Back when I was in college I wouldn't drink during house parties. One time, as I dealt with drunk friends, and was a bit exhausted, my roommate came over to me. Drunkenly, he said, "You're the Space Lion, making sure all the stars are in the right places." As if I didn't love this song already, that has stuck with me for 18 years.

I agree. Call me call me is just a deep cut that stirs the soul with the way its arranged and the way its played... the lyrics are just a straight punch that just seems to reach into your inner core, along with the imagery that they show with it just grabs you, it changes you for that brief moment. It's a great cut. Such great music. There's nothing else that has a great soundtrack like Cowboy Bebop. It's just pure to listen to it. Spooky Dooky is my personal favorite. It's another one that you feel. It seems to wrap itself into your very soul. Thank you for posting this list. Also a big hug and thank you for Yoko Kano, for some of the greatest music ever. Interesting choices. Mine would go something like... 10. Chicken Bone (just for the weirdness and the catchy beat) 9. Waltz for Zizi (accompanies several important scenes, I like it best with Jet and Elise's story) 8. Bad Dog No Biscuits (watch the Seatbelts play this live and tell me they're not having a blast) 7. Tank! (Obvious inclusion) 6. Don't Bother None (Love the blues steel guitar and Mai's vocals on this one) 5. Autumn in Ganymede (that bass line is SICK, perfect song for lounging on a Ganymede beach) 4. Green Bird (all the feels) 3. Gotta Knock a Little Harder (epic gospel-esque finisher for the movie, awesome guitars too) 2. Call Me Call Me (even without the visuals this is such an emotionally charged song vocally by Conte and musically, love the strings towards the end) 1. The Real Folk Blues (the epitome of Bebop to me, that's why it's the closer for 25 episodes) Honorable mentions: Felt Tip Pen, What Planet Is This?, The Real Man, Slipper Sleaze, Diggin' (from the movie)

You know my father was available just at night time...and in the evenings he used to help me to learn how to ride my bike, at that time he teached me how to count, the months (a realiable way to know if one month have 30 or 31days with my hands), and how to navigate the stars...I was so in love with the night´s sky, with it´s colors...now I´m an adult, and I just can write about the stars and space...ahh yeahh time and space too...sometimes in my garden I just feel like that little girl looking at the stars, just feeling their light...now I´m listening to this playlist...and Space Lion took me by surprise...just when I´m cracking my mind looking for ideas...and found it...the star that I needed to chase, now I just have to find how to navigate to it...maybe another playlist? hahahah Thanks so much for this, here is my favs "Call me Call me" "The Real Folk Blues" and "Space Lion"

Very very few TV shows, movies, or games evoke a mood as melancholic and strong that Cowboy Bebop does while also being incredibly fun and likable. If you think anime is dorky, which I definitely get because I only like a handful, don't let that keep you from watching this show. It's amazing. The English dub is so good that it feels like the show was originally made in English. To be honest, episodes 2 and 4 might be safe to skip. They're cheesy and not too good; nor are they that important to the plot or character development in my opinion. I think they'd only be barriers to entry.
@CrystallineWyvern6 жыл бұрын
I agree with everything here (esp on the dub, and the inimical and potent, melancholic and existentialist, yet breezy mood it exudes) except that episodes 2 and 4 are "not good". I agree those are definitely two of the weakest episodes - though I'd say Boogie Woogie Feng Shui is still worse - but if you love Cowboy Bebop even these episodes are precious treasures. What episodes were your favorites?
@jgalla55496 жыл бұрын
I mentioned those 2 episodes because I don't really like the one with Ein that much, and because my friend (who I think was overly cynical) stopped at ep. 2 because it was kind of cheesy. I certainly don't hate ep. 2 and 4, I just can see that having 2 weaker episodes in the beginning of a series might stop a decent amount of people from getting to the amazing stuff. My favorite episodes are Waltz for Venus, Jupiter Jazz parts 1 and 2, Ganymede Elegy, Sympathy for the Devil, Black Dog Serenade, Hard Luck Woman (just for the ending), and the 2 part finale.
@CrystallineWyvern6 жыл бұрын
Fair enough. And those are damn good choices for your top episodes. Waltz for Venus I think is underrated and in many ways the paradigmatic episode of the series; so balanced. For me I would add Ballad of Fallen Angels (the whole cathedral sequence and especially the flashback interspersed with Spike's slo-mo fall through the stained glass window is utterly iconic), Toys in the Attic (flawless balance of suspense and comedy with a quirky, playful aspect that gives it an element of being outside time), and Brain Scratch (the most heady and mysterious episode, with bonus meta commentary). The only one of those you mentioned I'm not a huge fan of is Sympathy for the Devil, which I think has elements (the beginning and end, mainly) that approach some of the best moments of the show, with thick atmosphere, but didn't really cohere as a 24 minute episode for me for some reason. And Jupiter Jazz part 2 is sublime, one of anime's pinnacles.
@jgalla55496 жыл бұрын
Yeah I guess I just missed Ballad of Fallen Angels when I skimmed over the episode list. I definitely would have been mentioned that.

Antonio Ruiz I had this video in my liked ones but had never listened to in in full, so get this, I fall alseep with my headphones and have liked videos playing as I sleep, I dream I'm at work doing my thing, I have my ear buds in the dream and I can't stop tapping my foot I look at my coworkers and think oh man listen to this awesome new song I found, (it was the end of real folk blues, I could kind of hear it in my dream) then I literally hear space lion playing in my dream loud and clear, coworkers are working while I'm just standing there looking at the distance dumbfounded by how amazing this music is I had never ever heard, like, how is this on my phone?? Then I wake up and ralize oooooh I see what's going on :DD

Back when anime was an art form. Before it was relegated to choppy animation, the same old tropes, high pitched girls screaming "daijoubu desu ka?" and angsty boys screaming "yamero!". I love this anime. It's creators did a wonderful job pleasing both the eyes and the ears without lending too much to one side or the other. A real audiovisual treat. No other anime can send on a trip back down nostalgia lane like this one and other anime has a sound track that can hit you so deeply in your soul.

I thought I'd go the entire list without goosebumps, then I hear Rain. Well at least there were no tears... The Real Folk Blues plays... thank you.

@@inventaunmanana4860 You are correct, however since it's going to typed in decimal form that only wastes the short amount of time we have left.
