Found the animatronic Dinosaur B Mode very interesting. Whenever we ride this ride, we always look the opposite way of the main Carnotaurus on purpose as a joke for the picture because everyone else in the car is always looking the right way. Little did we know there was another Carnotaurus we were looking at there the whole time! 🦖

I went to Disney World last year and was pleasantly surprised to find all these animatronics working perfectly! The only malfunction I saw was on Little Mermaid in MK, during the "under the sea" sequence, one of Ariel's eyes wasn't moving, so she was completely cross-eyed at one point. I really wish I got a video of it!

There's been a few times we've seen B modes. The Kylo animatronic was down for like... a solid month so we saw B mode Kylo several times. We also have experienced the Runaway Railway B mode too. It's always really cool to see

To be honest, I'd say yes to having crew members mention that the Shaman animatronic won't be present in the Avatar ride. I love her, and I'd do anything to see her for the first time as well. Her movements are so graceful and she is indeed a HUMONGUS animatronic.

I went on a behind the scenes tour for smugglers run wdw. The CMs are cross trained and told stories about Rise. There was some wild things. But they told a fun fact about Kylo's animatronic. 90% of the malfunctions are caused by the door that conceals him in the beginning. Apparently the animatronic is super reliable but the piece of metal that swings up has always been problematic

Thanks for the new video TPM! Another fun B-mode in Smugglers Run is that in the second pre-show right before you board there is a B-mode for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser guests. When you go to Galaxy’s Edge during Starcruiser, you get a pin to wear. The cast members see the pins and give you special interactions, one of which is then pushing a button in this pre-show that gives Hondo a few extra lines that reference the guests on the Halcyon and ties in their story on the ship! It’s really cool and really seamless!

Love learning more about animatronics! The first time I went on rise right after it opened at Disneyland, BB-8 also malfunctioned in the first Preshow. However, the dialogue remained the same as if he was functioning.

A few years ago, I was on the expedition Everest ride. We broke down right before the disco yeti scene, and sadly we could only hear the yeti. But while we were stuck, the people in the front started making a beat and singing “We will, we will, forward” in the melody of we will rock you! Everyone joined in, and it was kind of wholesome :)

As one who has a friend that works for WDI as an animatronic animator, I can tell you that they animate the animatronics in 3D first, to make sure all the clearances and motions will work on the physical animatronic. So the 3D Iron Man for the B-mode isn’t that surprising, since they likely already had it and just went with it for the B-mode. Easier to do that than set up cameras and shoot footage of the physical animatronic and then edit it and everything. Besides, B-mode has to be in place for when they’re running through the ride tests. So, again, shooting video of the physical animatronic for the B-mode just doesn’t make sense.

Thank you tpm vids for putting in my clip of the Rey transmission not working! It was my first time going on the ride, when we broke down. Then 30 minutes later, the transmission failed. Thankfully the rest of the ride went smoothly and I had already seen the preshow.

It took me a little over a year (thanks to this video) to realize on my 2022 trip to Disney World that I got to see B Mode Carnotaurus on Dinosaur and A Mode Carnotaurus in both my 2015 and 2023 trips. I may have seen B Mode Carnotaurus during my 1999 trip but I don't have the on-ride photo from that trip like I do from 2015, 2022, and 2023.

This happened when I was a little girl in the 1980s on The Pirates Of The Caribbean at Disneyland. It was probably not so much a B-mode as a cast member having been at the scene to do some emergency clean up or repair and having to pose as an animatronic as riders go by. In the pirate's cell scene there was a chubby blond male pirate calling out to the dog who suddenly turned and winked at our boat as it went by. Yes, he was a real human being and I wasn't the only one on the boat who saw him do this. Like I said, probably a cast member had been sent in to do something and got "caught" by us riders. Sometimes people will throw their trash at the animatronics while on the various rides. (Can't tell you how many times I've seen empty water bottles on Haunted Mansion over the years.)

I have luckily never seen a malfunction on Rise of the Resistance, but when my family and I planned a trip to Disney World, we planned this as a once in a life time trip because we don't expect to be able to go back. We planned one day in animal kingdom and when going on the Navi River ride the Shaman was in B mode and I was so sad. I wanted to do the ride again to see if we could see the actual animatronic but a party member got grumpy so we ended up leaving the park early. Now I just admire her from afar by watching videos like this one. Love this series though, TPM Vids is amazing.

In February of 2023, me and my family went to Disney World and we were in Hollywood Studios, my dad, brother and I went on rise of the resistance while my mom and grandma waited for our dinner reservation. We get on the ride and we’re going up the elevator and lights turn on and the cart stops, we were stuck for a good 20-25 minutes. Once we got off, we RAN to out dinner reservation and thank goodness we made it 😭😭

I’ve never actually had rise of the resistance work 100% correctly for me. Either Kylo Ren is in B mode, we stop for a long time before unloading, or the pre-show with the turntable is not working.
