I´m sorry, but i have to comment. ALOT of you reviewers are complaining about the targeting mechanic in Zombicide. I don't get it! that mechanic is what make the game a strategy game, it forces you to think before using the actions you have availible. No it mite not be especially logical, however where it not there, it would just be dicerolling hack and slash game. That mechanic is, atleast to my mind, what makes the game worth playing. Other than that, i enjoy watching you guys, keep up the good work!

For SEO it might be better if when you "redo" a list (Which I'm perfectly ok with you guys doing every X years or so) you add a year or number modifier. So when I'm looking for this video via google search. I don't keep finding the old one. Or if for instance you make a third one you introduce an amount of noise where we can't find the most recent one. It doens't have to be a "year" as some people will then demand one annually but something to separate the different versions.

Some good, some bad on the list. However not putting Flashpoint Fire Rescue or Sentinels of the Multiverse on the list means I will now boycott your show from this day forth. #onlykidding! :-) No surprise to see every Pandemic variant/game on Zee's list, that was quite amusing. I really need to get this Carnival Zombie game, but it doesn't exist in the UK. However I'm expecting Zombicide Black Plague as a review copy soon and I hope that much in the exact same way of thinking as Sam that I will enjoy this game because the original Zombicide I wasn't keen on. But again Sentinels of the Multiverse, No 1 Co-Op, will be! I'm looking at my 3 boxes of Sentinels stuff and my big Kickstarter pledge for the final one. LOVVVVVE IT! Oh and Dead of Winter is not a co-op. . . . . . . . . .

i find it weird that no comparison was made to sentinels, esp since the video 3 years ago Tom had Sentinels as better than Legendary and sam didn't mention Legendary at all. In this video, they really didn't explain why Legendary suddenly appeared in their lists when it was only a sidenote of Tom's 3 years ago in their first video. Consider that some of their games listed in the older video moved down and out of mention in this video to make room for the new games that came out in that interim, while maybe legendary is the only one from that time that moved up. consistently the internet reviews give the higher rating to sentinels....weird indeed

Lots of semi-cooperative (traitor games) games on this list, (Shadows Over Camelot, Battlestar Galactica, and Dead of Winter). Personally I wouldn't include those as they are not strictly cooperative so not everyone wins/loses together, which to me is what makes a cooperative game.

A testament to how far cooperative games have come is the fact there is little crossover, and also the fact that there are many good games none of you listed. That is not a bad thing. It's a good time to want to work together in board gaming.

For me the list is as follows, here I list games as cooperative if the mode I play the game for most is cooperative (Such as Mage Knight or Descent 2nd): 1. Lord of The Ring LCG 2. Descent 2nd Edition (Coop Expansions) 3. Pandemic Legacy 4. Time Stories 5. Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective 6. Sentinels of the Multiverse 7. Project: Elite 8. Mage Knight 9. Dead of Winter 10. Myth 11. Shadows of Brimstone 12. Arhkam Horror 13. Ghost Stories 14. Pathfinder: Adventure Card Game 15. Warhammer Quest 16. Warhammer Quest Adventure Card Game 17. DND Board Games (Wrath of Ashardalon etc.) 18. Assault on Doomrock 19. WoW TCG Raid Decks 20. Mysterium 21. Defenders of the Realm 22. Robinson Crusoe 23. Shadow over Camelot 24. Mistfall 25. Runeage Just from the top of my head, I am sure I forgot some major ones. Edit: Yes, I forgot Legendary Encounters: Alien and Zcide: Black Plague, they would probably have ended up somewhere in the 15+ and top 10 respectively. Also, I do not consider a game like BSG a cooperative game, as the focus of the game is on the traitors and the cooperative game itself is not that interesting. For Shadows over Camelot, we have never won a game even without traitors, and for Dead of Winter the coop game is interesting enough for the focus not to be on the traitor all the time. Oh and I love Space Alert, that would probably have been top 5 as well.

I'm not big on games where you play a couple sessions and that's it. TIME Stories looks good but the fact that there is no re-playability unless you get another module doesn't bode well for me. The same with Pandemic Legacy where the board or character cards permanently change. I could be wrong a bout Legacy.Pandemic is a very fun game and own all expansions etc. Legacy style games are puzzling to me though.Love your top 10's. Now since you did one for Co-ops, do a new one for worker placement games, since I'm sure there are a bunch that has climbed you charts. Thanks again for what you do.
@stringplayer9998 жыл бұрын
I live in a place where the board game community and amount of boardgamers usually leads to people buying a lot of board games and only playing each one a few times. When there is a legacy game it usually keeps people motivated to keep playing and you end up playing the game more than your non-legacy games...it depends on if its a good value to you though, if you split the cost of a legacy game with your group then the value for money is pretty good, imo

So, Sam...we have to talk. According to your taste and that you start liking Zombicide I think it is time to go for the next step and that you check out Galaxy Defenders and Shadows of Brimstone and here are the reasons why. :) Galaxy Defenders: a) It offers a story-rich dynamic campaign experience (one story text beats the whole Imperial Assault story). b) It forces tactical decisions and discussions. c) It comes with very distinct character roles and strong development. You will cry when your 15h character dies. d) You can adjust the game to your own complexity level with the optional rules in the rulebook. You want Human View that it matters how to rotate your figure? You can. You want permadeath? There you have it. You want the High Impact rule that combat gets more burtal? There you go. According to the tactical choices and events in Imperial Assault, Galaxy Defenders goes the next step. Shadows of Brimstone: a) You love the "dungeon crawl" Descent 2.0? In Brimstone you will fear the next unknown corner especially in the beginning of the campaign. b) Shadows is dripping with theme. Mutations, encounters, travel hazards, town events, epic boss battles. That what in Descent 2.0 or Imperial Assault might be the final mission here you can have it in every mission. c) Is it Permadeath you are looking for? Here you go. d) Character development is what you like? Choose your tech tree options wisely. So all in all I think you will like these games very much and I could imagine that you will stop playing Descent 2.0 and even Imperial Assault (even if it is Star Wars). Grab these games, meet up with Rob, paint and assemble the figures (in Brimstone) and you will have hours of coop-heaven fun. I promise. My top 10 cooperative games: 1.) Shadows of Brimstone 2.) Galaxy Defenders 3.) Arkham Horror 4.) Machina Arcana 5.) Alien Uprising 6.) Fortune & Glory 7.) Eldritch Horror 8.) Project: Elite 9.) Robinson Crusoe 10.) Fireteam: Zero Short list: Zombicide Black Plague, Defenders of the realm, Gears of war, Legendary ALIEN.

Just curious Tom....my gaming group is a huge fan of T.I.M.E Stories, yet my ONLY complaint with the game is the resetting of time and going all Groundhog Day. For me it takes away from the game. My friends disagree. My question is, have you tried one of the modules while eliminating the reset tactic and played it more as a "dog-eared choose your own adventure book"? I have read a lot of conversations on BGG about playing it this way and am curious of your opinion as I am hoping to see the Prophesy of Dragons module by the end of the month.

I know I'm trading into treacherous waters here, but I'm going to give a shoutout to DC Deckbuilder in Crisis mode. The variety of crisis/supervillain combos gives it great replayability (not to mention all the different superheroes you can play). And there's a whole sub-game in crafting a thematic or challenging main deck, which comes with an easy challenge throttle simply by increasing or decreasing the number of cards. I will also challenge the common critique that it's not thematic, but that's for another day.

Two things; 1. I totally expected Sentinel of the Multiverse on Tom's list! 2. Tom's finally admitting DOTR graphic design is awful. Being a web/graphic designer, I totally agree (comic sans ARGH!!@#@). And although I looooooove, and have a passion for, good graphic design (and drawing/paint art), if the game is THAT good and immerseful, you hardly notice the design 5 min's in the game. DOTR can be a pain searching for the names of the spots, but I enjoy the board itself as much as, lets say, Legends of Andor. Which has a beautiful (!) board. Can't wait for that top 10 boardg... , i mean, gameboard designs! BTW LOA and DOTR are both in my top 10 of all time! Sentinels sometimes is too much accounting... Own all three games though :)

I'm not usually a fan of Dungeon Crawler type games, but I've played Black Plague and it's a good time.

Sam: Dead of Winter. I agree with you. But the argument. I think you're missing it. The argument is that if you know your objective can not be completed. You might tank the game. Tom hinted at it with "If I lose my personal objective but everyone wins I'm still happy". Other people (bad people I'll say) don't feel that way and it's THIS aspect that might get people to say the game is "not cooperative". Even though the game OPENS cooperatively once you know you're losing that can go wonky. In my opinion this doesn't detract from the overall in general cooperative nature of the game anymore than BSG. I think if you consider BSG a co-op then there's zero argument to consider DoW not a co-op. Anyway great video DT. Seeya next time.

Great lists again, not sure why none of you like G.D. but *shrugs* Mine would go: 1. Descent 2nd edition w/road to legend 2. Legendary 3. Galaxy Defenders 4. Elder Sign 5. Eldritch Horror I wanted to include MageKnight, in my opinion, one of the best games I own yet I was told that doesn't count because it's just a mode and to make it compelling you really do need the first expansion, although I think as long as you play it the way Tom plays Legendary the co-op take the cities thing is great!

No Death Angel or the D&D boardgames? hmm.

Dead of Winter: fairly high on my to play list. I want to try it! Even though I am not a zombie fan, but am told the zombie theme is not forefront. Shadows over Camelot: It took 3 plays for me to get an opinion, and took awhile to get those plays in. But finally decided I am not a fan. 90% of the time or more, I can get a feel of a game, in how I like it in 1 play, and often 1/3 of the way through the first game. This was an exception. I may sell my copy. Legendary: Marvel - The idea of a deck builder game does not interest me, however, Superheroes do, especially Marvel. But I barely liked it. It was on my top 100 for awhile but has been pushed off. Just not a deck builder fan. Atlantis Rising: I been looking for this game soon after watching Zee promote it, and yes, it's rare and expensive. Not sure if I will like it, but looks promising enough for me to try, if I ever get my hands on it. TIME Stories: I want to get this, highly! Defenders of the Realm: I regretted buying this and sold it off, even though my son liked it. I love fantasy games, but this was just too puzzly for me, and not similar to other fantasy games I like. Interestingly, I just went through my Top 100 games, and found I have very few co-ops on it. My top co-ops: 1. Dungeons and Dragons Adventure System Board Games (#14 overall) 2. Forbidden Desert (#60 over all) 3. Star Trek: Five-Year Mission (#61 over all and needs more plays) 4. Lord of the Rings (#64 overall, and needs plays, as I haven't played it much in years) 5. Betrayal at House on the Hill (#67 overall) 6. Dead Men Tell No Tales (#72 overall) You see I go from #14 over all to #60 over all, so I haven't been impressed with co-ops. I don`t have any other co-ops in my top 100, Shadows over Camelot is technically my #102 over all right now. 102 isn't bad, but obviously isn't a great game in my mind, btw I have only played about 300 games (guess). I think Dead of Winter will rate highly, I haven't played it, I would guess it may make my top 25 over all and thus high on my co-op. Also guessing Atlantis Rising might be in my top 50. I also think Time Stories will be great, I love story telling and role playing, it should be a hit. Probably a top 15 over all.

+Doma Agape Unless you speak French, be very careful of any copies you might find for Atlantis Rising. It's in print in France. If a relatively inexpensive copy makes an appearance on say Amazon, it's probably in French. A friend of mine was really happy when he found it, but it's in French. There's nothing on the cover to distinguish it, either. After he got it, my friend went through the reviews and found a few people that had bought it and were disappointed when it arrived.

wahou, there are some forgotten games in my opinion! hanabi is a fantastic short coop game you can play having a pint in a pub! it works well with "non players". a second one which is amazing is Sherlock Holmes détective conseil in french (i don't know the US title) in which one you have to solve an investigation using news papers, a map of london and your logics, this is like books in which one you are the hero. and for me another one which has its place in this top 10 is Mice and mystics!!! bref peut être que cela vient de mon regard français ! well, may be due to my french vision.

I'm looking forward to a one versus all top 10, but maybe that would ve hard for Zee to even choose 10 games?
