Smith has been killing it. Love the quick attacker mindset. And kudos to having teammates still there in the box to cleanup if needed. The movement and passing including crosses have been very good. I don't see the same movement and creativity from the men's team, but that's another story for another day...

Then you haven't been watching the men's team play. What exactly made you think that this video, in any way, invited some hack criticism of the men's team? Are you one of those "fans" that can't praise one thing without crapping on another?

Hatch wasn't offside. Pugh was offside before the ball got to Hatch. even though Pugh didn't touch the ball she affected play and therefore is offside.
@Calypso-02 жыл бұрын
Definitely wasn't
@dstew2xx2 жыл бұрын
@@brandonswan9247 That is a judgement call and Pugh didn't affect the play at all. She wasn't obstructing the keeper or her view at all. She was already outside the posts by the time Hatch received the ball and made her play. That was just a bad call.
@greggoodman43352 жыл бұрын
@@dstew2xx It was the correct call, Pugh was offsides, pursued the cross, may well have made contact but at the very least affected the defense, leading that ball to make its way to Hatch. It was backed up by VAR on top of that.
@dstew2xx2 жыл бұрын
@@greggoodman4335 That was a judgement call and therefore not up for VAR review. Hatch was clearly in onside and onside position so a VAR review was not needed. The AR put her flag up several seconds after the goal when she saw Sanchez (I reviewed it several times. It was Sanchez not Pugh) in an offside position. The rule says when an attacker is in an offside position but is not involved in the play then it becomes a judgement call as to whether that attacking player obstructed the keeper from seeing the ball or the player that scored - or if the attakcer interfered with the defenders. Clearly Sanchez made her run and peeled off. She was outside the frame of the goal and made no attempt to engage in the play nor did she obstruct the keeper or another player. It was a judgement call by the AR and a bad one. That was a goal. Subjective call but in this case I believe the AR got it wrong.

I agree but things appear to be getting better in 2023. MR is gone off of the line up for the 2023 world cup. Hatch is still in the line up and is a nice mormon girl. Sophia Smith just plays soccer and is great to watch. Alexi Lalas was just complaining about their new uniforms; doesn't think they're patriotic enough. Might be so but I don't think the team's admin is pushing so much of the political garbage these days. Looking forward to the world cup.
