Steinbrenner was supposed to be on the show, but got cut and they kept it as Larry David doing the voice. On the DVDs Steinbrenner said something like, "No one wants to admit there are like that, but they're pretty close"

I watched the cut scenes. Jerry/Larry were correct to cut them. They didn't work very well. Most regular people simply aren't good or convincing actors, I'm sure that includes me.

@@StephenPaulTroup Regis held a 20-year-long grudge to Seinfeld staff for making him to say 'bonkos'. I don't think there was anything wrong with Regis's performance and the scene did fit the storyline nicely. It just wasn't funny.

I've seen enough 'behind the scenes' clips with writers, directors and interviews with Larry and Jerry that if anything, they were intimidated (at the time, at least Larry) by anyone of Regis' stature. If Regis had wanted to collaborate with the writers on what would have been the best lines, I'm sure they would have accommodated him and worked something out. Sounds like Regis is just being a baby (And I always liked Regis, sorry to hear this)
