IDK. If you're in the open freshwater marshes in Mozambique, I'd agree with you. In a place like Limpopo, the buffs have a million and 1 places to hide and set up a charge. I don't think I'd have been terribly happy in this circumstance to have my PH do it, but I'd also understand why he did it. It's actually quite impressive how such large animals can simply vanish until the moment is right for them to start a charge from only 30 or 40 feet away. Or if you're talking about #7 in Tanzania, I totally agree with you. That was BS. Sullivan is a douche.

@@AfricanSafariFilms I've seen clips of Mark S goading DG to charge - very unprofessional IMHO - especially when with novice hunter clients! Btw I don't consider Mark S safe enough PH to guide novice clients - his methods being too "gung-ho". He's the PH who has faced more charges than any other - either he's naturally unlucky, or, (more likely) doing something wrong!! In comparison, my PH (with 40yrs of DG experience) has only ever had 3 risky situations in total.

I used to be a hunter. I appreciate hunting videos in which the hunter waits, lures or looks for his prey, walking stealthily and shooting at close range. Approaching is the "chance" given to the animal to sense the human and run away. This would be a hunt where the best would win. As we have seen, with the guidance of professionals, shooting with a scope and at a great distance, just proves that the hunter did not deserve this hunt. This modality is anything but sports.

As a kid I always wanted to go on a cape Buffalo hunt but if this is what thousands of dollars buys ,I believe I'll pass especially if you get the first shot and your guide gets the rest. NO thanks.
