Super helpful video for new Ryker riders and those considering buying one. Glad you mentioned the engine braking, the clunk, and missing potholes. As an experienced rider, I was very pleasantly surprised to discover the Ryker to be more fun and more forgiving than any two wheeled bike. If you're on the fence about purchasing one, go ahead and jump. You won't regret it. Also, be sure to watch all of Ryker Rydes videos.

Another great video. You covered so much. I would add a couple of small things for new riders ... - The Ryker brakes much faster than an car. Tap your brakes twice at the point you are starting to slow down (for a stop light, etc.). You probably wont be hitting your brake yet, just throttling down as Beth described, but if you tap brakes the car behind you knows of your intention to stop. - Research, research, research before spending your hard earned money. There are a lot of great mods ... read reviews, watch awesome KZbin videos, like Beth’s, and make sure the thing you are buying is likely to do what you want and that you have the means and capability to install it (Ryker is made to be customized ... so most things are easy). Also, for those looking at aftermarket lighting ... check the laws in you area ... under glow, for eg, is illegal in many states and provinces, especially if red and or blue. Don’t buy something that you cant use and have to pay a ticket for. Beth, as always, it was a pleasure watching. Keep up the great work!!!
@RykerRydes4 жыл бұрын
Paul, everything you said is spot on!! I did forget to mention about stopping at lights and tapping the brake so the oncoming car knows your stopped. Great point!!! Also checking the laws about lights is a great tip too! Maybe you can do my next vid with me!!

Awesome! Thank you! I really appreciate your comment. Unfortunately, from my experience, a lot of people are bringing home their Rykers and know so little about them. So I thought I'd make a YT channel devoted to helping others learn about their bike and all the fun ways to modify it! Maybe one day BRP will send me their latests model to work on and review!!! Is BRP really working on a hybrid or electric version? So exciting! Thanks again for watching, I am honored!

I have been riding motorcycles for more than 35 years on the street and even off road as a kid as long as I can remember!! Grew up on a dead end street, can’t even ever remember seeing any cops patrolling our block. We lived in an unincorporated area. My entire block was family or friends of family for ever! It was a really great place to grow up! However it was like your parents were everywhere! Couldn’t get away with spit! Mom eyes were everywhere, LOL!! My last bike was a Valkyrie 1530cc monster! Loved that bike. Smoothest motor ever. Flat horizontal apposed 6. I could stand a nickel on it edge and rev the motor ang the nickel would not fall over!!!

Great video for new Riders. "What's That Burning Smell"-- Usually that is the metal engine part's oily residue from manufacturing burning off. Some parts are also sprayed with a factory coating to keep them preserved/sealed until the engine is finally run for the 'break in' period where it all burns off too, producing that 'new engine stink' a lot of new people freak out about. During my VIN inspection I did spot an unfortunate melted factory sticker that someone had placed on metal that apparently got too hot for such a thing. It must have been stinking too until it charred away. Maybe it once read 'warning this metal gets incredibly hot', but most likely it was a useless factory parts number left on. So your guess about stuff left on the engine seems pretty spot on too.

Hi Beth I knew your speakers weren’t gonna work where they were because the suspension bounces up and down they have to be on the handlebars but you don’t need to put a switch in or connected to the battery you open the fuse box and use a test light to see what fuse is off when you turn the motorcycle off and you hook up directly to that fuse. I give you a lot of credit beth you’re very smart girl ! keep it up your friend from Long Island Ritchie👍🏻

Oops, hit the send button too soon! Had to sell the bike in 2008 to pay property taxes when they came due! Then a few years ago I suffered a major stroke. I recovered very well in about 9 months but my balance never returned back to what it once was. The 3 wheels are my answer! I drive for a living like a Fed X or UPS driver so my driving skills are top notch. I drive about 12 to 1300 miles every week. Most days are between 10 to 12 hours a day. My wife and I use to ride a lot, but she isn’t keen about riding as a passenger anymore. However she knows I can drive a car just fine. Personally I don’t think I wast to ride 2 wheels anymore, but this could get me back on the open road!! Thinking about the 1330cc model with the hard bags in the back. I’d like the trunk but I don’t like the cost of that model. The one I have my eye on is about $21500.00 MSRP. I might to work on the dealer a bit to get the price I want cause I WILL NOT PAY MSRP! They are really selling like crazy rite now and the dealers are not sing the song I want to hear! Maybe I might have to buy in December or January, February time frame to make a deal we can both live with! Would I like one this summer? You bet, however I can wait to get a great deal!! I’m not an emotional buyer, I’m a smart buyer! I sold Luxury cars for about 20 years and understand depression all too well! Haven’t sold cars for the last 5 or 6 years. But when I did, I had almost a perfect JD Power rating from my customers every year!! That’s no small accomplishment. I always treated my customers like they were Family. Many of them bought cars from me every few years! Remember, I was selling luxury cars, some of my customers were very wealthy and would also send me their other rich friends for my no BS sales experience. I just got tired of working all the crazy hours and every weekend. 20 years of that was enough. The stroke really made me re-evaluate my wants and needs. Now I’m happy to work my 50 to 60 hours a week. No weekends, and as much OT as I want or don’t want!! Sorry for the long ranting post but that’s my story!
@RykerRydes4 жыл бұрын
Let me start by saying, thank you for sharing your story with me. You are a funny and intriguing writer. Very captivating. I am sorry about your stroke but am glad you are doing so well now. It must be discouraging not being able to ride a two wheeler anymore (by the way your childhood sounded AMAZING....sadly very few have that experience anymore) . Riding a trike sounds like the perfect solution for you. Now finding you the right one, is the fun part. You mentioned looking at, what seemed to be Spyders. They are great and have many advantages, such as power steering and other creature comforts. If you do not plan on riding with a passenger or going on long, overnight trips....have you considered a Ryker? I would guess you have and that's how you found my channel. What are your thoughts on those? The Ryker does not have power steering, but is never an issue once you twist the throttle. I think it is at a great price point for you. You may want to consider a good used bike, still under warranty. I was able to get my 2019 900 Ryker for a steal with only 500 miles. The owner's wife got pregnant and made him sell it (poor guy lol). Let me know how your search is going and please reach out if I can assist you in your journey to getting back on the road!! Stay well, Beth

Great video Beth! I've watched multiple times to glean all your information. What I'd also like to know is how wet your legs get when riding? Does the water channel right up through between the wheel and foot rest? Some motorcycles have a piece you can add to keep your legs dry(er) when riding in the rain. I am planning on picking up a used Ryker 900 in the near future. I also like your section on helmets. I like the more open style for better visibility and more open at the chin.
@RykerRydes2 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel, thanks for watching! The Ryker's fenders, keep your legs pretty dry in the rain. I do carry a rain suit with me for the big FL downpours. As far as helmets go, I switched to a full face. I decided I like me chin and want to keep it (in case of an accident). I did ride with a 3/4 for a long time and miss the tons of air circulation. So I totally understand. Ride safe, have fun!
@paulgoold10554 жыл бұрын
I forgot one other thing ... all Ryker models are great. Each has their place, depending on your style and terrain. I always suggest that people try to think of how they would like to be riding in a year, not how they ride today ... especially if new. Also, if it is in your budget i always suggest the 900 for added resale ease and value, when it does come time to upgrade. Just my opinion.

With my motorcycle, I can go to any garage, but if I was to buy a Can Am where I live (UK) it's over 200 miles away to the dealer I want to use. PS love you videos, keep it up :)
@RykerRydes4 жыл бұрын
Great question! You might want to call local motorcycle shops and see if they have "can am authorized" mechanics there? With the Ryker being so new, even the dealerships are not that experienced working on them. They just know how to get the parts needed etc.

I am so glad you mentioned the speed control item. Do you feel that anything you "used" the 3M tape to adhere to the bike is lasting?

So far 3M is great. No issues. I also use a lot of zip ties too, and still holding my bike together.

Wow Awesome Beth you covered it all....maybe a blue stripe on your full face helmet..If i choose to buy one i think i might try making an actual gear lever like suicide shifters on some bikes ..the lining up your knee tip was excellent for bumps ..does the Ryker have the same safety nanny as the Spyder so if you started to slide in the wet the nanny would cut in to bring you back into the safety zone also does it have traction control ?
@RykerRydes4 жыл бұрын
HI! Thanks so much! Yes the Ryker has great traction control and the "nanny" will kick on and slow you down if you are taking a turn to fast and senses one of the wheels is not stable. I feel very safe on it, as safe as you can be on a bike.

Great video! I'm looking into buying a used ryker from a dealer. What are you top 5 question that are good to ask a dealer?
@RykerRydes4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and subscribing!! This is a great question. The first thing I’d ask is to see the service records. Has it been brought in for regular maintenance? Any accidents? Any issues? Have recalls been corrected? Will they change the oil for you at no charge, before you buy it? Any free accessories they can throw in? If I think of anything else, I will add it here.

Excellent video with great tips and info! After some of the extensive rides you've done, if you could do it again would you get a Spyder, or stick with the Ryker? Just curious from your experiences. Love your down-to-earth, no-nonsense, informative/intuitive videos!
@RykerRydes3 жыл бұрын
Thank you sooooo much Keith. That is a tough question because the Ryker is all I really have known. I love my Ryker (that should be obvious lol). But when I bought my Ryker I did not know I’d want to do so much long distance riding. For the longer rides I think a Spyder would be more comfortable.

Hello! I love your videos. They are very informative. I am on the market for the ryker 900 for the same reasons you chose yours over the rally. What color blue is on your ryker. I love that color blue. And, have you ever been in an accident? My only hesitation is the fear of being hit by a car. Finally, did you get the warranty through the dealership? Thanks
@RykerRydes4 жыл бұрын
Hi Herman! Thanks for your comments. As far as my blue color, it is all a wrap. I do not have the name of it. It is pretty similar to the blue can am offers. Accidents? Nope, hopefully never will. There is a sense of security you have riding a 3 wheeler vs a 2. Much more stable. But I ride each ride, very defensively, always assuming people don't see me or assume they will stop short, pull out in front of me etc. There is always a risk, every-time you get on a bike. Dressing for an accident is very important. I like to ride in full gear, even though others I ride with are in shorts and no helmet. Their choice. If you get a bike, ride it at off peak times to get yourself very comfortable. TAKE THE RIDING COURSE!!! No I did not get the extended warranty. I prefer to pay as I go.

Awesome video (again!). I was wondering how you found a group of 'Trikers" - if that is an actual word - to ride with. I'm sure there are multiple groups in FL, but where would you suggest searching for groups in other areas. Thanks!
@RykerRydes3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Evan. I think the best way to find a Can-Am riding group near you is to check FB. Do a search for Ryker or Spyder and the name of the city or state you live in and see what pops up. Another option is to stop by your local dealership and see if they know of any groups. Believe me, they are out there and want to ride with you too! Hope this helps.

I know you said that rykers are not made for long distance..i have seen videos where some say that they have traveled 1000 miles or so on a ryker..I am on the planning stage of getting a rally..just like it more..no particular reason…but i do want to go on long distance riding. i’m talking like 4 to 6 hours. maybe more..i respect your advice…so i’m asking your thoughts on this
@RykerRydes3 жыл бұрын
Hi Luis! I have certainly ridden 6 hours at one time on many occasions, and it is doable. There are so many ways to make long trips more comfortable: seat cushions, throttle assist, foam grips, backrest etc (I have videos and links for all that). The Spyder is a totally different riding experience (power steering, speakers, cruise control etc.) but you sit higher up and feels a lot less sporty. Hope this helped a little bit.

Im in the market for a ryker 900… find the info great and very helpful… living in germany… talking about MPG, have you compared higher Octane fuel between super and super plus? also have you ever been in a aquaplaning situation how does the cycle react?
@RykerRydes Жыл бұрын
Hi there. No, I have not measured the difference between super and super plus. I can’t imagine it being significant. The biggest mpg impact is riding on the highway vs side roads. Yes I have gotten caught in bad rain etc. the Ryker does well, but feels much like a car would in that situation.

Hello cheeky, so no rips today (in the wash are they) - nice introduction to new riders - that would be me as my last bike was a Suzuki 200 cc and that was a long long time ago but maybe one day if I survive this Co-Vid19 and I look at how to convert my car into a camper vehicle - no jokes about Scots being tight assed. If I get one then it will be 2nd hand Spyder but not an RT ltd - too expensive. Cheers Beth how is your tongue - still inside and not out poking at me!! LOL!

Does the dealer give you two programmed keys ??? To unlock lock your electrical system..... that jet key that goes in side panel
@RykerRydes4 жыл бұрын
Yes I did receive 2 keys, but I am a little unclear about what you mean "unlocking the electrical system...that jet key that goes in the side panel"?
@richvarela96364 жыл бұрын
You answered my QUESTION.... I should have made it simpler... I mean rhe key that goes in the left side that would disable the bike if you didnt insert it... In other words like a programmed car key... The car wont start without the programed car key in ignition.. Only other way is remote start... But that wont allow u to dtive ur car... In other words the jet key which is programned for your specific ryker is needed to start your bike and turn it on and so on..
@RykerRydes4 жыл бұрын
@@richvarela9636 Yes, I understand you now. You should get 2 keys. I believe one of the keys on the 2020 comes with a speed limiter.

Good video for newbies, though I did learn a few things despite several years of 2-wheeling experience now practiced on an RT-S. For some a drink holder is a good thing, but why mount it on the throttle side? Can you reach it with the left hand? Or, do you stop to drink? Is there no place to mount it on the left side? ???
@RykerRydes4 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian, thanks for your comment. As far as the drink holder, there is no room on the left side because of the brake lock. Plus I never drink and drive lol!!
