Regarding the Suunto, when I bought my HR monitor the dealer said their rating is for actual depth, so you are right. Their 50M waterproof rating is supposed to be good for diving to actually 50M for example.

I think if I didn't have a lot of normal (boring?) every day watches I would have gone for the black or green one. But the times when I'd need something as rugged as a G-Shock I think the color doesn't really matter so much, and I really love the yellow and black scheme.

Great selection (just came across your channel, but have subscribed and really appreciate your insights). I have the CasioOak and I completely agree with your assessment- it's my watch of choice at the moment and is getting a lot of wrist time. Having said that, the 5600 G-Shock is all the watch you'll ever really need.

The full metal SKMEI 1456 at under £10 on eBay really is a great watch for the money. I bought one out of curiosity when a couple of reviewers had it on. Really surprised at the value Vs function and comfort. Yes it's a ripoff if the G-Shock and to be honest part of the reason I bought it was to see if I would like a G-shock , I did and have bought two dw5600s since then , the stealth all black version and the stealth and blue faced Bluetooth version. Would recommend for a beater and work watch.

David Wilson I too have the skmei 1456 in blue and love it! I wanted to see if I’d like wearing the full metal G-Shock but for now see no reason to spend the money in a full metal G-Shock I’ll just buy a cpl more 1456 for now!!

As you have mentioned, the list of digital watches could get very long. I would put in the list Timex TW4B02500 Expedition. Interesting digital watch that has several interesting features: 1) vibrating alarm; 2) very loud beeping alarm (compared to casios) - which is really usable to wake you up; 3) hydration alarm; 4) you can disable visualization of specific function if you do not use it - this simplifies cycling between the different modes of the watch and makes the available functions less cluttered. Your list was (and still is) set very well. Thank you.

For me, for a g square, it doesn't get better than the gw-b5600. Best price vs features. It's a fully loaded square, it has the module that's in the really expensive metal squares. Personally, I don't want a metal square before getting a rubber square. What a fantastic watch. Mod it for a positive display if you like, or get one of the two positive displays. I got the hr version. It's all black with the red text and red details on the inside of the combi bracelet. The comfort is insane on the bracelet style gshock... bracelet. What a wonderful balance.

SUUNTO Core is a great watch... picked mine up when they were $110, now down to $99 on jomashop. And up until about a week or so ago they were on sale for $89.99 on jomashop. Crazy. This watch wears smaller than you’d think, is INCREDIBLY strong and light, comfortable, and the features it offers for the price, well - it’s pretty amazing. You won’t regret it. There’s a reason a lot of spec-ops guys wear these... (at least SEALS and KSK). If mine ever taps out, I’m replacing it with the same model immediately.

Hello from Eastern Europe. Shortly after watching your video I've realized that the YELLOW casiOak will be sold out soon. So, I've snaged one from eBay (Italy) at 109€ + shipping. Was the lowest I found within Europe. Ordering from Japan can be tempting, BUT European VAT & custom taxes are a real deal breaker. I hope I've made the RIGHT choice. For a long time i was looking for a yellow Casio. The digital DW-5600TW-1ER was my first choice, BUT i wanted something analog. So that narrowed the searches to this new CasiOak 💛

Negative LCDs are the worst one can get. Grey plastic index markers Without any lume are equally useless. Same goes for LEDs that illuminate about 20% of the dial.

Great vid. I've watched a few and all good but I have to question your concern with watches rated for 30 meters of water resistance. 30 meters is just over 100 feet. What swimming pool is that derp? Recreational snorkeling is typical at 20 feet and recreational scuba diving is rated to max of 130 ft and most of the time divers are not even close to that. There is nothing wrong with a watch rated to 33 meters for daily use, swimming pools, showers, car washing etc.

Hi Dave...Love your channel and I am especially happy that you made this video on Digital watches and even MORE happy it was not 100% G-Shock! I love my G Shocks as much as the next guy, but there is a whole world of digital watches out there. You had one Nixon on there which is great, but If I could you suggest the Nixon Regulas. Retails for $150 but there is a lot of sales, that you could grab it at around $125... Very tough, Very Cool and not a G Shock!... Keep up the good work and I love to watch your channel grow !

The Casio protrek that you mentioned can be had for $75 on Amazon brand new if you like the orange camo color. I've had mine for four years now and love everything except the comfort. It kind of digs into your wrist depending on how you wear it.

Armitron is widely neglected by watch reviewers for some reason. They offer several different digital models to fit nearly any tastes. There are also several analogue models. Most of their offerings are quartz. I'm aware of a few budget mechanical Armitrons, too. I've had Armitron watches off and on during the past few decades and have never been disappointed with their build quality.
