Monet's entry on here showed just how much she knows about her craft; and I don't just mean drag I also mean comedy. The set up and the payoff for the fake-out split was HILARIOUS, but one of the rules of funny is that if you're going to build up to a bit and then back off, you HAVE to commit to it later or else all the set up just becomes hollow. The inital joke was a set up with payoff, but as a throughline bit of the lip sync that first moment was just the alley-oop for her to land the ACTUAL split, which was needed to round out the whole thing. TL;DR - Setting up something and then backing out of it isn't funny unless you can prove you can actually do it. :)
