Hi, psychology student here! stanford prison experiment wasn’t to see if people would be evil, it was to see if the participants would conform to the roles that were randomly assigned to them, it was only shut down when zimbardos girlfriend who was a reporter came in to make a report about the experiment and she saw how badly the participants were being treated. zimbardo didn’t see the slow incline of hostility as he had put himself in to the experiment on the prison guard side. this ment that the experiment wasn’t ethical as participants were being hurt mentally and physically and so his experiment cannot be counted as a proper experiment although we still use what was found in psychology.
@SugarandSarcasm Жыл бұрын
Some interesting results/conclusions have been gotten through some of the most unethical experiments. Doesn’t mean I condone the methods of course, but by sharing these often “forgotten” parts of history with others keeps people from forgetting, in the hopes people will not be tempted to repeat history. Unfortunate that there is always someone who will try anyway.

Absolutely correct! The experiment had nothing at all to do with good' or 'evil', it was testing how far conformity would go. If they had wanted to test 'good' and 'evil', they would have mocked up a church and assigned half the participants the role of priest , the other half altar boys.

My sister has horrible panic attacks after being SA and becoming pregnant at 16. This was Back in 1988. My parents put her in a mental institution at the University hospital for help. The doctors tormented her to learn more about how panic attacks happen. Once they found her triggers they would induce her attacks beyond her limit. Hell on earth. My parents did not understand the attacks either. Not knowing how terrible of a situation she was in. They played the song, don’t worry be happy a lot while she was there, she can’t hear it without panic.

Glowfish were developed as a way to track a specific population through the wild. Its helped us learn a lot about how environmental factors effect aquatic life. Scientists spliced a gene into eggs and now the fish pass on this gene to their offspring. Humans buy fish for their ornamental value all the time. Do you think guppies actually look like that? That is a whole other conversation. I think it's always a great thing to understand more about how how to lessen the damage we do the animals we share our home with. Its a really interesting thing to learn more about and there are tons of scientific papers online worth checking out.

He went on vacation and the person who was watching over his homestead didn't know why the grates were in place and removed them and then waalaa the queens swarmed and have over the years the africanized honey bees have spread out and are capable of surviving at the 32nd parallel.
