Red Rising shocked me when I first read it a few months ago. I couldn't believe how invested I was, even if the plot wasn't all there at first.

I would love for the third Kingkiller Chronicles book to come out because I absolutely want to know how things wrap up! I also still think of the first book so fondly, but the wait’s been tough. I definitely need to catch up on my Sanderson reading! There’s so much I have to read 👀 But I figure it’s best to wait until I have the time to fully dedicate to this project. And the same goes for Robin Hobb, especially since we felt pretty similar about the first book. And I must finish the Green Bone Saga! And I’m ver much not surprised about your #1! I pretty much called it right at the start 😂

If I can get you to catch up on one series it would be Greenbone! I just know you're going to love it!

Some of my favourites include Gormenghast by Mervyn Peake, The Witcher books, LoTR and A Song of Ice & Fire (Martin is overall my favourite fantasy author!) I'm new to Brandy Sandy, & so far have only read the first Mistborn book, & currently reading Tress (which is very cute.) Also ordered my first Abercrombie books, so looking forward to reading his works as I think they're my cup of tea! As a New Zealander, I definitely felt at home when we visited Hobbiton. Fond memories of the visit!

I realllllly want to read A Game of Thrones already! That's on my within the next year TBR (and hoping it'll give more time for Martin to publish the next book). You're so lucky that you've gotten to visit Hobbiton! That's my dream trip :-D

Yaaaas LOTR!!!! So many series on here that I have been planning to read for ages. With my love of D and D maybe I should prioritize Kings of the Wild lol

It took me a few tries to get hooked with Critical Role, the actual play that really sparked my love for ttrpg is Fantasy High from Dimension 20 (and Thomas Sander's dnd series which was really the very first spark). Now I'm slowly making my way through every Dimension 20 campaign, I'm in campaign 1 of Critical Role, and I also started Transplanar, also top tier (the narration ! the world-building !!) (yeah I wish I could focus on just one thing but no I have to do everything all at once)
@MerrilyKristin Жыл бұрын
I've listened to some of Fantasy High so I can totally see why!! The next campaign I want to listen to is the Escape from Bloodkeep / LOTR themed campaign Dimension20 did, which will be a whole lot shorter than a CR campaign lol! I can't decide if I want to go back and listen to campaign 1 of CR, or just move on to campaign 3 after. I really am loving the animated show adaptation of Vox Machina!

@@MerrilyKristin So far my second favorite Dimension 20 show besides Fantasy High is Misfits and Magic ! Escape from Bloodkeep is one of the next (but i need to finish at least one before starting a new one) I'm so eager to watch Vox Machina but I want to finish the actual play before watching the animation so... that will take some time xD

Where would you start with Brandon Sanderson? I’ve been thinking about Mistborn for a long time. It’s for sure in the TBR Elemental magic is my fav since Tamora Pierce!
@MerrilyKristin Жыл бұрын
I started with Mistborn and I think that was the right way to go!! You can also start with Elantris which is technically first in the Cosmere, but personally, I think Mistborn is the best starting place!
@RyeMiArt Жыл бұрын
I discovered Sanderson only this year (I guess I've been living under the rock or smth) and I started with Mistborn and I do not regret that. And you definitely need to read the whole series :D i read Elantris later and I was so disappointed by audiobook I would probably never pick anything Sanderson again if I did read that one first lol so yes, Mistborn is a great place to start. Or Warbreaker, that is a standalone and it was great too!
@Nemrac92 Жыл бұрын
@@MerrilyKristin is Cosmere like a prequel then? Thanks for the advice!
@Nemrac92 Жыл бұрын
@@RyeMiArt ooooh good advice, yeah not all audiobooks are created equally unfortunately, they can detract from the story just as much as add to it!
@purple1441 Жыл бұрын
@@Nemrac92 The Cosmere is like the MCU of Brandon Sanderson books. It's the culmination of the Mistborn series, The Stormlight Archive series, Warbreaker, Elantris, and other books. They're all connected.

Critical Role as a whole is probably my number 2 right now (second only to Lord of the Rings, of course). I am caught up on c3 and just finished episode 26 last night of C2. Molly is my favorite character so let’s just say I woke up with a headache this morning from the crying. Neil Gaiman is also one of my favs! Neverwhere is my favorite book of all time 🥰 So I’ve only read book 1 but I am confident in saying this is gonna be a favorite when I finish: The Chorus of Dragons series by Jenn Lyons. The Ruin of Kings is…omg. Almost Neverwhere level of favorite. If you haven’t given it a chance, you should! I think it might be right up your alley!

I really can't get into Brandon Sanderson. He simply isn't a very good writer. Then why is he some popular? Why is McDonalds popular?
