Molly Ringwald is fluent in French. Like Jodie Foster, Ringwald studied French at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles. In the mid-1990s, Ringwald moved to France and appeared in a few French-speaking movies. Ringwald was briefly married to a French writer, Valéry Lameignère, from 1999 to 2002.

@@HarFin123 what's not so epic about it also is that her french is basic/broken, I really don't get the zealousness of people wanting to add to the number of languages they speak at any level, I don't know about other ones but her french is riddled with mistakes and with very basic phrasing at that-

6:00 Timothée Chalamet switching from French to English sounds like a lot of conversations here in Montréal, Canada. It's Frenglish all around, we switch between both languages like they're simply one language sometimes. I'll never get tired of it, it's so unique. Like a union between two worlds.

Audrey Hepburn was not American, she was actually born in Brussels, Belgium. Her mother was Dutch and her father was British, so she grew up Belgium (where she learned French), then she studied in the UK and then moved to the Netherlands. Besides her native Dutch and English, she spoke French, German, Italian and Spanish 😉

Certain ones should be left out - sauf Jodie Foster, Timothée Chalamet & Diane Kruger - if you speak broken and/or basic French only (substitute any other language as people have a strong tendency to include any language as one of their spoken ones at that level these days) with a very strong accent, is that really speaking the language (I love Bradley Cooper, but saying he 'mastered' French would be a gross overestimation - well, while still being a lot better than most others on the list)?

In Canada, it is a requirement to have french classes in school. In the USA, i think its Spanish

Two years of any language was required at my US high school and then if you wanted to continue thereafter it was an elective. And yes, I took Spanish but I stopped after two because I was just that bad at it. I wish there were subtitles so I could figure out what everyone was saying.

Totally agree that Jodie Foster's French was as good as I've ever heard. I'd have to give Diane Kruger and Audrey Hepburn very honourable mentions. I wasn't impressed with Bradley Cooper's French. I'd call it serviceable -ie, good, but nowhere near accentless.
