests your block timing in hard mode.

I probably would have thrown the Zommoth on there, regardless, great video and keep up the good work! Also fun fact about the Kabbu and Kali fight, if you check Kabbu's beastiary entry on himself he just says "...I can't believe I did that..." XD

the devourer was the only bounty boss i discovered on accident (i didnt even know the bounties were a proper thing yet). i was only in chapter three and it kicked my ass big time, but i came back a chapter later and beat it. it and the tidal wyrm were the only bounties that actually killed me (though that'll change once i do my hard mode run)

after doing my hard mode run, i can officially say devourer is definitely the hardest. tidal wyrm was probably the easiest bounty, though out of all optional bosses the mother chomper takes title of easiest, and team slacker the hardest. i actually didn't do any of the optional team fights on easy mode, so it was an extra surprise seeing just what they could do.

Astotheles earns my number 1 spot because firstly, he’s a very well written character and I do like him quite a lot. But mainly because how something as simple as not letting you use items changes the gameplay so drastically. Like even if you freeze him and try to heal with a dry leaf, he will personally unthaw himself because VENUS FORBID YOU USE AN ITEM IN THIS FIGHT

I agree 100% Astotheles is my number one with the same reasons you've said and I like how skilled he is with only the use of one hand and all the planning he had for Snakemouth He set everything up for your failure from the very beginning, Also loved the challenge he gave with the two turn attacks

Kali and Kabu are probably one of the easiest bosses in the whole game where even I use Hard Mode everytime. You could cheese this fight extremely by using Frigid Coffin on Kabu to take him out for two turns and you only need to take down Kali herself to win the fight.

My fav was prob. Mecha Bee or tbh TEK. However, Monsieur Scarlet was the best Mini/Side boss for me. So I like this list. An addition: please look up the pronounciation of monsieur, it hurt my feelings. 😆🙊

I have a funny thing about Zasp and Mothiva: As soon as the fight began I said "let me guess, if I kill Zasp, Mothiva is going to revive him" and when it happened I still said "Mothiva, you b*tch" (Btw, I love this duo)

Me fighting the spider on hard mode took me about an hour since I started on hard mode on my first playthrough I beat the Scorpion first try on hard mode which I think is the only boss I beat first try. I beat Kabbu and Kalli 2nd try because I was trying to beat up Kabbu. The watcher took me so many tries on hard mode. I had 1 health left with kappa and I had no tp left. Luckily I could kill it with a pebble. I haven't beaten the game yet/ killed the wasp king. I haven't killed the root monster. I haven't killed the devourer either. (I'm on chapter 6 right now.)

While I agree with you on the fact the wasp king is a good fight, I hated the everlasting king. Not because the attacks dealt too much damage, or the fact he had too much hp, I hated it because I would've rather seen the total hp than just having it reset each phase. This is purely because if you drop the everlasting king to hp lower than 10, it doesn't actually count. I didn't know this until it was too late. Also, the game makes no indications that you will be fighting the boss separately twice. My first run I beat the boss and was thrown into the everlasting king without any items. I think what the game has for a final boss is great, it just isn't in my opinion as good as it could be. (This is not a "get gud", I beat the final boss and the rest of the bosses on my first playthrough on hard mode. It's just a gripe I had with the end game.)
