It's a shame this franchise has a... crappy reputation thanks to the kids that play it and the constant releases that some say feel like the same game over again. I'm not a fan myself, but I can recognise that it revolutionised the FPS genre for home consoles, and that deserves respect

Yes it did step forward into the future, but one thing i need to get straight, Call of duty isn't really that bad, i know they complain about the same gameplay,but what about other games such as Battlefield, they didn't change the gameplay either right? i mean their gameplay is what made their Game That. i mean the Kids is what really ruined Cod franchise, i was playing one time, a lot of kids Camping, then i rooted all of them out, started with a grenade, and take a little spot at their camping place for a very short time, then change place, in other ways, i kicked their butt after the game they were shouting/crying telling me not to play shit, WTF, i told those miserable kids "do you know how i did not played shit? by kicking your asses out of your camping spot" but i send it to the wrong person. that kid is Total shit but lets admit it MW3 is what really destroyed COD reputation, they made a new game that is not better than MW2, but Wow Ghost is incredible with all the new updates.

I used to like playing Call of Duty but not anymore. I feel that every year it is the same game more or less. For me the series started going down hill when MW3 released. I still played it but I didn't really enjoy it. After Black Ops 2 I switched to Battlefield 3 and I have been a fan of the series ever since. Still this Top 10 brought back memories.

IgorThe German I loved Cod4, I enjoyed MW2, I didn't like MW3 but still played it and BO2 was okay. It was during BO2 that I realized I didn't enjoyed COD anymore. I needed another FPS to play so I picked up BF3 and I became hooked on the series. I still play COD4 sometimes and the WW2 campaigns but that's it.

***** You have to realize that people are paying for the formula. No game have ever managed to capture the feel that CoD brings. Overpowering, tacticts and the discovery of a new favourite gun etc.. You have valid points, and I agree that paying 60 dollars every year for a reimagining of the game is a tad too much, but if you have houndreds of hours on a game, and you've played enough to be good, the feeling of quitting CoD completely isn't something players are willing to do.

That however is what every media is turning into. Now there are those that go outside this, but most people want a character hero that they can see themselves has, and connect with.

Donald Baker yes well I think that's an unfortunate trend and honestly I think it's total bullcrap because it removes any sense of suspense when the outcome is inevitable, whereas in my favourite franchise, Assassin's Creed, the difference between the Templars and the Assassins and the difference between 'good' and 'bad" isn't so clear cut so while yes the Assassins will probably win there's this moral ambivalence which at least shakes things up a bit.

Jamie R BO had the worst lag, and the worst hit detection in any games I have ever played. The game had multiple spawn problems (however can not just give that problem to the BO franchise) and treyarch is the worst game company. The only treyarch games that were any good were the THPS series. Yet after the first THPS that series went downhill. No pun intend. BO and BO2 felt has though no skill was need. Almost every map was small, and was something that appealed to little kids. If you liked the games then good on you and have fun. I for one won't buy anymore CoDs that treyarch makes. Oh yeah they also always nerf the assault rifles yet make the SMG op. So if Also BO1 and 2 both had campers everywhere. They even made it easier to quick scope which is a glitch in the game itself, however many people liked it. So they made it easier to do it. I feel like favela should have been in this. It had a good dynamic of close quarter fighting because of the allies and some solid long distance shooting from the elevated buildings and the down hill street and is probably one of the best search and destroy maps of all time hands down. Plus that map just looks gorgeous just being able to see the entire city from a top of a building.

Crossfire was by far my number #1. It had everything; Wanna run around with a shotty/SMG? Stick to the outer area. Wanna creep around with an assault rifle? Tons of buildings to move around within with lines of sight into other ones. Wanna hang around and snipe? Of course you do, we got sight lines running the whole length of the map with a street perfect for you to snipe anyone that dares run across. Perfect for any game mode or any play style, this is the most perfect map ever in any game to me. And I also have to say that nuketown is really not even close to number 1 for me... Honestly it's one of the lowest on the list, I'm all for fast paced gameplay but nuketown, shipment and rust just weren't fun when played with more than 6 people.. Getting killed because an enemy was shooting at your teammate and hit you through a wall, getting spawn killed by killstreaks, getting spawn killed by grenades, getting spawn killed by some guy running through your side of the map, and all that is just not fun to me... Sure you end up dying in bullshit ways on bigger maps too, but it happens way too often in those maps and drains the fun out of them for me.

Actually, Ghosts has very good maps. The only problem is how realistic they've made the gameplay and that just makes Ghosts less fun than any other CoD therefore we associate its maps with being terrible as well. Imagine playing MW2 on a Ghosts map, it would be amazing. The game mechanics of Ghosts is the problem, not the maps.
