"New Coke" and the resulting "Coke Classic" was a smoke screen for the replacement of cane sugar with HFCS. I still remember going to grandma's house and going to the basement and drinking "Fresca" with the inverted-hobnail-dents in the glass bottle with steel cap. As much as I love Babble Top, it still creeps me out that this host/narrator can't pronounce a "t" sound when it's in the middle of a word. She makes it a glottal stop. "Mountain Dew" becomes "Moun:un dew". Are you "cer:un" (certain) this is the way to pronounce words? She generally has a beautiful voice, but that "t" sound in the middle of a word replaced by a glottal stop is a little creepy I absolutely love Babble Top and I'm not being nasty here in any way. But that narrator digs into me every time when pronouncing words weirdly. If she can't figure it out, I will happily be your host or narrator. Take care, Babble Top and all viewers!!!!

I remember Bubble Up. I'm only 59. 🙂 Cactus Cooler is/was awesome. Mountain Dew ICE was good. (Basically caffeinated Sprite; flashed briefly on screen during Pepsi Ice/Pepsi Fire.) Really miss Apple Beer. Nonalcoholic, but really delicious. And Jolt Cola. All the sugar and twice the caffeine.

I remember when Crystal Pepsi was re-released for a limited time a few years ago. It tasted sweeter than regular Pepsi. I don't know if this one was discontinued, but I can't find Cherry Vanilla Pepsi anymore 😭. It's my favorite drink

Some of these sodas I never heard about them. Well, I moved to Canada in 1998 but my country of birth is Mexico, hence, we never had Lifesavers Soda, Bubble Up and Tab back home. Maybe you could get them in the North, border with the USA, but during the 80's I was living in Mexico City and moved to Veracruz later on. I wish I tried any of them though. However, Pesicola is and forever will be my favourite soda.

Coca Cola Lime + Rum = Cuba Libre. Bubble Up is delicious. I can find it at Bev Mo and Cost Plus in a glass bottle no less. The best way to drink a soda. Cactus Cooler has been available at Ralphs for years. I have some in my fridge right now. I liked Crystal Pepsi for some reason. They brought it back for a little while at Ralphs market.

Out of all those discontinued sodas I was a fan of the Vanilla Pepsi but Coca-Cola does a good job with mixing vanilla in some of their drinks but the Pepsi ice was better than the Pepsi fire the one with coffee in it that was good but I prefer making coffee at home

BTW - Mountain Dew heavily promoted their Mt. Dew Zero (sugar) using Bryan Cranston to do the advertising. The fact of the matter, however, is that Diet Mt. Dew tasted far superior, as close to regular Mt. Dew.

So true on missing favorite drink's, Still miss the fountain blend of Dew at Arby's. Remember very well Life Savers and Jolly Ranchers Soda. Bet that Catcus one was great, love orange pineapple. I know why there were clear sodas. Food coloring was being exposed as dangerous so they left it out. The taste was indistinguishable. I've participated in blindfolded taste test among Pepsi, Crystal Pepsi, brown Coke, and (personal fave) RC Cola. The pair was obvious. Like they poured both Pepsi glasses from the same bottle. And a lot of people quit soda not because of clearness but from revulsion over cancer causing dyes and how much sugar was in it.
