I’m English living in Florida now ,I still try to keep our traditions for Christmas ,a bit difficult for warm and cosy if the weathers hot but we do try ,

Thats sweet, I used to live in Cyprus and we enjoyed as much as we could. The turkey went to the bakers as our ovens couldn't take it and lots of traditional treats were home made.

This was such a lovely reminder of some of the traditions my grand parents and great grandparents used to keep and some of which I have carried on today. It just isn't Christmas without some mince pies and a big turkey roast dinner!

How lovely, Christmas is so wrapped up in childhood memories :) Hope you have a lovely Christmas, we all need one after this dreadful year.

I feel quite mellow now. All these are so entwined in my past, in my years living in New Zealand. How different now. Yes, we send cards, have the (these days) King's speech, slowly gifts entering the dutch Christmas. For some leaving the St Nicholas tradition behind, others choosing both gift moments. I still bake Christmas mince pies. Even baked a cake this year. I thoroughly enjoyed being reminded of all which gave me such joy. Merry Christmas to you and your family. 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

Taking decorations down by Twelfth Night is a late 20th century custom. Traditionally, decoartions were not put up before Christmas Eve and stayed up until Candlemas, February 2nd, the actual last day of Christmas.

That traditional Christmas meal looked meal looked incredible. We have some of the same traditions here, though some are a bit different. We have fruit cake instead of mince, thought I don't know anybody that actually likes fruit cake.

@sandraford42352 жыл бұрын
Ahh,but the fruit cake in Britain is a lot different to U S fruit cake which everyone treats as a joke,Proper fruitcake is full of different dried fruit ,spices brown sugar and brandy then left to “improve “ by pouring a couple of spoonful of brandy each day till it’s time to put the marzipan (almond paste ) and icing on ,

You know more than me :) when you say tea at 6pm do you mean evening meal or cream tea? cream tea is more likely at 3pm. evening meal can be called Tea or Dinner depending on the person. that runs from 5pm-8pm again depending on the family :) Thanks for your visit!

The water runs out of my mouth, sweater wet, pants wet, feet wet too. That was clearly a different Christmas when we usually celebrate here, when we still lived at home together I made a savory cake that actually only needed a cup of Apricot Brandy, but I emptied the whole bottle into it, with only one goal that mother the cake was delicious, usually drunk fell off d'r chair and continued to giggle 😂😂😂
