I think another big difference between the book and the movie was they almost completely cut out Peter and Kitty's relationship. Its one of the reasons I fell so hard for him in the book. When he shows up in that mini van I die every time.

Peter's car was totally left out. In the books, Peter has a black Audi and sometimes drove his mom's minivan but instead, he has a jeep. Also, it was so cute in the books where Peter and Lara Jean went to go get furniture for Peter's mom. So many little details I wish they would've added.

They couldn't do the Spider-Man costume scene because of copyrights to the MCU character. They couldn't get the rights to even do a costume version of Spider-Man, so it was forced to be left out. Jenny Han even said she wanted the scene done and was disappointed it couldn't because of legal reasons.

Corrections: 9.) Peter did admit in P.S. I Still Love You that he was waiting for Jen in the hot tub. However, Lara Jean just rationalized the whole thing by telling herself that it was fate that she went there and so they ended up together. 8.) There's a reason Lara Jean and Josh are ship-able in the books. Josh was a huge part of Lara Jean's family. He also admitted that he did have feelings for Lara Jean before he fell in love with her sister. 5.) The hand in the back pocket was actually PETER'S IDEA in the book! Also, Lara Jean is known for her baked goods. Dunno why they cut that out. Lastly, Kitty did admit at the latter part of the book that she sent the letters and why she sent them.

For me, the best change they made was Kitty's motivation for mailing the letters. Her book counterpart is only around 8 or 9, and was acting out of revenge for Lara Jean almost spilling Kitty's secret crush on Josh. This change made her seem more sympathetic, as she was clearly only trying to help her sister get a social life, and cemented the close bond all the sisters shared. It's also worth noting that while it's made fairly obvious in the movie that Kitty was behind it, in the book we don't find out until midway through, along with Lara Jean.💌

Well, the fact that they decided to show John Ambrose McClarence at the end was a major change for me. During the movie, Peter and Lara never talked about John Ambrose, as in the book. In the book, LJ confesses she had a crush on John and Peter is shocked as they were elementary school friends. But in the movie, she just said "a kid from the UN youth -something-". And suddenly he appeared at the end at LJ's door with the letter. That didn't happen. All the action with John happens in book 2. And he doesn't even appear at her door like that. He just answered the letter and they were mail friends for a while.

He doesn't appear at her door with flowers.

Anyways, she has to be in movie 2. Like...she's John's granny and she plays a major part in book 2 as she gives her lots of counsel. It doesn't make sense for her not to appear in the story. If they decide her not to appear the whole plot would change majorly. She's important indeed.

I saw the movie before i read the books and the biggest difference I found was Peter K. To me, i liked way more the Peter from the movie than the books, except certain times. I think he is more into LJ in the movies, i was constantly getting mad at him bc of his relationship with Jen. Some scenes (the hug one) doesnt have sense to me. The Peter from the movies is way more sincere with LJ and he seems to like her and figths for her. In the books he put Jen before LJ a lot of times.

When she kisses him for first time in front of josh, it actually says that he is surprised and kisses her back. In the movie he wants the fake relationship to make gen jealous while in book it’s more about him breaking away from her. And proving she does not own him like if he’s an object

I don't think Josh will kiss LJ in the sequel because (spoiler alert) he already have a girl friend. He kissed her before Margot comes back from Scotland. When he's starting to believe that Peter and LJ's relationship is true. He said he's not used in sharing the Song girls. Kitty was so attached to Petter. He played a BIG role in the book 1 but he played a little in the movie. LJ's dad was kinda disappointed when he learned about the hot tub scene. It was Margot and Kitty who drove LJ to the bus that's going in the ski trip and not her dad. Cris went on the ski trip because LJ asked her. In the movie she said it was Peter who asked her. Josh and Peter had a confrontation inside the house. Something happened with Josh and Margot, Josh thought it was the reason why Margot broke up with him. LJ accidentally knew about it. Margot was so mad with her and did not talk to her for few days or weeks? But the make up scene was so heartwarming. Sisters 💖 Kitty's confession about the letters was also different. LJ was mad but Kitty's crying so hard but LJ couldn't be so cruel to her. She then gave her the box with Peter's letters for LJ inside. Cris is totally different from the book. She's a problematic child and she doesn't like Margot but that doesn't mean LJ's just faking her friendship with Cris. In addition to Peter and LJ's first kiss in 7th grade. It's true that they kissed in 7th grade but they kissed inside Gen's house(when they think no one is around because they're the only ones left who are yet to be picked up) while waiting for their parents to pick them up. Peter said he likes the smell of coconut in her fingers. (Gen saw it, in the sequel during their confrontation she said after that kiss she don't see LJ as her friend anymore.) The one LJ kissed while playing spin the bottle is John. Kitty is so much younger in the book.

#1 The Book Ends on a Cliffhanger YES THAT'S RIGHT. When I finished the book I was like "What the- WHAT A CLIFFHANGER". Plus, in the spin the bottle game, it was John Ambrose McClaren who got to kiss Lara Jean, not Peter.

honestly my favorite parts in the book were all the little things, like the halloween school day and when Peter and Lara Jean get his mom's furniture at the yard sale. I was so bummed that they left that all out, but I still love the movie!!

You got no.2 wrong though, Peters reason for agreeing to fake-date her was the same in the movies as in the books. To make Gen jealous as well. Even though Lara G uncovered a deeper reason later, it was still his intent. He was far from over her in the books. They got that part right...they got a lot right actually

what about the necklace's heart? To my is a huge important details. In the movie, LJ has it since the begining of it but in the book is a gift from PK. She loves this necklace from the Peter's mom store of antiques. But this happen in the second book.

There was so much flip flopping between who said or suggested what. I’d love to know why they changed so much. In the book Peter suggests things, where in the movie it’s Lara. Such as the back pocket in the first one, and him wanting the locket back in the second one.
