But it’s an objective measure of a players strength . So when someone makes an uninformed statement about the strength of a player , all that needs to be done is to compare the rating against other players . Based on that objective measure alone , someone claiming Fischer would not be on the list of top 100 players can be shown to not know what he is talking about .

And if you think the rating system has somehow changed in that time span , you’re wrong about that too . If anything , ratings have become inflated so that Fischers 2700 + rating in 1970 would easily be 2800 today . Again, you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. And as an aside , find just one modern grandmaster who agrees with you . I’ll wait .
