The Rampaging Wolverine one-shot from 2009 had some brutal stuff. In one of the anthology’s stories, Wolverine’s plane was shot down and he went down in a fireball of a crash. Emerging from the wreckage and burning alive, a sniper shot him in the eye, heart, lung, knee, stomach, but Wolverine kept coming. Cool stuff. There was another one-shot in the same time period where Wolverine fell to earth from space after taking out a space station (or something), and then got shot 4 times by a farmer after he went to investigate what fell to earth. Funny stuff.

nnnh I don't think that Thing v Wolverine fracas happened in 1961. That art, ink, and coloring style looks a lot more like the 80s, and I do remember that was a period when Thing was wearing a helmet. Also also IIRC they had a different altercation in the FF v Xmen miniseries, so I'm not sure which lead to the facial covering.
