Interestingly, in the first place of this ranking, the opponent in the white kimono was of smaller stature compared to the one in the blue kimono, and even so, she managed to beat her, which proves that (as in jiu-jitsu), in Judo a smaller person can beat a bigger person, applying the right techniques.

Great video. Why is it that judo referees are always too slow to stop the match when someone is clearly being choked unconscious?
@non-stopnewaza92662 жыл бұрын
For some reason they seem to ignore a choke is on once they start counting a pin.

I would like to think they want to give the competitors a chance to tap. I wish they would change judo rules to allow a sankaku to continue for more than 20 seconds. In jiu jitsu many triangle chokes go on for more than a minute, some resulting in escapes.

4:48 Jesus, that choke would be fatal. Poor late decision from referee

Can you comment a little bit more on strangle number 9 . It is unique. How is it done ?
@non-stopnewaza92662 жыл бұрын
Here is another match with the same type of strangle: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYjCiql6qNynoLM There is also another example in the video I uploaded yesterday. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3Kzd3Sfjb-phbM It's referred to as sankaku-jime by the Japanese commentators. A hand grips the lapel and pulls it across the neck. 1 leg blocks 1 side of the head. The other leg pushed against the shoulder / tricep so there is added pressure similar to a kata-gatame or sankaku-jime coming from the use of the legs. Seems quite powerful as people usually submit quickly.

There is a choke named for Flavio Canto - always looks like a one-legged Peruvian necktie to me. Would that be considered one of these types of chokes?
@non-stopnewaza92662 жыл бұрын
Yes. I think number 9 would be considered by some to be a canto choke against turtle. I regret not including a Canto choke from guard in this video.

Mami Umeki's bronze medal match vs a British girl - I think it was from Baku in 2016. The other one is a Chelsie Giles match from last year in Tokyo.

Strangle number 9 looks painful . Us it due to the arm trapped in an unusual position ?

Well spotted. That's probably why she was holding her wrist afterwards.

I think #5 (2:14) is not kataha jime. Grabing own right leg by left hand, grabing her left eri by right hand and pushing her head be right foot. New choke hold!
@judojudo38082 жыл бұрын
No. It is kata ha jime
