Best right back in women's football. Notice that most of the clips of her were within a few meters of the opponent's goal line? She's an extra attacking wing with the motor to cover on defense as well. Super fit and fast. And only 20 years old? Really looking forward to seeing the Matildas back together under the new coaching regime and all that European experience.

With the exception of Lucy Bronze who clearly is the number one, I would have most of the players listed as top 10 to 5 in my top five. Really fast tricky wingers like Dhiani or Delphin Castcarino of France will eat defenders like Leah Williamson for breakfast so I would never put her ahead of Ellie Carpenter who is a younger version of Lucy Bronze. And Crystal Dunn is top 5 easily.

Wendie Renard is not a better defender than Lucy Bronze as clear shown in this video. She does not have the footballing ability that Lucy Bronze has. Wendy Renard is only as effective as she is because she's so much taller then everyone else. She's good in the air and can make good tackles with her long legs but she does not have a great first or second touch. Without the advantages that come with being so much taller then everyone else she probably would not make it into the Top 10. Or, to put it another way, if she was Lucy bronze height (5 ft 8 and not 6 ft 2) she wouldn't be Lucy bronze equal.

@@beyondthepage9389 There are important criteria in the defensive position such as the marking, rank. When we consider that, Sara Doorsoun and Wendie Renard are better than Lucy Bronze. Lucy Bronze isn't bad, but she's a right-back. Sara and Wendie are stpoers. They know this job better than Lucy Bronze. Lucy Bronze is better off attack, Sara and Wendie are better off defense.

@@denizpailer4813 I hear you Deniz but I think you will find that Lucy Bronze is the popular choice as the best defender in the world for the all the reasons I expressed. I'll talking raw natural ability, confidence on the ball etc. the same reason why Messi usually come out a head of Christian Renaldo in the popular vote. There is a very strong case for Christian Renaldo but naturally ability and efficiency on the ball is what will always give Messi the edge, certainly in the eye of critics and the caught of public opinion.
