Funny thing to note is that the top 2 are broken by having FPS and fighting game mechanics, respectively. They break the game by being outside the genre.

Eh, cheesing an enemy with ranged isn't exactly outside the RPG genre, can argue that it's actually part of it. Main thing with prompto is cheesing the aggro range, which is kinda common in MMORPGs at least. And the fighting game part is more of a QTE before it became a mainstream thing with all games.

Rikku are the reason why "No Sphere Grid" challenge is beatable, after Rikku join the party, basically just spam "Trio of 9999 + Wakka's attack reels or Tidus's Blitz Ace" on every storyline bosses and basically you win the game.

Love the Quina respect here. It can be a pain to find Blue Magic and catch 99 frogs, but a cheap, consistent 9999 attack and the versatility they provide with all their other abilities make them the MVP every time I fight against Ozma.

Yeah, once I was playing like Steiner (Shock), Zidane (Grand LEthal), Eiko (Full life, Phoenix) and Freya (Jump, Dragon crest). The game is easy and Ozma may fell at Zidaine lvl40-45. Maybe Quina will not game change Ozma battle but can make whole game a breeze and allow to complete it in under 35 lvl with 0 grind. Just do not save ethers for her, usually you may have 45 and the end.

I have over 1000 hours invested in FF9 from the original PSX version to emulations and remasters. I simply cannot play that game without using Quina, Quina is my favorite character of all time! Nobody else can heal or buff the entire party or do 9999 damage for only 5 MP.

Quina with Frog Drop, Zidane with Thievery, Freya with Dragon's Crest. These can do 9999 damage even at level 1.

@@PunkFiddler Freya is the only one that could do 9999 damage at Level 1 because you can realistically kill 100 Dragons and never level up via Virus status. Thievery uses Zidane's speed stat as a multiplier and Frog Drop uses Quina's level as a multiplier. In order to do 9999 damage at level 1, Zidane would have to successfully steal 870 times ([870*23]/2) and Quina would need to catch 9,999 frogs-completely unrealistic endeavors.

You could steal their weapon and reequip lol. It's what he has over Orlandeau let alone more speed if he has haste. A fun way to troll I did a vid with was using a poison crossbow and giving poison to a 2nd enemy on my last shot. Funny for those weaker enemies.

​@user-uw2zl4kx5v nah he's number 1 with monk setup upon joining (level 6 monk, unlocks geomancer so you can get attack boost right away after barrage let alone have counter or critical recover Hp which helps with his high HP to usually go into critical) and he can steal weapons with better rates than a thief or disable the others. People just like Orlandeau because he does big damage without learning anything, and isn't a hidden character. 4:15 is proof of that as holy sword isn't busted at all. It's Orlandeau's high stats, unless you want me to arcane strength iaido everybody.

Yeah the first time I played Tactics I thought he was a God-send. Every time I play FFT now I debate whether or not I want to add him to my party when he shows up as it just makes the rest of the game too easy

alot of people dont understand that you can equip multiple of the same materia and link them all with different support Materia and the single spell will receive the benefits from all the buffs. Only one you cant stack is magic focus

​@szczepan4737 jump rope is a trophy on Sony consoles, so for the completionists it absolutely is not skippable. Ff10 mini games are cake and have easy exploits to make them super easy. Chocobo racing more based on lucky balloon spawns than anything. Only way to exploit the jump rope is to run a script that does it for you. Nobody bothered making scripts for ff10 stuff cuz again, easy.

While not broken on its own, I do like that Amarant's upgraded MP restoration skill is MP positive to himself. It's fun to use the flashy inefficient spells/summons and have him make up for it by, functionally, being an infinite use MP restoration item.

My team had Zidane, Garnet/Eiko, Amarant, and Quina. Amarant the infinite mp well and auto life with Aura, Quina with damage and buffs and Auto life, Garnet/Eiko for healing and summons, and Zidane for damage.

Number 1: Vincent from Ff7 original. His ultimate weapon gets damage based on how many he killed. He has literally infinite dmg and can kill everything in one hit. Bonus: he can cause an stack overflow to crash the game. Making him literally broken

I actually think back in the OG PS1 version Orlandu is not even the most broken thing about the game, have Ramza yell or scream to 50 speed and he'll be attacking 10 times in a row. And I specified OG because OG Calculator didn't need MP to cast magic, you can just use a full party of Knights with Excalibur and Calculator command spamming Holy. You don't have to move a single step in the entire battle to attack potentially every single enemy at the same time while healing your whole party.

Someone forgot the arithmetician, dual wield blood sword and faster Balthier for Orlandeau, but yes Quina is similar to ff5 chemist or ff6 gau where you gotta research to exploit the game. Setzer kinda counts too, with pixel remaster allowing boost so his fixed dice with rapidfire and a black belt can do a ton (and you can turn off encounters in kefka's tower to get fixed dice first thing world of ruin).

No.1 is definitely Orlandu because everything about him is broken. He is not conditional on anything either. He comes with one of the best gears of the game, so many of the best abilities in the game all in 1 character. He is just too good and doesn't sacrifice anything. He can regain HP majorly by just attacking, can break oppoenent's equipment including the weapons. None of his abilities carries any MP cost, risk or cooldown and have great range. Plus he is a party member that you get by just playing the story. There is no condition to unlock him. Compared to others 1. Zell - he needs to use limit break and low health or else he is the same as other characters. 2.Prompto - has quite low stats and die easily if you get too close to the enemies and don't abuse AI ignoring you from range. He does good damage but so do other members of that game. 3. Rikku - also conditional, she has to have full limit break bar to use those broken moves and cannot do every single turn like Zell or Orlandu. 4. Zidane, Freya, Quina - they need farming certain things to obtain 9999 damage. They are not given for free. Also those abilities cost MP. 5. Selphie - Broken but not spamable. Need to abuse things like opening disk reader for PS1 or else you are racing against time to use this ability while the enemy has free attacks against you. 'The end' is not in all table chart. Some chart do not contain it, you could look for ages and don't find it. 6. Wakka - Post game he is the same as other characters outside the limit break. You get the full picture. Orlandu is most broken. The others are not even comparable.

^ FFT is a highly exploitable game if you know what you're doing but even for a player that doesnt, Orlandu does it for you. Most of the characters on this list require knowledge to make them broken. The Thunder God simple joins your party and immediately lives up to the name.

Side note...for replay missions, you can rack up mad SP with her by giving her support songs, and she just force berserks your random charater into destroying everything, plus the healing song keeps em going till they leave. That and a protect spell -chef kiss- Ace was pretty broken too with the right set up..i loved that game. Sad i feel im the only one -.-

Not quite as good but you can use defend to make her immune to physical damage and auto-reflect for normal spells. That only leaves bosses exclusive magic-based attacks that can't be reflected.

Other broken members that I remember: - Gau: By having stray cat he can easily kill most of the early game enemies, not to mention his Wind God mod. - Edward: With his final weapon and hide ability makes him a beast. - The Warrior of the 1st Final Fantasy: High attack, high defense, yo don't need anything else, 4 warriors a couple of potions and you can kill everything. As for the jobs, the alchemist from any FF game that has it and the matematician from FFT, attack to whoever you want, move wherever you feel like, not even Orlandu dares to be this broken.

Yufie in 7 is pretty broken once you have her Conformer (ultimate weapon) and Morph. Conformer deals full damage when using morph, unlike any other weapon in the game. It's not a bug, it was apparently intentional, and it makes it easy to make any character busted, as you can farm various enemies into source items that boost stats permanently.

I wouldn’t say Zell is the most broken. He’s good but you’re using a lot of time in his lb so his dps isn’t as high as you would think. If you seen challenges runs, Selphie, Irvine and Zell each have their niches. Just Selphie’s and Irvine’s niche go beyond big damage.

Zell has the highest damage per turn, but in terms of dps, I agree that he isn't as high. Rinoa's Meteor Wing (Angel Wing with Meteor as the only offensive spell) is highly efficient too, her ATB would become insanely fast and you don't even have to press anything once it's set up. Furthermore, once that's used, she will remain in that state forever without worrying about aura status or crisis level.

It really is hard to understate just how broke Thunder God Cid from Tactics was. Orlandeau (the character's real name) was the posterboy for "Broken FF characters". He didn't just have Holy and Dark Knight abilities, but Divine Knight abilities as well! So he has access to the HP/MP drain of Dark Knight like Gaffgarion, the various "Holy(or Lightning) + status ailment" abilities at range like Agrias.... but can also break equipment at range like Meliadoul. The man was an unstoppable monster! Throw onto *_THAT_* that he had the aforementioned Excalibur which granted permanent auto-Haste, boosted and absorbed Holy damage.... and you get him at like level 60! He really does break the game. .... Sometimes in a bad way! Because you obtain him at such a high level, if you are unprepared for him being so strong, it can actually screw you over. The game scales random encounters to be equal level with the highest level party member in your group. For example, when I first played the game, my party was about level 30-35 when I got Thunder God Cid in my party! And he was level 60.... suddenly the entire WORLD became a minefield as all random encounters jumped in level. I was not prepared for the random bandits, panthers, and goblins I've been fighting to be suddenly replaced with hydras, dragons, and behemoths! And because I was young, I had NO IDEA WHY! I genuinely believe a lot of people really loved Orlandeau here is because of the same situation I just described. The game suddenly cranked up the difficulty, and they subconciously felt they had *_NO CHOICE_* but to react in kind, and pull out the major cannon that was Orlandeau. He was so powerful that he made the young players feel safe, and that they could breeze through these terrifying encounters that suddenly happened to them. And I'm not saying that happened to like... everyone... or even most folks. Just... a fair few, who were like me. I think after that first playthrough, I never used Orlandeau again. Man was too strong. Generics for life. Story characters are a crutch. Calculator for life, except when the War of the Lions added Dark Knight... then both are good.

I was pretty surprised to see Wakka on here. Yeah, his attack reels do the most damage in the game with his celestial weapon and max stats, but the setup to get there is extremely long and fairly difficult. Since you have to effectively master blitzball. Which entails recruiting the right blitzball players and also playing it enough to level them up and get the right skills and then also have to play through multiple tournaments and leagues. Which is kind of a waste of time when you have Rikku and Tidus, who have two fairly quick and easy celestial weapons to get. And you can just abuse them mashing OD and quick hit. In the time spent getting Wakka to max out, you could have done everything already. So I wouldn't really call him broken because of the time investment needed. I'd say that Yuna is more broken, since you can pretty easily get Zanmato to come out and one shot almost every enemy in the game.

Zanmato is the key. Wakka's full Attack Reels are awesome, hitting up to 12 99,999 caps, but being able to one shot Penance in exchange for just gil is the most broken.

Blitz all is only hard at the start with the basic team. The ships pilot is a broken BB player, he is one of the fastest and all his stats besides maybe catch are higher than every other player. He can field any position (besides maybe goalie) I had him in middle. He would one shot their midfielder and would be able to shoot straight away. I swear one game I got over 10 goals with him.

@@slobiden.2593 Yep; I always start by recruiting Brother (the pilot, Rikku's brother) as the midfielder, Ropp for defense, and Wedge as a forward. Wedge has dominant stats for breaking through defenses as well as access to tackle slip early. Pairs well with Jecht shot eliminating defenders on the other side. Brother's early game stats are dominant and will regularly win possession as well as recovering fast enough to help the defense, and Ropp is a huge boost in the back over the default Aurochs. Then you just have to save scum and run games while you pick up your preferred end game roster. For me that's Nimrook in goal from the Al Bhed Psychs, Kulukan/Vuroja/Larbeight from the Kilika Beasts, and I keep Ropp and Tidus with Wakka on the bench for nostalgia purposes.

Celestial Weapon actually don't affect Overdrive damage, only the Strength stat does.

3:43 The only problem with this, is that both Ramza and (in WotL) Luso have access to Yell, which increases speed, compounding into a fighter that gets dozens of actions before the enemy can attack. It's also useable on others, meaning you can abuse this skill to rapidly get any character to level 99 in a single fight with ease. Only takes 990 actions on yourself from level 1 to 99 in a single fight, including just using a potion on yourself. You can obviously also break this up over many fights, but you start back over at your 5-8 spd again. Ramzas Scream however places him at the tippy top. Increases speed, power, and a few other stats I forget lol. Ramza is an untouchable God in FFT and WotL both because of his speed boosting capabilities.

fang is better than vanille. yes vanille's death comes in handy for obtaining an early growth egg and turtle farming but once you're maxed out the true strongest character is fang by a landslide. highwind is too good.

wakka also had an attack that cast blind/darkness, inflict that on an enemy and they would miss physical attacks. that's one of the strategies i remember using, there was also a trick i picked up in ff9, cast reflect on your party and then cast attack magic on yourself, it would reflect unto the enemy for double the damage. i was never into all the technical stuff, give me character that hits hard, a healer and a dark magic caster. ff13 made me vary from that play style, you weren't given much choice but to learn the mechanics of each of the classes in order to build up that stagger gauge.

Cid really is the GOAT. Everyone said everything there is to say about him in FFT, so I'll mention something else. In FFXIV, they even nerfed him, cause he was wiping too many parties in the Alliance Raid he's in. Post nerf, he still does anyway. He might be busted, but he's too badass to not like. I just love that in FFXIV, we're on the other end of what we did to enemies with him back in the day lmao

I would argue Rebirth Yuffie is pretty damn broken. Not only can you infuse her weapon with different elements on the spot - costing zero MP- but her doppelgänger ability is a literal game changer. Buff her with haste, protect, and shell and you’ve got one hell of a powerhouse. And not just that - during fights with elemental-based enemies, fully level up Elemental Materia and equip it to her armor connected with the respective materia element, but every character can do that. Feels like cheating when enemies are healing me the whole battle!

You left out Edgar from ff6! Dude can literally walk through the monster arena uncontested as long as you don't try to fight chuppon. Being able to hit for max damage 8 times and just going again is pretty busted. I know you can teach every Character all the magic but you can make Edgar king of the arena by only teaching him quick and giving him the genji glove offering combo with attack weapon and ragnorok or illumina. Just sell his tools and don't grab the chainsaw til after you complete the arena in the end of the world. He will never lose in the arena like this.

During development you were actually supposed to get Beatrix instead of Steiner but (I'm paraphrasing) they decided to split her into 2 characters because they needed comedic relief and the player (unfortunately) gets the crappier of the 2 as a permanent character. Steiner doesn't even have 4 commands unless you have Vivi in your party. He really is just a terrible character all around and I replace him with Quina ASAP every time I play.

I feel like being a little more generous and describing broken characters within their games. FF6: We have a few contenders here. But 'psycho Cyan' and gau are typically known ones where if you get the right rages, gau can solo the game. but... there's also Mog... mog's dances are always able to abuse, and it's always easy to learn Mog's dances. Mog also has some of the highest all around stats, uses polearms which is great if you want to go the dragoon route, or be a mage tank. Can equip the snow scarf which is the best accessory in game AND... mululu charm. ff7 base: Yuffie has some of the strongest limit breaks, being in backrow is a huge help AND she has the best full slot and ultimate weapon with Oritsuru and COnformer. The levels of difference in these compared to the others is massive. She can also overflow glitch Emerald the quickest with All creation +5 hero drinks. She's also incredibly useful for stat farming and is your go to for the 3 to use for 'materia leveling' with the rising sun also being the strongest double weapon for it. Tifa may have the most busted weapon for speedrun, but outside of that, all strengths go to Yuffie. Especially since Tifa caps out pretty early and never gets better. ffX: It is slightly correct to say wakka can do the most damage...sometimes. Kimahri actually can do the most damage when you have a version that allows you to hit the 999,999 limit. Nova is so strong that he doesn't need to max his stats to max that damage out. It's AoE, ignores magic defense, so even on 'tanky enemies or physically immune' it still maxes out.

I know it's not a character but a job instead...so an honorable mention goes to the calculator job in tactics. Pair a well placed/timed/calculated Holy that targets damn near everyone on the field while having all your party equipped with Excalibur or chameleon robes (both of which absorb hily damage) and you win every battle.

Black Belt from the original Final Fantasy. At a high level, he one shots everything, including Chaos (final boss). Combine this with a black mage chanting FAST (one of the most broken spells in the FF series) and it gets utterly absurd. And he does this bare-fisted with no weapons equipped.

A broken class would be FFXIV's Blue Mage. Raise it right and you can solo raid content. Also Gogo from FFVI was pretty broken as he could use all the magic and abilities of all party members. I'm not talking about his mimic either. You can legit give him the other party members commands in the custom menu, he automatically knows all moves and magic from the whole party.

I would consider Irvine to be far more broken then Zell. Bust his stats, put him in crisis, and use shotgun ammo to eradicate entire groups of enemies at once, or use demolition ammo to easily reach the 9999 damage limit. He's as broken as the ammo you can find or refine, and thats not hard.

Demolition ammo and pulse ammo's firing speeds are too slow, at max strength, his best limit break against Omega Weapon is fast ammo if you have a fast trigger finger. Zell's is still more broken if you can input the commands precisely and efficiently.

For people who don't understand just how broken Rikku is; a solo run of the game with Rikku without leveling up a single time is not even considered a challenge if you're allowed to use her overdrive. Basically, she is so busted that you can easily beat the entire game by herself without leveling up a single time. Wakka surely is strong and the next strongest character in that game, but he's only that strong when he has the equipment and stats to back it up.

@@Mike-ix5sv Because items are busted as hell too. For example, Petrify Grenades destroy just about everything that's not a boss. They are easy to steal and you can easily make armor that's first resistant by buying soft and then immune with said Petrify Grenades that you steal. It's not easy to solo the game without leveling, but if you know the game mechanics it's not as bad as you'd think. It's actually ironic the difference between how hard people will find a boss like the 2nd Seymour fight who don't know what they're doing with regular leveling up, and those who can just get through it simply without even leveling up by knowing the game inside & out.

Yuna/ yojimbo with Zanmato is way more broken than Wakka imo. Nothing is immune to it. With Wakka you also need to hit the reals perfectly, which imo isn't that easy.

For Jobs, I think the only version of Summoner that isn't busted is the one in Bravely Default (which you may not be counting as an FF game). Summoners usually get offensive, healing, and support summons, making them a stronger version of both Black and White Mages. Red Mages are also always strong. They either get Dualcast to make other mage jobs ridiculous, or essentially end up being nearly as strong as Black Mages while also having access to healing and support abilities. For physical jobs, I don't think there's ever a bad instance of Knight/Paladin or Monk, though they won't usually break the game. Rangers and Ninjas, on the other hand, are almost always the best damage dealers due to getting free hits in some way. For a more obscure job, the Assassin in FFTA is broken. They have the highest speed in the game, and essentially have 4 different ways to kill opponents (KO, Stone, Sleep+Doom, and high damage). Jugglers are another Job from FFTA I really like. Early game, just use Dagger to deal about as much damage as your Archer/Sniper/Hunters basic attacks while also potentially inflicting Disable. Late game, just use Smile on your Assassin to have them take another when out before the opponent's team even gets a turn.

@@veghesther3204 Yeah it absolutely takes forever to learn, but what do you mean by it not working with Bahamut? I've only played the Adv version where Dualcast works fine with him, and I couldn't find anything about a bug on the original that prevented you from using the two together.

I'm surprised that TG Cid made the list, but Cecil did not. Cid in FFT isn't really that OP compared to what can be done with the job system, he just has the best in slot Knight Sword. However with Cecil, he can literally solo the game on his own the moment he becomes a Paladin. His available equipment and natural stat growths make him nearly immune and resistant to most of the nastiest attacks in the game. The only hard-counter he has is the Doom Countdown effect, but given his damage output, its very likely he can end an encounter before it ticks off if sufficiently leveled.

Idk if it counts but ffta blu using matra magic would switch the targets hp and mp… usually reducing them to single digits since everyone starts with 0 mp, u could use a fusilier to ether shot the blu to give them mp and then the blu could 1 shot an enemy that hasn’t had a turn yet or just get them low and snipe them with a ranged attack

You left Relm off the list? she outright breaks various versions of FF6, her paint ability is so glitchy it's unreal. Also Cait Sith absoloutly should have had a slot on this list over selphie, her limit is less exploitable than his due to it being locked behind 'reels' meaning you could potentially never get The End no matter how many times you Do Over, if it's not the right reel. You can rig Cait Sith's slots with a few tricks to insakill anything you want without the limitations of Selphie (who also can't insteakill undead). His Slots are simply more abusable than hers, if you know how to abuse them. Also Rinoa is the most broken of all the FF8 characters, because of Invincable Moon, you can just make your full team perminantly invulnerable with her (do NOT learn any other Angelo limits but that one and it's a guarantee). Zell's limit damage is obserd, but as you said yourself, most characters limits can do insane damage that his dosen't even stand out.. perminant invulnerability though.. is beyond busted.

seriously, do not sleep on quina. if you have the option to max out a character to make them stronger, it is quina and freya. you can continue to catch frogs and max out the damage stat of the ability. the same way you can continue to max out freya by just killing more dragons. if other characters are hit with the mini status like steiner, their abilities will no longer hit max damage, quina and freya on the other hand will. and both of them are basically allrounders with their other skills

Tactics goes from being a moderately difficult game (especially if you're new to the genre) to a brain dead easy game the second he joins you. Vanille's death is not broken simply because it's an instant kill with no resource cost. It's also broken because Commando buffered Death does insane damage up to 1m. And the cherry on top, unlike other characters like Snow or Fang who have 1m damage moves, Death does not end stagger. Vanille will carry you into all the late game fights even for monsters immune to death. In terms of her strength proportional to the game I still think it's only in the middle compared to other games since FFXIII has very few ways to not play the stagger game.

I actually would have gone with Barrett in FF7R. Lifesaver uses 1ATB and will absorb all damage taken by the party until he has 1HP. As long as he doesn't die, you don't even need to recast it. You can pair this with the Enemy skill Self Destruct (that would normally kill you) and Barrett will tank all the damage without dying. Use Chakra with Barrett and repeat. It's also accessible very early in your playthrough.
