Of course everyone in the hobby has their own experience, and this list does focus on "essentials". That said, I find these are good game experiences to have had, but I have played through them so to speak and my game ownership now resides beyond them in niche titles that tweak my particular likes. So I would say to anyone young in the hobby to definately play these games, but do not stop there. Always enjoy your discussion of the hobby.

You know when Sunniva first stated Federation and Bruxelles …. Scratches the same itch, I thought she was crazy……. But after thinking about it, she’s right. Both games is kind of easy to see what you want to do, but you have limited resources to accomplish and do you put down a lower value worker to be cheap on an action then you end up losing your targeted objective. ….. spot on Sunniva

The only 3 on this list I own are Azul, Age of Innovation and Castles of Burgundy. I don't love Azul, but it's something I can get my parents to play over the holidays, so I don't mind something short and simple with them. I haven't played Age of Innovation yet, but from reviews it seemed better for me than Terra Mystica. I did back the royal edition of Castles of Burgundy with the pre shaded castle miniatures, than played it a couple of times and decided I don't like the game. My gamer friend and I both agree it is too generic and boring for us. Not worth bothering with at all. However the components are good quality, and I will probably keep it incase I make friends down the road that will transition off gateway games to heavier stuff through Castles of Burgundy. My must have list would be Spirit Island, Arkham Horror the LCG, Mage Knight and Everdell complete collection, in no particular order. Tho I'm excited for Andromeda's edge to arrive, and can't wait to back Voidfall next year when the new expansion launches. And I'm currently addicted to Dwellings of Eldervale and Marvel Champions.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! We have Andromeda’s Edge on the shelf, but haven’t had the time to play yet! Hope to get it played before the end of the year :) Hope you’ll love it!

I find the phrase, "this game is going to be..." annoying, because it's not "going to be" anything, it just is. The game has been made. The phrase is redundant. I get why you say it, a lot of American reviewers overuse this phrase. I'd wager a lot of non-americans are low-key irritated too, but don't want to waste so much time writing a long-winded reply. Oh wait... 😅
@astrophe-catАй бұрын

I’m unsure if I understand what you mean, so sorry about that! 😅 Do you mean when we say f.ex «my next game is going to be (game name)?» If so, interesting. It’s probably because English isn’t our first language, but it seems like a thing one could say, and it would be gramatically correct? When thinking about it, it wouldn’t be correct in Norwegian, so I might be just stupid 😂 Can’t promise we’ll change, and hope you’ll enjoy the rest of the video 😅
@woolveyАй бұрын
@@BoardGamingRamblings I think the reference is to something like "my next one is going to be a drawing game". I think the objection is that the game is already a drawing game, rather than it is going to be one in the future. However, the phrase is grammatically correct. The "one" in the phrase is not a reference to the game, it is a reference to the pick. i.e. your sentence is paraphrased to "my next pick is going to be a drawing game", rather than "my next game is going to be a drawing game". As the pick is not yet announced, it is in the future and is "going to be" a pick in the category of "drawing games". Nothing wrong with this at all, in either US or UK English.
