Also I remember an episode where the decepticon jets were getting drunk off energon cubes.

This is a very good list, but here are a couple that deserved at least an honorable mention: Dallas: It started in the 70's, but really took off in 1980 with the "Who Shot JR" storyline. It was an incredibly glamorous mix of sex, politics and business--along with plenty of ruthless characters, and an interesting cliffhanger for just about every season (although not always an interesting resolution). It petered out by the end of the decade with the departures of just about every major character, but nonetheless its impact is hard to be denied. Moonlighting: This show was lightning in a bottle for the first two and a half seasons, but petered out near the end due to cast conflicts, mediocre storylines and a writer strike. However, in its prime, it was untouchable, and pretty much defined the term "dramady." Plus, it really took breaking the fourth wall to a hilarious level (even if that in and of itself became a major crutch in its last two seasons).

In talking about "The A Team," the narrator says "We pity the fool who didn't see this show." That remark may have sounded cute, but it repeats a common misconception: the idea that the catchphrase "I pity the fool" was always uttered on the show by the character B.A. Baracus (played by Mr. T). Untrue! Mr. T only said this pharse one time, and it wasn't on "The A Team." It was when he played boxer Clubber Lang in the movie "Rocky 3" starring Sylvester Stallone. I believe it was Eddie Murphy who perpetuated the notion of the line being used on "The A Team" when he started parodying Mr. T on "Saturday Night Live," because, in imitating the actor, he would sometimes say things like "This is Mr. T! I pity the fool who don't watch "The A Team." It's like when "The Brady Bunch" is spoofed and someone imitates Jan Brady saying "It's always 'Marcia, Marcia, Marcia' " (referring to her supposedly more popular older sister), thus giving the impression that Jan made this statement all the time when, in fact, she only said it once, in the episode "In My Sister's Shadow."

Not even an honourable mention for He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe?! It was hugely popular, and also very much a product of the 80s. The first ever cartoon based on a toyline, which paved the way for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Thundercats, Transformers, and GI Joe, to name just a few.

Problem with those top10s, they are only about US... In France, Cheers is almost unknown (i'm not even sure it was aired here), American talk shows also aren't aired here. So those top10s Never correspond to our points of view. I would have put Married with children or Cosby Show way higher because they were far more popular here ! Also in France McGuyver would certainly be first... (people don't kniw Richard Dean Anderson, Everyone calls him McGuyver, that's how it is popular around here)

It's not about it being from US..It's about the most globally known forms of entertainment..When it comes to TV shows,US leads the way followed by Britain(in terms of global popularity)..Old school rock and roll is dominated by UK followed by US..Newer forms of music is a bit more divided..Hollywood is the most dominant force in terms of movies..So obviously,they look at global popularity as the main factor..And English is the global language of the world..Sometime non-english movies like Oldboy make the lists because of their popularity worldwide..This is coming from someone who lives in Saudi Arabia who knows most of these shows(including Cheers) but very few from non-English forms of entertainment(excluding Animes)

I assume the majority of the channel, video, votes, and most other things are based off of American things rather than international.

MacGyver is still the best 80's show and greatest show ever made in my opinion and i grew up with it :) . They sure don't make adventure/action shows entertaining like MacGyver anymore these days . He used his mind to solve problems instead of using a gun, because he hates guns.

Wonder Years was so cute and charming, Golden Girls was so cool and clever but my favorite out of this list is definitely The Cosby Show, as it was so damn refreshing to see a really positive depiction of a black family on TV. I grew up in the type of family depicted in this show, and will forever be grateful to Dr. Cosby for bringing this to life.

@not-so-smartaleck89875 жыл бұрын
The 3 sitcoms you mentioned were pretty mediocre, IMHO. Maybe if you were still a kid when Facts of Life was on, it probably seemed like one of the better shows(?) Dramas like Cagney and Lacey should be ranked separately from sitcoms, I think.
