Like many people here, I think the Zombie one was the worst. The terrible thing is that they aren't mindless, they have an irresistible hunger that plagues them as they attack and eat their friends and family. At first they have hope because of this, but they eventually succumb to the fact they are all monsters now. They tried their best but there is absolutely no cure, and the full story has them relive the events over and over in a contained but infinite loop.

No lie, Marvel Zombies gave me nightmares when I first read it. I thought it would be some kind of light-hearted zombie virus.... boy, was I wrong. The sight of seeing the undead Avengers eating whorever they could find sticks with me to this day. Hell, I think Zombie Spider-Man is the scariest of them all, I just don't know why.

Healing factors stop the infection from taking over immediately but eventually fail when they become zombified. Once zombies the healing factor is non existant and basically the story it's a neverending paradox.

What about Buller Points? When Erskin gets assassinated before even finishing the super soldier serum, it causes a domino effect that chances everything; Peter Parker turns into the Hulk, Steve Rogers ends up as a Frankenstein esque version of Ironman, Bruce Banner becomes Spider-Man, etc. It's basically the Marvel version of Flashpoint.

How is Marvel Zombies not number 1? Think about it, the world's heroes that represent the best of us becoming flesh eating rotting corpses that eat ALL flesh with no discrimination. That includes infant animals, and human babies. Think about the for a second. Hell, the ate the world, so imagine Spiderman vein swinging, yes VEIN swinging, his way into a hospital, and tearing beautiful new born babies to shreds as cry out helplessly in pain and sheer terror before dying and being reduced to food that is digested inside the belly of a festering cadaver.

There are plenty of alternate timelines listed here with world domination, dictatorship, planetary mass extinction, genocide, nuclear holocaust, and the loss of countless beloved heroes and there down fall but only one is truly the DARKEST Marvel Alternate Timeline. Marvel Zombies is much more than just a zombie horror romp. The infection that spread through this universe not only killed, reanimate the hosts with an uncomprehending need to consume living flesh but also left them completely sentient with all there personalities, memories, and self awareness. That alone makes this the darkest, imagine being a hero being bitten and then knowingly and willingly devour another living person, someone you care for, your own child even...with them begging and screaming for you to stop as you literally eat them alive to no avail. Your entire soul, your every thought is consumed with making the pain, the hunger, go away and you would do anything to just stop it. The worst part is after committing the atrocities to sate their hunger, the hunger abides leaving them no longer driven by it for a few short hours faced with the unimaginable guilt at what they did...plus the virus makes them practically immortal so they're faced with there sins forever. We have the fall of every hero and villain on the planet (other than the last few), there corruption, inhuman action, and the extinction of the all life in the universe.

Yep, they even talk about that in the story. He gets a little Goofy but gets it ripped out by Zombie Red Skull later and as the body was okay it's reused to house someone in the second or third story. What About the Cannibal Verse. Where instead of becoming Zombies, the Marvel population just devolves into savages with Punisher and Wolverine being the last normal people on the planet. Wolverine is forced to kill the X-Men and everything, and this time, he knows he's doing it and is still forced to do it. It's sad and almost more screwed up than the Zombie-verse.

Doctor Doom is a badass in the zombie universe. Spoiler: He is bit and is able to hold off the infection by his will power alone. And there was a crossover with the Ultimate Avengers in which a younger Doom from that Universe crosses over into the marvel zombie universe, but is probably more powerful than that universe's version of himself since he knows atlatean magic at this point.

Wolverine: Lord of Vampires Dracula turns all the X-Men into vampire slaves but Wolverine was too strong and drank his blood, making him the new Lord of Vampires. The X-Men become HIS slaves and they wreak havoc. They kill Dr. Strange, who then tracks down The Punisher in his astral form and possesses him. He's pretty much just The Punisher except he can wield Dr. Strange's magic, as well. Also, he has the cape lol Since it was a "What If...." scenario, it had an ending where Wolverine wins and an ending where The Punisher wins.

"Future Imperfect" does have a happy ending...the present-day Hulk manages to defeat the Maestro (his possible future self) by killing him with the one thing even he can't survive....the gamma bomb that turned him into the Hulk in the first place.
