Winona Ryder shoplifting Marc Jacobs while wearing Marc Jacobs, and then later becoming a model for a Marc Jacobs campaign is the definition of iconic.

Do you mean ironic? And if so it's not the definition
@tocc5 жыл бұрын
@@gusstabithc It says iconic, not ironic. I know what irony is. You seem very eager to pick up on mistakes that aren't even there.

@@tocc iconic: adjective; of, relating to, or having the characteristics of an icon; widely recognized and well-established; widely known and acknowledged especially for distinctive excellence. What you described was not iconic, it was a coincidence. You seem to be pretty cocky about your knowledge of the English language.
@tocc5 жыл бұрын
@@gusstabithc If you've never heard people use iconic in this context then that's on you. Neologisms and slang meanings of words and terms are perfectly valid for use, especially in the youtube comment section, 'm not writing my PhD thesis. And even if I was, you're no professor. You inserted yourself where no one asked just so you could let people know that you know the definition of irony. You couldn't even wait for someone to actually use the word ironic incorrectly, that's how eager you were to showcase your superior English language abilities. I have a two part question for you: 1) Why are you so eager to correct others that you don't actually care to think for 5 seconds about whether or not you're even in the right? and 2) Why the fuck do you even care? My grasp on the English language is perfectly adequate in my eyes and if it isn't in your eyes, I don't really care. PS: it's 'inquisition' not 'inqusition'

When the other guys got caught they mostly took their bans and apologised, Armstrong attcked anyone and everyone and that's why when he finally had no way to hide it anymore he's become so hated.

You can slam him all you want - Bush took it lightly - but you should NEVER - NEVER slam your leaders - on the eve of war!!!!!! There are no exceptions to this!!!! Wait a few days then bitch all you want - but NEVER bitch about your leaders - as troops are lining up to go to war - and quite possibly - their own deaths!!!!!!!!!

Jeff Schwartz I don't know if you're that stupid or the law is that stupid, but people definitely should not be jailed or executed for sharing their opinions... otherwise half of the people on all sorts of media should be jailed or executed. It does not matter if it's the brink of war or whatever... Jailing people that do not share the same opinions as the ruler is called tyranny. Rather, I'd argue that it's even more important to share concerns, if you have some, before actual war happens.... Even presidents make mistakes, maybe some of those concerns could make them change their mind.

Rose Gleek What they said was not the issue. Plenty of celebrities, including other country musicians, were saying the same and worse. The issue was WHERE they said it. Had they said it at a concert in the US, it likely would have blown over and they would still be charting country hits.

Dj BearMetal I have to disagree. Case in point, Sheryl Crow was openly anti-war in 2002-03 and had a hit (Picture with Kid Rock) on the country charts at the same time as the Dixie Chicks comments. She did not lose her standing with Country fans. In fact she even won an award at the CMAs later in 2003. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill also made anti-Bush comments, yet never fell in the eyes of their fans. The LOCATION of their comments is the only difference.
